Pristine black cherry, baked black plum and black currant. Lots of spice, some brown sugar, cinnamon, lavender, and just a hint of iron and meat behind everything. Bracing acidity, firm tannins that don’t obstruct the beautiful fruit character on this. Needs time to open up, but it’s already gorgeous.

Lay & Wheeler Summer tasting: Sweet morello cherry fruit, violet, liquorice and animal funk. Rich, heady and saturated. The tannins are rough and it's blocky on the palate: age will do this a lot of good.

Benefited from time out of the bottle. Nose subdued at first as noted by another reviewer. But came alive later. Surprisingly smooth and polished for a Mourvedre. Still has that inky depth and heft that I love. Maybe a little sweet, for me.

Very nice, drinking very well young. Nose is maybe a bit shy, but the palate is fun and has good grip. Can probably benefit from a year or two.
