Medium+ bodied, blend of modern and traditional styling. In the first hours the nose holds quite a lot of hot candle wax and reduction, like livestock and burnt matchsticks. Palate... grocery store wine bitterness integrates after an hour and turns towards high-altitude red berries, dry underbrush, dusty earth, old leather, pipe smoke. The finish is long but never becomes harmonious. The first hour was a mess - don't bother PnP, tastes like Mega Purple and better living through chemistry.
This clearly was bottled longevity rather than instant gratification, a surprise since it was a random Whole Foods grab. However I'm not wholly convinced it will be worth the cellar space, but love to be wrong. Should drink well into the 2030s. 90ish
Day 2: still so reductive, really enjoyable. Finish is still poor.

Last Tuesday Supper Club (One Penny Red, Summer Hill): Black treacle, almost molasses, roast blackberry, black olives, slight perfumed top notes - almost lavender straying to tarragon with a slight meaty underpin. big and bolshy on the palate but with a pretty fruit, jubey lozenge note. Lovely drying slightly grainy tannins are rather glorious for me. Yum in a warm way.

Fruit on the nose but a very earthy palate. Went very well with our filet mignon and veal chop. I’d like to buy a bottle and age it.

A bit reticent. Fair bit of chocolate. Not that inviting. Lots left in the bottle after an hour. Likely due to the austerity.

Feels young despite the 6 years, acidity bordering on alcohol, nose a bit closed off, soft tannins, keep next bottle for a couple of years
