  • Strikes me as old meets new. Very vibrant/concentrated/polished/sleek... but with excellent balance, precision, freshness, and savory complexity. Enjoyed a 94 now in youth, but I suspect this has 96 potential over time. 95-96?

375ml decanted for 3 hours at cellar temp. Mouthwatering cassis, pencil shavings, tobacco, cherry, lilac, red currant, vanilla. Focused acids and ultra fine tannin. Feels 13.5-14% (label is 14%). No sign of alcohol. Very sleek and polished. Precise. Loads of red currant, pencil shavings and drying cassis. Med+ body. Long finish. More savory & complex, than sweet, supported by perfect balance of mouthwatering acid and polished tannin. Would like to try this again with camembert or brie. No idea what a sleek wine like this ages into with 30 years time, but the balance is impeccable and I certainly look forward to following this wine over time.

  • Trying to get a sense of 2020 Figeac from 375 without proper airtime seemed futile but nonetheless, this provided plenty of charm from PNP.

With that said, if I had to do it all over again from the same format I would decant. 2-3+ hrs at cellar temp and let it warm up in the glass.

At first I was getting some cranberry, cherry and mint. Silky tannins and a long finish. Just a lovely wine in it's infancy.

  • Re-tasted together, I think my heart is going to 2020 for the moment rather than the fabulous 2019. The future will tell us!

  • The purity, elegance, refinement, and walls of perfectly ripe, sweet, sensuous fruits are almost off the charts here! Aromatically, the floral bouquet with accents of espresso, black plums, cherries, black raspberries, spice, licorice, and wet earth can keep any taster busy for ages. But the magic really hits you when the wine begins caressing your palate with its opulent, luscious, silky, velvet-drenched layers of fruit, and freshness which steals the show. The seamless, 60-second plus finish is riveting, inspiring you to go back for another sniff, swirl, and sip for the pleasure of it. I do not often drink when tasting. But we finished every drop of this bottle. This is a serious candidate for triple-digit perfection after a decade of aging. Drink from 2027-2065.

  • Tasted next to 2009. Quite different, more purity and focus, but still ripe, generous and powerful. Lots of depth; vibrant, mineral, powdery tannins. Impressive length. Wonderful. 97-98+
