Brick-red in color. Caramel notes on the nose. Nearing the end of its cycle, but still powerful and flexible at 49. Very forgiving of my poor storage in it's early years.

Mid shoulder ullage, cork held up ok with durand except for bottom quarter. Surprising nose, colour of brown rawhide. Forest floor and perhaps top soil flavours. Seasoned leather couch. Paired reasonably with the herb encrusted rack of lamb.

“G8 summit – Milestones and memories of my past” (non-blind), Wine 5: The year in which my dear friend and generous host obtained his PhD. The wine was medium ruby in colour and had a classic nose of red and black fruit, cabbage, cedar, spices and a hint of mint. On the palate, the wine showed red fruit, cedar, mint and lovely spice flavours, with lively acidity, fully resolved tannin and incredible length. The smooth and incredibly balanced wine went on and on and on! So balanced and long! Just lovely! This well-preserved bottle, stored in my friend's cellar in perfect conditions, was the most mesmerizing bottle of Mouton I have had to date.

This wine is totally disintegrated. On the nose, it's a bit metallic with hints of earth and Chinese herbal medicine. Nothing left along the way of any fruits on the nose or palette. It warrants a grade of flunked-out as far as wines go.

This was Maggie's wine for her 520 BD party. What a wonderful group in a wonderful restaurant with wonderful wines.
