(Petrus) 1928 Petrus Dear Friends, Ok, so a Monday night when the market lost another 50 points is probably not the best time to offer this but I only have one chance or it goes to auction. This is an original parcel of the vaunted 1928 Chateau Petrus, one of only a handful of vintages of the last hundred that actually lives up to the billing of Petrus as the world’s greatest red wine. In the strata of top Bordeaux, this wine is rivaled only by a few vintages of Cheval Blanc, Latour, Latour a Pomerol and it’s namesake as the single greatest red wine of the last century - in good condition, it is a better wine (by a favorable margin) than its siblings the 1921 (100pts) and 1929 (100pts). Both the 1928 and 1929 vintages have only now reached their true maturity after flirting with it for the last several decades. If evidence at the latest Bog Boy tasting is any indication (where I believe some of the most experienced palates in the US gave the 1928 Petrus 98 or 99pts and they never give 100pts to anything), the 1928 is not only singing at present but had loads of life left (by contrast they gave the 1929 95pts). This original set is from a prestigious cellar in Luxembourg where they have sat for decades. The bottles have not been reconditioned or other and all are in exemplary and realistic condition for their age (fills range from very high shoulder to bottom neck with weathered and aged capsules – corks are in very good shape for this age). Truly a unique opportunity as this wine is not only as rare as can be but I’ve tried to keep the margin to a minimum to allow for further investment. 1928 Chateau Petrus Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Bord8740

(Pétrus) Petrus 1921 - 1966, all the great years, in Magnum (Melisse Restaurant, Santa Monica, California): From magnum - slightly corked on the nose, with hints of espresso. Even though slightly corked, there was clearly good structure, cedar and coffee on the mid-palate, and nice length. Best corked wine I've ever had.
