This wine was rather flat tonight. The nose was some fruit, but a lot of mushroom. It didn't appear corked to me or to the 20 other people who were enjoying it either. There was a lot of fruit in the front, a little bit of sweetness on the front actually. The wine was quite a bit more medium bodied than I thought it would be. Finished with terroir and some ash. Just not that impressive. Last note commented upon the robust nature of the fruit, but the fruit in this wine just wasn't there tonight, and wasn't there after an hour (I barely was able to revisit the wine before it was gone). I will probably not be able to try another one of these, and hope that the remaining 87 of these that are reportedly in cellar have a little more fruit to counterbalance the rest of the notes (that just made this one seem a little too disjointed and flat).

Ex-chateau for brother in law. Stunner, as we weren't sure what to expect given the vintage. Sweet and jammy nose. On the palate, vigorous, velvety and persistent. Lots of fruit there, round and finish went forever. This was a terrific medium-bodied Petrus. One of the takeaways from dinner with Olivier Berrouet last year was "off vintages" were still excellent drinking and this tasting reconfirmed that.

Endloser Abgang , unsterblich.
