Not my vintage. To hot. Missing elegance and fruitiness.

Just opened my first case. Used coravin on my first bottle, so no decant. Still young, but already accessible even with no air. That’s the result of the quite warm vintage. Acidity is here, but not dominant. Reminds me a bit of the 2015 which is for me now at its peak. 2018 is definitely away from the top, but worth to try a bottle if you have a few. (I almost finished the bottle tonight)

Still young, but entering drinking-window. This bottle really should be decanted for a few hours.

Bright golden color. Still lively with some ripeness. For me in a perfect spot now. Lovely. I still have several bottles and will start to drink them up now.

2018 Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT SuperTuscan Blend (view label images)
5/25/2022 - MarcelloW Does not like this wine:

Drunk this twice at different places. The price, the popularity and the alcohol level of this wine goes up and at the same time the quality goes down. This is a very different wine today than a few years ago. For me this is highly overrated. There are much better wines from Antinori for less money. For the price of Tignanello today, you can get a better return for your money somewhere else.

This is really singing at the moment. Just needs a couple of hours in the decanter. Explosive nose. Should almost be drunken out of a burgundy glass. Drunk several of the great vintages like 05/10/15 lately, but at the moment this 2014 shows so good and makes more fun. Anyway… 2014 is an underestimated vintage, especially in Margaux and Pauillac.

Out of a small bottle. Still at least a couple of years away from drinking window. If you can’t wait to open a bottle, give it a couple of hours air in a decanter. 2016 is a beautiful, classy year and for me better than 2018 and 2019 which have a higher alcohol level.

This is very closed and on the full bodied, tannic and heavy side. Even on day 2 it did not change much. No comparison to the great 2015 vintage, at least for the next 5+ years.

This is so much more elegant and open than 2016, which is heavier, closed and a tannic beast. This is one of the very best young vintages of Alion I ever tried.

I love CdC. 2008 is a great vintage and thats why you need to be patient. At the moment it’s quite closed and very bubbly. 2007 (for much less money) makes fun and is the better value at the moment.

This might not be the best vintage for DP, but this bottle was in the perfect spot. Light golden color, but still energetic with tiny little bubbles. Just pnp.

Pnp. Lots of sulfite in the nose. A little smoky. Medium weight and depth and length. Some might call it elegant, but for me rather thin. Not my type of Meursault, I expected more.

Pnp...and I was surprised how accessible this already was...just a bit tannic, but not as much as other vintages of poyferre which need 10years+ to smoothen...

First bottle out of my case...After 5 hours in the decanter...still a bit tannic, but not harsh and already very accessible...at the beginning of a long life...very classic and really great stuff! Don’t hesitate to open a bottle with a long decant.

Ordered this bottle in a restaurant for an unbelievable good price...drunk it over 2 days...what a surprise this was...this is such a reasonable wine and this shows that a good Bordeaux doesn’t have to be expensive...for a second wine a very top value and for the price I should even give a higher rating...

We drunk two bottles in a row. The first one was so good and really on top, bright yellow and still fresh. It couldn’t have been better. The second bottle, it was not oxidized, but much riper, already loosing the crispness, tasting more like cooked apples. The first bottle was a 95....the second a 91.

I love this wine and it’s typical eucalyptus nose. I drunk this wine more than 30 years ago the first time and had several vintages all my life. Until today it kept it’s on style. It’s fully bodied, but not chewy and not too overloaded and fat like many big Nappa wines. I think 2013 is a great vintage for Martha’s. I drunk this already a couple of times and even if it shows nice right now, I will put my other bottles away for a few years.

I just have to write a note about this vintage, because I drunk tonight a 2016 Sassicaia and last month I had a 2006 which was at this stage far better but still has a long way to go... 2006 is a Vintage with a lot of potential, it is not on the top yet, but with a 3 hour decant already approachable...what I want to say...most vintages of Sassicaia need 10 years+ and the best vintages even more!!!

I just don’t understand why some people overrate this wine so much at this time...for sure this wine is good, but today, this wine never deserves a very high score...it’s still closed...it’s a wine of elegance, not power...it’s a very good wine, but needs to be at least 10 years old to be (maybe) worth the money...I drank this wine the 3rd time today and spent with this bottle 24 hours and I will not open another bottle for several years...this could reach a much higher score, but for the moment 92 is the max in my opinion...

A very bad time to open this bottle. This is still far away from its drinking window. On the 2nd day it showed a bit better, but still was harsh and didn’t open up. Don’t touch this for another decade.

Bought single bottle for first try. It was ok after a six hour decant, but not great. For sure it is to young right now, but I don’t know if this would ever make me happy. Missing the harmony and the elegance and richness of other vintages of Eglise Clinet. Evangile 14 is more balanced and already more approachable. Maybe just needs time?

100% Merlot. Medium bodied. Juicy, smooth and elegant with no harsh tannins. A couple of years cellaring will do good, but it’s already approachable now with a 2 hour decant. Another very good second wine of this great vintage. Bought a few cases.

It was ok after 3 hours in the decanter at the end of the evening, but very different and never the level of 2010 or even 12. quite thin and dry and dusty with some bitterness at the end. Missing the usual elegance.
Red
Decanted for 6 hours, then drunk over 3 hours. At the beginning quite harsh and sandy tannins. Showed much better at the end of the evening. Still needs a few more years in bottle. Interesting to see how this will develop and if it ever will reach the high Parker rating. For the moment 93.

This is even surpassing the very good 2016 vintage, which is, in my opinion, not the case in many appellations. This is the best value in st.julien. A great wine for a decent price!
