Friday evening in bonneville. Opening one of the last bottles for the frenchies. Medium lemon color. Lemon, hay, red apple, slight touch of grand marnier. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity and med finish. Ample mouth, subtle cream, acidity and citrus. Quite simple and a bit underwhelming. Believe it is time to drink. Disappointing QPR in my view.

Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity, med tannins, med finish. Cherry, milk chocolate, slight green capsicum, light mint. Not a great finish, kind of watery mouth after an initial great touch.

16th of April. Important day for some people. Apéro, pop and pour, just bought it from Eric at felsenkeller in schaffhausen last weekend. Medium lemon color. Lemon, grass, orange, hay, subtle nose. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity and med finish. Sharp and refreshing acidity, a bit softening after 5 min in the glass, nice minerality and salinity, a slight touch of cream and white pepper. This is very refreshing and looks to me like a perfect summer apéro, or to pair with some shellfish. Like it!

Drunk over the weekend, bought this at the cave de Gigondas, the wine shop in the village representing most of the domaines and offering tasting of most. I liked it for it drink ability and so it proves to be. Deep purple color. Red ample fruits on the nose, a waft of alcohol. Med acidity, med body, high alcohol, med flavor intensity, med tannins and med finish. Very fruit forward, a bit of black spices, easy drinker. Alcohol a bit too high as it over warms a bit but otherwise pleasing and easy consuming wine. One for those colder spring days.

Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity, med finish. Still young and crispy, green apples, salinity is lingering. Like it but not super sophisticated pallet.

Saturday evening with Seb in Singapore - just missing Romain to be fully reunited. No formal tasting note. Pairing with a house made curry. The silkyness of the tannins stands out. Very female Syrah - if that makes sense. I find it lasting a touch less long than last time. Excellent still.

Meta in Singapore, together with Alex and Ken. No formal tasting note. Recommendation from the sommelier to pair with the first 5 snacks on the menu. Decanted as initial sip was still very racy and young. Beautiful nose with lots of cherry and red apple. High in acidity so only starting to open. Ample mouth, watering salinity, cream, cherry and apples. Perfectly pairing with the amuses bouches. Very likeable and do not hesitate decanting at this point.

Meta in Singapore. With Alex and Ken. Brought my own bottle. Ruby color. Tertiary nose, lots of roses, mushroom, mint, chocolate. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, dry tannins, med falvor intensity and med finish. Mushroom, capsicum, mint, chocolate, espresso, truffle, dried black berries, touch of vanilla. I love this and blindly it would be difficult to guess 95 - today it is drinking rather perfectly well.

Very brown gold color. The nose immediately brings me to a vin jaune. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity, med finish. Oxidised, not very acid, orange, hay, salinity, very much vin jaune. Guess this is not the idea so marked the bottle as off.

Medium purple color. Pairing with a self made quiche. Smoky red fruit on the nose. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity, dry tannins, med finish. Nice tannins, lighter type of gigondas as 2021 was not the greatest year, but still like as great producers always do a good job. Already drinkable I would say.

L oustalet in gigondas, pairing with the truffle menu. The sommelier being a very nice person, and being a loyal customer, one gets proposed nice things, like this 1980 bottle. Took a good 5 minutes and considerable skills to get the bouchon out intact. Deep ruby color. Chocolate, mint, espresso, raspberry, white pepper, capsicum, beautiful nose. Med- acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity, dry tannins and med finish. Medicinal mouth, Mediterranean herbs, mint, chocolate, still some fruits, white pepper, really still drinking well. Pairs perfectly with this subtle food. A nice day in Gigondas!

Wednesday evening in diessenhofen, bought this in my local supermarket on the other side of the rhein and recognised this iconic wine maker. Light lemon color. Very fruity nose, lots of pineapple, orange, a touch of kerosene initially, white pepper, hay and wet stones. Med acidity, med body, med to low alcohol, med flavor intensity and med finish. Sweet, exotic fruits, a bit of cream, something tinkling as well, nice salinity, white pepper, that lingers a bit. Simple but very enjoyable, delivers on all the Riesling requirements and I like the QPR. Will buy again!

Sunday evening in diessenhofen, pairing with pork tenderloin. A light ruby color. Smoky, leather, green nose - very meaty and pronounced nose. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity, dry tannins and med finish. I really like the animal side of this wine. Light but serious, vegetable but fruity, and a 5+ seconds long lingering salinity. This has a ridiculous QPR on top - buy by the cases and visit the domaine!

Saturday in diessenhofen, first BBQ of the year, pairing with steak - this wine is a bit too light for that. Will go better with pasta or cheese. Cherry, mushrooms, truffle, wet forest floor, vanilla, capsicum, very ample nose. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med falvor intensity, med tannins and med finish. Menthol, capsicum, mushroom, espresso, earthiness, like it. Not very ample mouth but enjoyable. Time to drink up though!

Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med tannins, med flavor intensity, med finish. Very pure fruits, chewy and refined tannins, pepper, light capsicum, mushroom, wet forest floor, lingering salinity. I find this very subtle, especially for a cab sav. Pairing perfectly with the Holstein entrecôte and the excellent Belgian fries. Ideally decanted for a few hours.

Saturday evening in diessenhofen, pairing with entrecôte. Decanted for one hour. Deep purple color. Lots of vanilla, red cherry, black pepper, green capsicum, mushroom and wet forest floor on the nose. Med acidity, full body, high alcohol, med flavor intensity, med tannins and med finish. Ample mouth, lots of cream and vanilla, lots of cherries, quite warm, dried Mediterranean herbs, dry tannins, mild pepper, nice capsicum. This still needs to evolve further and after 2 hours I start to taste more chocolate, espresso, truffles even, so next time I will coax a bit more tertiary notes by decanting longer - say 2 / 3 hours. I note it only 90 cause I do not like too much vanilla so a tat too sweet for my taste.

Med acidity, full body, high alcohol, med flavor intensity and med finish. Ample and warm mouth, this is 16 degrees stuff so you taste it. Nice orange peel, black spices, subtle green capsicum, salinity that lingers. If not for the high alcohol I very much like this and ideal for a cold winter night.

Saturday evening in diessenhofen. Pairing with see taufel from my favorite fish monger at singen market. Medium purple color - very bright and young. Red cherries, very concentrated, orange, wet forest floor, black pepper, beautiful nose. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity, chewy tannins, med finish. Beautiful fruit, with a certain smokiness to it, crisp black pepper, a nice chewiness and salinity. Obviously still young but drinking well. I love this style and producer hence why I keep returning each time I visit burgundy. You should too as prices remained reasonable at this under appreciated house of brother and sister pavelot.

Med acidity, full body, high alcohol, dry tannins, med flavor intensity and med finish. Dried cherries, roses, greenness, a very warm mouth (well above 15 degrees), medicinal herbs, i find this well developed and too warm in the mouth. Quite disappointing initially, this gets better after 20 minutes in the glass. I will try some more wine tomorrow.
