2007 Château Palmer Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
1/20/2024 - Mr Coone Likes this wine:
93 points
High intensity and cherry-red in the glass with some evolution.

Aroma's of black pepper, cedar, prunes, pencil and already a small hint of leather. Soft on the palate and absolutely "a point".

The wine shows younger than it actually was, but has it all. The fruit, the secondary aroma's and also already small tertiary hints.

Drink now.

1999 Château Suduiraut Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (view label images)
1/20/2024 - Mr Coone Likes this wine:

A special bottle for me as I bought this on the domain itself during my very first Bordeaux trip.
Still remember the lady and me saying that 1999 was the year I became 18.
Saved this bottle for a special occasion, so which occasion would be better than to open this with your best friends and a cheese dish, followed with some home made chocolate mousse?

In the glass you see that this is an old and evolved Sauternes with a deep copper-yellw colour

Aroma's of candied fruit both in the nose as on the palate.
Abricot, citrus and honey, together with a beautiful acidity that keeps everything nicely balanced.

Beautiful aroma's of chocolate, vanilla, cherry, prune and blueberries.
Very long finish.
Softened up tannins and exact within it's drinking window, but still enough power to las a few more years.

White - Sweet/Dessert
2007 Château d'Yquem Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (view label images)
10/28/2022 - Mr Coone Likes this wine:
95 points
Very intense copper-yellow colour.

Candied citrus, beewax, honey, cooked pear, dried abricot and very sweet in the nose.
High acidity on the palate which gives the wine tension.
Same aroma's on the palate together with vanilla pudding.

Had this together with some Bleu d'Auvergne (blue cheese) = heavenly

Due to the colour, we all thougt that this wine was much older (1990's), but I think the wine evolved quicker due to the small bottle (375 ml). However due to the acidity and sugar, still has a lot of potential.

Last bottle of my very first en primeur purchase.

Cherry-red with quite some evolution in the rim.
Aroma's of cherry on alcohol, raspberry, dried fruit, cedar and already some hints of leather and tobacco in the nose.

Same aroma's on the palate. Tannins are still very noticable.

Wine evolved nicely, but is already showing starting tertiairy aroma's and the green tannins will not change.
A very pleasant wine, however.

Had this with roast beef, baked potatoes and meditteranean vegetables.
White
2013 Château Pape Clément Blanc Pessac-Léognan Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (view label images)
10/29/2022 - Mr Coone Likes this wine:
95 points
Intense and straw yellow in the glass.
Aroma's of buxus (Sauvignon Blanc is showing itself), candied lemon, ripe pear, beewax, almond, honey an a hint of vanilla.

Wine had higher acids than anticipated in the nose.
Again same aroma's, together with some creme brûlee. and a long finish.

Wine would perfectly match with a trout and almonds, but even with grilled Norway lobster or any grilled fish with a cream sauce like sauce Hollandaise.

Absolutely top and still a lot of aging pontential

Nose was very promising, with aroma's of pineapple, citrus and stonefruit.

However, completely different wine on the palate.
Quite heavy mouthfeeling and bitter aroma's. Misses the right acidity and hence some tension.

Not what I'm used of their other wines

High viscosity and red tears in the glass.
Velvety soft on the palate. Tannins are perfectly balanced.
Aroma's of chocolate, ripe black fruit, cedar, vanilla, pepper and spices with a long finish.

By far the best wine I had since long.
Drink now, but still has some cellaring capacity.

Drink now, this wine will not get any better.

Quite evolved colour, but this might as well be because of the blend.

Very intense and spicy nose with aroma's of black fuit, raspberries, cinnamon, vanilla, cedar, chocolate, fresh figs, liquorice, raisins and smoked hints.

Velvetty soft on the palate with integrated tannins and a very long finish.

Châteauneuf at its best.
Serve with grilled lamb with spices, but most above all: enjoy!

2019 Entre-Deux-Monts Prestige Molenberg Heuvelland Chardonnay Blend, Chardonnay (view label images)
3/26/2022 - Mr Coone Likes this wine:

Blend of chardonnay, pinot gris and pinot auxerrois with French oak (50% new oak).

Fresh acidity in the mouth with a certain roundness in the finish.
The oak shows itself, but galantly.

Aroma's of citrus, stonefruit, acacia and a mineral hint
Long finish.

This is a wine that can easily match with a Chablis.

Serve with some grilled river fish (trout?) and almonds. This wine can have something for a meal.

Light intense ruby red colour with some evolution in the glass.

After 3 hours decanting, still a timid nose.
Aroma's of yeast, cherries and dried fruit.

Soft start on the palate. High acidity and tannins.
Aroma's of chocolate, ripe cherry, cedar, leather and some tomato leafs.

Wine needs to be decanted. Ageing capacity: at least 10 years

Medium intense cherry red colour.

Complexe and intense nose with aroma's of yeast, cherry, vanilla, laurel and cacao beans.

Soft on the palate, medium tannins and medium+ acidity.

Aroma's of red currant, raspberry, cherry, spices, cacao beans and vanilla (pudding-style)

Ageing potential: at least 5 years

Light intense straw yellow colour

Light intense, but complexe nose with aroma's of citrus peel, almond, macadamia, acacia and honey.

Fresh, but round mouth feeling. Medium+ acidity (nice fresh acidity which gives it vibrant)
Aroma's of almond, butter, citrus, camomile and a hint of vanilla

A little bit too young for the moment. Wait 2 more years => try again in 2024. Has a potential of 10 years.
Best to decant if you want to drink it now.

Light, straw-yellow in the glass.

Secondary and complexe nose with aroma's of pear (winegums), almond and smoky hints (incense)

Soft start on the palate with aroma's of almond, candied citrus, camomile, pear (winegum) and a small buttery touch

A little bit too young to drink now, so I would try earliest 2023.

Modern made Burgundy, which means high in acidity.
To my personal taste a little bit too acidic, which bothered me a little bit.
It has good aroma's, however, but acidity is dominating, which made it a little bit unbalanced.

1/26/2022 - Mr Coone Likes this wine:
93 points
Intense straw yellow colour.
Light intensity in the nose with aroma's of vanilla, acacia and little bit of oxidation.
On the palate: high acidity at first and I also thought that the wine was slightly oxidated (pop and pour), but the wine opened up after getting some air. Velvety soft and well integrated acidity after that.
Aroma's of vanilla, acacia, macadamia nuts and a long finish.

Still one of my favorites, but I don't think this wine will last for another decade.

Secondary aroma's in the nose with spices, vanilla, chocolate and cherry

Soft and velvety start on the palate. Nicely balanced tannins.
Again a lot of secondary aroma's. Chocolate, cedar, dried fruit, vanilla and cherry on alcohol and a very long finish.

This wine is absolutely "a point". Drink now.

The wine matched perfecly wih my döner-dish I made. Spiced meatballs with a basic tomato sauce, Greek yoghurt garnished with some pine nuts (which I accidentally got burnt, but this matched very well with the spices in the wine :-D )

Soft and silky tannins, medium acidity.
Aroma's of prune and liquorice, but the wine lacks some "tension"

I have tasted this wine some years ago and I thought it was fantastic. This is not how I tasted it now.

At 70 euro/bottle, this is not a good quality rate wine

Same on the palate but with some unripe tannins (which won't go away with aging).

Drink now.

Wine needs time to open up.
Fresh/fruity at first. Tried again after an hour after the wine became smooth an soft.

I have to stop with the pop and pour method.
First day I thought the wine was a little bit harsh.

Forgot half of the bottle and tried it again 2 days later.
Wine evolved to a smooth and velvetly soft wine with aroma's of ripe fruit, vanilla and spices.
Didn't take notes, but I am taking notes as to decant next time!

Light salmon-pink in the glass.

Vegetal aroma's of buxux. A little bit Sauvignon Blanc aroma's.
But then also some candy. The typical rosé candy style of cherry aroma's.

A different palate, however.
Fresh start with aroma's of cherry, red currant and a small bitter (vegetal hint) with a long finish

I thought the wine was high in alcohol, but apparently it is only 13%
Rosé
I'm absolutely no big fan of rosé, but this is one that I really liked.
Didn't take notes, however, so therefore also no rating. Just enjoyed it in my garden, enjoying the sun :-)

Will buy more of this

Wine still looked very young in the glass. Cherry-red with medium intensity and only a small change of colour in the rim.

Dominating primary aroma's in the nose with ripe cherry, blueberry, prune, cranberry, leather and some cacao.

On the palate: a little bit unripe and harsh tannins, medium + acidity.
Flavors of cherry, cedar, prune, leather, the unripe aroma's of green paprika and some vanilla in the retro with a long finish.

Decanted for an hour.

Intense cherry-red colour with a high viscosity and slightly coloured tears.

In the nose, the secondary aroma's are dominating. Very lactic. Aroma's of vanilla, "nail varnish" and spices. Also aroma's of ripe cherry.

On the palate, the high acidity is a little bit shocking at first, continued with the presence of lots of tannins.
Aroma's of cherry, lots and lots of cedar, black pepper and cassis with a long finish.

Acidity and tannins are not in balance here and the acidity is overwhelming, which is the reason I am not rating this wine higher than this.

I still have another bottle, will try this again in a few years to see how it developed (although... this bottle is a nuisance to stock with my other wines in my wine fridge and it's in my way. I'll most probably finish it much earlier :-D )

Decanted the wine for about one hour.

Ruby red colour, low intensity and with quite some evolution.
In the nose, aroma's of cedar, cherry, nail varnish and a small nutty hint.

A soft start on the palate. A high acidity, but the wine has enough body to carry this.
Aroma's of chocolate, cerry on alcohol, pepper and cedar.
Long finish.

This wine accompanied my ragu alla bolognese very well

Very mineral and Riesling-like in the nose. Aroma's of peach, honey and citrus.

Fresh, but at the same time rich in the mouth.
Aroma's of citrus, peach, white pepper, some minerality and a long finish.
Again, the mouth also feels very like Riesling.

I'm not quite familiar with Grüner Veltliner, but this wine gave me it's business card.
A very well balanced wine with lots of fruit.

Cherry to ruby red in the glass. Already quite some evolution.

Intense and spicy in the nose with aroma's of chocolate, prune and leather.

A silky-soft start with softened up tannins. Very smooth and soft mouth feeling.
Again aroma's of spices, leather, chocolate and prune, joined with aroma's of pepper, cherry on alcohol, cedar and some clove.
Long finish

This is an outstanding wine which is at it's drinking peak now.
Drink now, this wine will not get any better with aging anymore, I think.

Only other question remains, is it worth it's price (I paid 99 euro)?
That's open for discussion :-)

Didn't take any notes, but my memory is still not that bad, so I remember following from 2 days ago:

Light straw-yellow colour, not very intense (but I also didn't have a good drinking glass).
High intensity in the nose with aroma's of toast, buxus, citrus and grapefruit.
Very intense with a medium acidity on the palate. Same aroma's as in the nose together with some passion fruit and a long finish

Selected this wine with a "papillot" of red bass.
The acidity matched with the cooking style and lime + Sauvignon Blanc I added to the papillot.

Quite intense and earthy in the nose with aroma's of strawberry, spices, leather, humus and liquorice.

Intense start with high, but balanced acidity on the palate. No noticable tannins.
Aroma's of strawberry, cherries, currant, spices, chocolate, leather and tobacco.
Exceptional long finish of 20 caudalie!

For me, this is one of the better Burgundy's I have tasted so far.
Intense, an abundance of flavors and a long finish.
The acidity brings some liveliness and some positive tension in the wine. Absolutely top.

One of the very first wines I ever bought once I started collecting wines in 2013.
Time to open a bottle and see what it said. Decanted it for an hour.

Cherry-red in colour. Not much evolution.
Very powerful nose. Aroma's of cedar, pepper, paprika and berries.

On the palate, also very powerful. Acidity and tannins are very nicely balanced and tannins are beautifully softened up.
Aroma's of pepper, liquorice, blueberries, cedar, chocolate, spices and coffee.
Long finish.

Amber coloured.
Hints of raizin and walnut.
The higher acidity prevents it for becoming dull, but the wine misses depth, tension and overall complexity.

I got this bottle from somebody at work. Gave him a bottle of Château Doisy-Daëne in place.
I feel so ripped off! :-D
