Drank over the course of a 3 hour meal. Decanted at restaurant. Dark to the rim with no bricking.

First tastes loaded with secondary flavors of leather, cedar. Wine opened up tremendously from there to get cassis and dark fruits. No sure it is still improving but at the same time appears to have a long life ahead of it. Last sip 3 hours after opening was the best.

I’ll have to seek out more!

In a great place now. Very dark color, layered nose with dark fruits. Taste was plums, cassis, some vanilla. Great structure and tannins very well integrated. V long finish. This was the best showing on this one and wish I had more. It probably has many more years left.

garnet in color with a bit of bricking at edge. Looks quite young for a 28 year old wine. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like mushroom, forest floor, black currant (cassis) and cranberry and a bit of saddle leather. Flavor profile leads with earthy flavors (mushroom, saddle leather / cedar and dustiness. Black currant cranberry as well. Medium-full body with a long finish and great acidity. If you have this one, drink now ... i don't see this getting better from here.
Rosé
2013 The Withers Winery Rosé Sierra Foothills Rosé Blend (view label images)
no specific tasting notes, but nice acidity and my favorite US Rose of the year.

way too young to open now. Needed about 24 hours to truly open up. At the beginning were some odd flavors and was below where i expected it to perform. As the night wore on, it got better, and was its best the following day. Either decant for 2 hours or hold for a few more years.

Still too young at this point. Very well executed and i expect this to open into something special in about 2-5 years.

spectacular as always. This continues to be a go-to wine. As an after thanksgiving treat, it was special. Time to seek out more, as this is still a baby.

When first opened, very closed. My wife didn't like it at first but it opened up very nicely. About an hour later is was very nice though still an unusual white.

Terrific champagne. Lots of props from the group for this. No detailed notes, but happy to have more on hand.

a bit of bricking on the edges, with dark garnet color. Classic bordeaux nose with cedar, leather, casisse. Texture was very nice and the flavors were great, with a nice long finish. First aged bordeaux in a while, and a clear reminder of why it is sooooo good. Wish i had more, as this would definitely be one to seek out from my perspective.

This was delicious. My wife doesnt like the NZ / grassy style of SB, and LOVED this one. Great tropical fruits balanced against a very nice level of acidity. Very enjoyable bottle and will buy again.

This wine is in a good spot right now. Smooth, nice texture and nice flavors ... though young and more primary fruits, the tannins seemed pretty well resolved. I dont know that these will get markedly better, but not in any rush to drink either.

Not a whole lot of specifics, but i will say that this is the second occasion that i have had this, the previous being about 2.5 years ago. The wine was good then, though a bit funky. Yesterday night it was singing ... great acidity, some citrus, spice (clove?) and layers of other flavors. Definitely enjoyable. Color was a darkened / golden yellow.

Rosé
Really enjoyed this rose. very refreshing with nice acidity and some depth of flavors. A bit pricey for rose, but seems to be worth it.

No detailed notes. This is the first bottle of kb I have had in some time, and it was very good. Great subtlety, and less over the top than I remember. Terrific, and will force me to buy some more during the next offer. I methinks his is drinking incredibly right now.

Wow is this good. Opened and consumed over two days. Delicous notes of orange and some spices as well. Beautiful long finish. I didnt notice any co2 that i have seen mentioned. Made me decide to re-up on purchase even though i have too much pinot at present.

1988 Château Calon-Ségur St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Wineterfest 2012: Very much classic aged bordeaux characteristics. Nose was leather, cassis with a hint of mustiness. Mouth was of leather, cassis, cranberry, chalkiness, and was still fairly tannic. Good vino.
White - Sweet/Dessert
Wineterfest 2012: This was delicious, and a great pairing with the poached pear and crepes. nice rich dessert wine that the group enjoyed very much. Again, no specific tasting notes, but would certainly buy this again.
Red - Fortified
Wineterfest 2012: Paired with port poached pear and Crepe Suzettes. Very good. No specific tasting notes, as palates were fatigued after a full night of (over) consumption.

Wineterfest 2012: Nose of bandaid, cassis, saddle leather, pomegranite, mushrooms, black licorice and cedar. Definite earthiness. Flavor dark black fruits, cedar, and a touch of burnt marshmallow on the finish. Very nice aged bordeaux.

Wineterfest 2012: Delicious! Paired with Foie Gras vs a Sauterne. Very Sauterne'esque in profile.

Nice amber color. Nose of Honey and orange. Flavors of mushroom, blackberry, casis, hone, apricots, orange, and definite peach notes on the finish.

Delicious.

Wineterfest 2012: This was a great contrast to the Shramsburg. More mineral driven, fine bubbles and delicious overall as well. Again wasnt keeping detailed tasting notes at the time, but it was delicious. Paired very well with the hors d'oeuvres.

Wineterfest 2012: Had been wanting to try Shramsburg for some time, and it did not dissappoint. Very good. (unfortunatly, wasnt taking tasting notes at the time so no specific aromatics or flavors to describe

Brought to x2o for dinner. Som. commented that the bottle was perfect in condition ... Best condition he had seen of '82's in a while.

Color was remarkably youthful. Perhaps a very minute level of bricking at edges, but otherwise a very dark wine. Aromatics were beautiful mixing in dark and red fruits with earthiness and leather. Cassis dfinitely and perhaps a touch of cranberry.

Initial tastes were fairly tight, but opened up dramatically over the ensuing 2 hour meal the wine opened. Full mouthfeel. A touch of cassis, leather, a touch of coffee and cranberry, as well as earthiness. Long finish. Best wine of the year so far. Too bad this was my last bottle... Certainly worth seeking out.

Gift from my mother, recommended by their local wine shop. Delicious wine. Didn't take notes but this was a very nice, complex wine. Drinking very well right now.

Drinking very well now. Subtle, nuanced wine. Nice currant, earthiness, touch of cedar. Very good. Perhaps several years to go on this. Worth looking for.

Decanted for about 5 hours before drinking, and can say that it truly required as the wine is a bit shut down at present. This is clearly a more nuanced and subtle wine than i am accustomed to from Cali pinot. I didnt take specific notes, but thought this was very good and will continue to improve for some time.

Lovely, refined. Light body, subtle and balanced syrah. Lovely finish with nice acidity. Wish I had taken more detailed notes on the fruits and secondary notes as this was quite enjoyable.

Enjoyed during celebration of our anniversary weekend ... and an interesting contrast to a 91 Dominus had the night before. The HSS had very powerful dark fruits on the nose. Flavors were of dark fruits with still strong tanins and nice acidity. Long finish. Very powerful wine and still drinking incredibly young at this point. Delicious wine that my wife and i definitely enjoyed, though we slightly preferred the Dominus. If blind would have thought this was from 2001 or later. This could easily go for another 10-20 years, and if you are considering drinking and are certain of provenance, I would definitely hold for at a few years at least.

Delicious. Bottle purchased wiht known provenance. Well cellared. Color was dark. Lighting too dark in the restaurant to tell whether there was much in the way of bricking, but nose was bordeaux like with earthy scents complementing a core of dark fruits. Flavors of cassis, with lots of secondary flavors including leather and earth. Spectacularly long finish. Still youthful with many years to go. Beautiful wine and one I will certainly seek out.

Earthy nose, with hints of barnyard and forest floor. Flavor profile matched with beautiful earthiness ... A lot of what you want from a nicely aged bordeaux. Perhaps a touch of iodine as well on the pallet. Fruits were more on the red-fruit side but subtle. Rich tanins and a nice complex long finish.

Will be fun to drink over the next few years, hut not sure there is a ton of upside here.
