Lovely wine, my 3rd of 6 bottles. Was tasted alongside 2 Jadot 1er Cru White Burg's, for context. So paled in that comparison, based on power and flavor intensity...but that's the point of this pretty Muscadet.

Blind tasting Pale lemon with gold reflections and bubbles on the glass Aromatics medium. Cream, pear and citrus. Later some flinty minerality. No new oak Palate has a medium body with a rounded lees contact mouthfeel. Acid medium +. Alcohol medium. No phenolics. Citrus, mainly lemon with nice minerality Dry glass notes of cream Finish has a medium length. Balanced I guessed a 2020 Albarino given the citrus/salinity on the palate, but this wine has the muted aromatics and mouthfeel more in keeping with Muscadet. Nice wine Drink now or hold

This wine has notably evolved since its early days. Its transformation over the past few years is evident, with its more subdued character compared to previous tastings, dating back about two years. In the glass, the wine boasts a medium gold hue, hinting at its maturity. The nose still feels quite youthful with a medley of pronounced minerality, reminiscent of wet stones, paired with an invigorating whiff of seaspray, and complemented with stone fruits. When drinking this wine, I get a feeling of a serene walk on a rain-soaked day, if that makes sense. The palate echoes the nose. The minerality and stone fruit nuances continue, with a backdrop of medium-plus acidity that keeps the experience lively. Medium-plus finish. The 2016 Domaine de la Pépière Clos des Briords is a wine that has gracefully evolved, revealing layers and depths that I feel weren't as apparent in its youth.

I don't drink a lot of muscadet, so I don't have an opinion in terms of typicity and I'm not going to give this a score. I will say, that for the humble appellation, this is a very well made wine and a great value. So many notes on the expansive mid-palate. Saline, a bit of lemon, sweetness, apple, iodine maybe, some type of rocky note. Much more complex than the price tag would suggest. Fresh, balanced, engaging.

Tasted over 4 hrs -translucent med gold -ripe apple wet stone faint iodine -med/med+ acidity, light/med- weight sweet-ish apple juice and faintly pineapple tropical dripping with mineral extract, very good length -more orchard fruit and tropical than usual though the light weight and minerality keep this a Briords, early in a long lovely drinking window
Rainwater fresh, minerally but a bit softer than my favorite renditions. Still one of the best bargains in white wine, though, and a pleasure to drink.

Did not mean to age this for this long, but found it tucked away in the cellar. Popped and poured at cooler than cellar temp. Beautiful shimmering pale gold color. Lovely nose of sea spray and herbes de Provence with just a hint of honey. Very lively palate with good minerality, lemon oil and a nice hit of acidity with that same hint of honey on the finish. Many good years left and an incredible value - I think I paid $14 for the bottle a few years ago.

A bit softer tone, lovely balanced citrus, lemon, some mineral, moderately rich and full. Signature grape character still evident, perhaps more modestly than prior bottles. No aged notes as such. Drank over two nights, good on both, nice with grilled salmon day 1.

Still going very strong and even developing upwards. Petrol like nose, grassy with lemon peal. Ripe lemons, good acidity but also more yellow fruits finishing with a mineral streak. Not like licking an oyster anymore but but more fruit focussed. Lovely wine.

One of my favorite producers of muscadet and vineyards. The nose is riper than usual with a bit of a tropical nose, likely the result of global warming, but very enticing. The palate brings crushed seashells, a bit of citrus, grapefruit, but not Sauvignon blanc levels, good acidity, and a mineral finish. Very enjoyable with my roast halibut and red chermola sauce.

My 11th bottle of this. Such focus, poise, and breadth. Savory, chalky mineral, citric goodness. With a thrum of leesy richness anchoring the sharpness. Like rainwater filtered through crushed slate and yuzu essence. Starting to show hints of secondary complexity but still very young. 4 bottles left and hoping that they last until 2026.

——The flavor has its own surface tension, like a skin, spatially defined by contact with nerves. It’s reflective, almost neutral, and then it snaps open. Sensory immersion happens in an instant. ——It tastes like apples salted until they are soft and frictionless; like braised porcini mushrooms, dark rain clouds, and birch tea in a rocking chair. Golden acidity of nectarine ancestry is produced by chewing on a drink of it. It always ends stony. ——Can Muscadet experience developmental dumb phases? At four years of age, this wine is still primordial. Its dough is still being mixed. And yet the tantrums of infancy are far behind it. It’s lost in its books and puzzle pieces.

Crystalline pale hay color, some distinct toasty notes on the nose, lovely medium intensity fruit, quite lithe and taut, sea shell, just a hint of saline, great acidity, finishes with drawn out chalky minerality. One of the worlds best QPR wines.

First go on a Pepiere ever. Big fan of acidic wines so lets go! White fruits, lemon and lime but also grassy, great acidity, seashell saltiness, a bitter note and minerality. Pretty long finish. I noticed a small oxidative note in the back if I'm not mistaking. Typicality of this wine or a minor flaw? Was I blown away as I hoped, no not really but it is definitely a wine I very enjoy. Hope the future will develop this wine further, got 5 left. Screaming value for 12,50 euro.

Deceptively good, concur with recent notes, lemon, lime, mineral, saline & chalk, light floral notes, good acidity very much in step with the fruit. Subtle nose and graceful palate of light richness, good length. Interesting, vintage & age variation-- have had 2014 and 2015 in last 6 months or so, all have signature elements, but this may not be quite as rich as some and age perhaps only beginning to tell. Drank through 2013 over 6 years and they all developed so nicely. Likewise the 2010 & 2012 Clisson, really kicked it.

My final 2016. Opened yesterday, drinking today with a cool chill on it. This bottle is similar to the one six months ago, showing melon, a rounder texture, bitter apple, tart lemon curd and some of the marine/briny notes in the finish. $20 for this stuff....still seems like a crime is being done when I buy these.
2 years after the last Bottle the wine now has arrived where I expected it. Though that does not mean it does not go further. It drinks lovely. I had it with Veal escalope, mashed potato and turnip stalk. Honeysucle and a lot of minerality. Very fresh and very long at the same time. Brilliant.

It's a bit silly that a wine like this comes across the ocean and to my cellar and it cost $18. That's crazy. Medium gold color, something flinty/salty nose. Wasn't really getting sea spray. Good acidity matched up with apple and tropical fruit. Really nice wine.

MNB: High Acid Whites (Home (Noe st)): (blind) Medium Straw. Dry. Medium intensity aromatics of yellow apple, slight balsamic (VA?). Dry - maybe 2g RS. 13.5% alcohol. Slight oxidation. Screaming high acid. Neutral barrels, no oak.
Laterals: - Furmint - usually more waxy, dirty - Vouvray sec - usually has more RS (5-8g) - Chablis - not usually this oxidative. Alcohol would be lower. - Savennieres - fits
Called: 2016 Savennieres good quality. Really smells like Chablis though - leesy and apply. Actual: 2016 La Pepiere, clos de briords, vieilles vignes, Muscadet Sur Lie. Stainless Steel vats, 8m on lees. Analysis: I was totally off on alcohol (actually 12%)

A bit muted at first but really singing after 5 hours open. Classic laser acid, perhaps not as focused or as long as the ‘17 or the ‘14, but I’m really enjoying the mineral edge, the tropical fruit notes (mango, passion fruit), and the general exuberance.

Pale gold color as expected. Saline aromas of citrus and sea breeze. Energetic, almost intense but with a pleasing balance of; lemon, orange peel, mineral, herbs and light salinity on the palate. This is not a one trick pony like Muscadets all too often are. This has the acidity but also the fruit depth to balance out Muscadet's normal tendency towards austerity. Dare I say even a hint of richness! 12% ALC is great in today's all too prevalent 14.5% plus alc levels.

Very subtle nose, citrus leaning to grapefruit and lemon. Steely and mineral with quinine and lemon. Nice acidity. Not quite sure what a great pairing would be.
Clear light lemony straw colored. Relatively quiet on the nose- hints of salty sea. Softer on the palate than previous vintages. Still some citrus peel and minerals with decent acidity. This is gentler than I remember the 2013. It has a very nice cucumber saline profile (thank you SiR) that I really like. A lovely reflective aperitif.

I agree with others who note that this is not as good as some other recent vintages-- there is a certain richness that is lacking here. That said, the acidity, minerality, and freshness still make for a great seafood wine.

Almost colourlessly pale lemon. Lemon, sherbet, mineralite on the nose. Understated, lively precise palate with lemon, green apple, mineralite. The gentle, refined character of 2016. Outstanding stuff. Off vines planted in 1930.

Lemon peel on the nose. On the palate, lemon, grapefruit, and a saline note on the medium finish, with good acidity. Very good, and it should improve over the next few years. The 2014 was a bit better, but it's not reasonable to complain about this at under $20 - it's still an outstanding deal.

First of 18. I love it. This is my stuff. Textbook Muscadet with everything you would expect, Lemon, Apple and especially a great salinity, wonderful yeast notes, like a vintage champagne without fizz. Fairly quiet nose of lime zest and granny smith apple and some brine. On the palate, more of the same, along with some minerals and salt on the clean finish. This lacks the verve and drive of the last couple vintages and is really rather disappointingly sedate. Bottle 1/12. Great stuff, somewhere in between the '14 and '15. Assertive but not slap your face acidity, broad waxy richness, a lick of slate, but less overt salinity than the previous 2 years.

Brilliant.

Decanted for 30 min. Tart apples aromas, lemon, minerals, w mild saline, iodine notes. Palate flavors are similar to the aromas. Fantastic acids that are rounded by just enough fruit. Nice minerality and a nice moderate lingering finish. Really nice.

A year since last bottle. Steel, mineral, lime and sea spray on the attack. Noticeably broader on the palate, especially after 4 hours open. More honeysuckle and aromatic complexity at the sacrifice of a bit of the tension.

It's a bit silly that a wine like this comes across the ocean and to my cellar and it cost $18. That's crazy. Medium gold color, something flinty/salty nose. Wasn't really getting sea spray. Good acidity matched up with apple and tropical fruit. Really nice wine.

Medium Straw.
Dry.
Medium intensity aromatics of yellow apple, slight balsamic (VA?).
Dry - maybe 2g RS.
13.5% alcohol.
Slight oxidation.
Screaming high acid.
Neutral barrels, no oak.
Laterals:
- Furmint - usually more waxy, dirty
- Vouvray sec - usually has more RS (5-8g)
- Chablis - not usually this oxidative.

Will try again in a couple of months.

Lemon, sherbet, mineralite on the nose.
Understated, lively precise palate with lemon, green apple, mineralite. The gentle, refined character of 2016. Outstanding stuff.

Textbook Muscadet with everything you would expect, Lemon, Apple and especially a great salinity, wonderful yeast notes, like a vintage champagne without fizz. Bottle 1/12. Great stuff, somewhere in between the '14 and '15. Assertive but not slap your face acidity, broad waxy richness, a lick of slate, but less overt salinity than the previous 2 years. Lemon, lemon pith, lemon curd. Grace and balance like a Puligny. Beautiful finish of winesap apples, just ripening banana, and a tiny hint of clove.
