A wine that just makes you smile. You stick your nose in the glass and this wine is alive. Cherries, strawberries, and a bit of funky complexity leaping out the glass. That follows through into the palette with more cherry and sous bois and spices. Dusty tannins and a long finish. It's in a lovely place but has tons more life in it.

Beautiful Morgon entering its drinking window. Cherries, earthy, savory, and coca cola (yes, I know). Very fresh and vibrant on the palate as well with great acidity. Worth seeking! 91-92p.

No contemporaneous notes. Dark colored, floral Gamay nose, concentration. spice and balanced on the palate. Excellent, and enjoyed by all at my friend's dinner.
Served with the main course of incredible chicken, sprouts, beets and polenta, followed an excellent Domaine Marc Morey Chassagne 1er Cru Les Vergers a 2022 Kumeu River Coddington Chardonnay, and a 2001 Karsmuhle "Lorenzhofer" Riesling Auslese with a 2000 Bordeaux afterwards.

So floral, pretty, airy, with red cherries, tart red currants, lots of earthy and savory aromas. The palate is crisp, pure, with dusty tannins and crunchy, zesty strawberries and raspberries. Lots of spicy earth, rose petals, clove, white pepper, leather -- there's a lot going on here. The mouthfeel is gorgeous and I think this will continue to improve for quite some time.

Dark purple red. Detailed earthy, mineral nose intermingles dark purple fruits and pomegranates, heathland and a saline infused coastal sous bois. Youthful dark fruited palate, said, again predominantly pomegranate fruit, mineral infused, sapped, weightless and just delightful. My last bottle 3 years ago was very closed, this is just opening up but there is really no rush.

So nice to drink now. I liked this more than a few years ago, more settled, round, balanced, more depth. Cherry and tart raspberry on the nose, some typical but pleasant Morgon earthiness/ mushroom and barnyard smell, hint of rosemary. The taste brings out the tart fruit. High on acidity yet balanced with the fruit. This wine needs food.
Had the first half of the bottle a few days ago with chickpea salad (nice) and put the rest in the fridge. It was brilliant tonight with chicken pot pie! The acidity cut nicely through the creaminess and the chicken/ vegetable / pastry flavors and the wine lifted each other.

Do take my score w a grain of salt - Clearly a superb wine, but just not my style. Quite a bit of sediments, more than I expected with only 6 years. I’ve had Beaujolais a couple times before, and while I love the cheaper entry level stuff (jadot Beaujolais village is a killer go to at any wine shop with insane qpr), the finer Beaujolais (tried aged metras before) is not something I vibe with as well due to the earthy mushroomy aromas / flavor. I think this is what draws a lot of ppl to this type of wine, as it is so distinctive and quite interesting. But just a matter of taste, not my thing.

Max s Bday bash at Juice Winebar, Singapore - brief notes due to (nice) distraction of social engagement. True to form for a Foillard Py. Still very primary and a vintage that struck me as middle of the road, neither filigreed nor marked by heat.

Touch of barnyard which settles to the background with air and adds a well judged nuance to the complexity. Expressive black cherry and tart raspberry interwoven with earthy notes. Wafts of cloves and lavender. Medium to full bodied with fresh acidity and fine tannins. Lovely palate intensity with great persistence on the finish. Drinking well now but should continue to evolve positively. Very enjoyable.
WSET Notes:
Pale garnet.
Pronounced on the nose with black cherry, tart raspberry, lavender, rosemary, clove, barnyard, smoke, earth, wet stone, leather. Developing.
Pronounced and dry on the palate with black plum coming through. Medium plus body, low tannins, medium alcohol, high acidity, long finish.
Can drink now but has potential for ageing.

I selected a wine to pair with a pastrami-on-rye dinner party: an excellent choice, if I do say so. This is super-scrumptious Gamay, and I wish I had more than just one bottle left (of two). Perfumed in the best way, deep and rich. What a fine bottle of Beaujolais this was!

Very similar to my prior tasting notes. Two bottles, the 2017 then the 2018 with a dinner. The 2018 was clearly the bolder and fuller bodied wine of the two, rounder, bit more oak. 2017 in comparison was more elegant and aromatic of the two (and more expressive). The 2017 is absolutely stunning with some slightly stronger flavored starters (beef carpaccio will also work), seafood with a richer sauce. In a good spot right now for this wine, and can still keep for longer if needed. Wish I had more of this vintage as it blows away the higher scored vintage of 2018 (though 2018 is better with stronger meatier proteins and even with lamb).

93 Extraordinario, como siempre. Precioso color, capa media-baja. Nariz algo esquiva, fruta roja, tostados. En boca es absolutamente maravilloso, frutal, cereza ácida, guindas, buena acidez. Larguísimo, con un final de boca redondo, amable, muy sabroso. Un vino que bebería todos los días. Tremendo. Mucha calidad en añada fría.

dense ruby with a bit of interference. cola, dark cherry, dark berry, licorice, cinnamon scented pine cone nose. medium acidity, medium body. mid palate is smooth with concentrated raspberry flavor with some green stems. savory. goes sour and a bit rustic with some sandpaper fine tannins prominently featured on the finish. good depth and complexity. will be better if it smooths out with some time. day 2: smoother, tannins significantly tamed, still shows some toasted wood. day 3: pine scents nicely integrated on the nose, palate has swung to savory but still with good, powerful flavors

Super enjoyable - wonderful Beaujolais joy with some seriousness folded in. Really pretty candied red fruit, some earth and darker notes starting to show with development - not quite to the point that it can pass for pinot (as happens with aged Beaujo sometimes) but getting there - I'd love to keep some of these wines for drinking with 10+ years age.

Ready to drink and as good on its own as with carnitas tacos. A pleasure, especially in contrast to a [possibly-flawed] 2015 Marcel Lapierre Morgon Cuvée Marcel Lapierre. Now-2026.

Perfumed with violets, lavender. Really floral. Sour cherries, red plums and cranberries. A touch of brett but just a touch.. enough to make it interesting and not more. Medium tannins and an ageable but food-friendly structure. So aromatic and really lovely.

That’s the problem with natural wines. First bottle tasted like all the sugars had carried on fermenting in bottle, leaving it bone dry and cardboard-like. However, bottle two is a delight. Bright cherry soda nose, undertows of damson, plum stone, sarsaparilla and cola cubes. Beautiful, silky mid-weight fruit, superb balance and poise. You can see why cru Beaujolais is the new burgundy.

Cette bouteille se goute nettement mieux que la dernière. On retrouve bien la patte de Mr Foillard, sur ce côte du Py d'une grande buvabilité et avec une belle longueur en bouche. Très bien +

Nicely evolved - initially a lifter red fruit, then mulling spices, rich plum and blackberry. Fantastic depth of flavour - really sapid and moreish with a spot on lick of acidity and tannin. Great wine in a great spot

Dark cherry, licorice, violets, a little bit of earth. Easily the best Beaujolais I’ve ever had. It has that perfect nip of VA that makes the aromas explode out of the glass.
If I had multiple bottles I’d have no issue popping the next one any time.

Explosive berry nose soars out of the glass a moment after the bottle has been opened - raspberry, cranberry, touch of blackcurrant. Palate has a very slight prickle. All the fruit plus a firm, cleansing dry kick of minerality. So good, so complete

Immensely pleasurable, silky dark cherry fruit with tannins that soften after about an hour. Has a stony and mineral quality tonit, fantastic with food. Touch of VA and brett, very au naturale, "murky" but in all good ways.

[holiday @ domaine Bessière] briliant wine, served slightly chilled, PnP and immediately impressed by the parfumed nose of rose petals, back current, blackberry, red currant, cherries, blueberry, spices. Medium+ acidity, medium- fine tannins, long finish. Already some development noticeable, what a great glass!

PnP starts off with a great nose but a bit inexpressive on the palate, but eventually unfurls over the course of 3 hours to become a progressively more ecstatic wine. By the end of the evening this is singing in multiple registers. Great balance of acidity and minerals, with bright cherry fruit, cherry pits, and peony florals. Lovey perfume on the mid-palate and long finish - can’t but help at smile at how charming this wine is. Starts with slightly stiff tannic grip, but in a perfect place after some air.

13% alcohol. Annoying hard wax top, with a good short cork underneath. Pale ruby colour, close to translucent. Very pure intense nose of redcurrant and cranberry. The mouth is equally striking in a searing uncompromising way; you need to brace yourself for this wine which takes no prisoner. Short on comfort but long on purity (save for a fleeting eggy whiff, just to remind one that we are in low sulphur territory). A success of its type. Not sure that I prefer it to the more mainstream Bouland.

Tasted blind. Excellent. Pretty aromas of flowers and sweet strawberries with light herbal and gamey nuances. Delicious red fruit that lithely glides along the tongue before finishing with serious mouth-drying tannins. I’ve realized, in my blind tasting experiences, that gamay and grenache are quite similar, and those are my two top options here. I am going to go with grenache due to the red fruit and tannins, and because I’m not sure gamay is capable of reaching this quality level. I figure this is young New World grenache from a high-end producer. Rating: 95.
Lovely - pleasing - sweet and savory. Nose of earth, funk, cherry and berry fruits. A bit more rich fruit forward than other vintages but might just needs time. Still - it's a pleasing and seductive, mouth watering wine. Year after year, one of the best wines for the $

Did a vertical tasting tonight with friends. Jean Foillard Morgon Côte du Py 2019, 2018, and 2017
The 2017 here wins hands down. In a way it is a bit unfair but expected. A cooler vintage but with 5 years age. The color is interesting, darker than 2019, a shade less dark than 2018, but some coloring at the rim suggesting a bit more evolved (in a good way I suppose, but what do I know). It is in a good spot now but also with plentiful aging potential. The acidity and nose were things that grabbed my attention, and absolutely brilliant with food. When lightly chilled, the balance and structure were excellent compared to the off balanced 2018 and 2017. Here you have the right amount of fruit, tannin, acidity, structure, astringency, and a killer almost minute long lingering slow fading finish...and yes you can taste some oak in a good way. Even though I think 2016 was my favorite, this 2017 is really superb right now. Just goes to show that in the right spot, cooler lower score climate vintage, right moment, can outperform a top scoring vintage that's a bit younger. Makes you wonder about professionally rated wine score sometimes. In the end I only trust my own tastes.

So far, I've preferred 16>19>18>17. This is still a fine beaujolais, enjoyed PnP in Grassl cru with a charcuterie board. But of the renditions of Cote du Py, this is in danger of falling a little out of balance toward the acidic side. Grainy tannins are still present, so this comes off as sharp in comparison to other vintages, but still among my very favorite Cru bojo bottlings

Initial bouquet of pear. Needs to open up. Very fresh on the palate with damp forest floor. Mildly tannic with diminishing acid. Initial tartness diminishes. Lavender bouquet. Long finish. More interesting as it opens. Ate with Shepherds pie. Also goes well with a mild cheese and bread. A keeper.

The list of Beaujolais producers whose wines I love includes Foillard (and Metras, Dutraive, Bouland, Coudert, Cotton, Thivin, les Suniers (Antoine & Julien) and more recently, Balagny and I’m sure I’m forgetting others, no slight intended). This wine corroborates my affection; limpid red-purple, silky with an earthy backbone and enough oomph that you can nearly chew the wine. Impressive!

This might be the best Cote Du Py I've ever had, rivaling many a Grand Cru Burg for concentration, intensity, complexity & length. I opened 3hrs+ prior to dinner and slow-oxed in Riedel Vinum Burgs & btl the rest of the way. Semi translucent ruby red with amber edges. A very perfuse compelling nose with loads of sous bois, spice & flowers. A "bouquet" in every sense of the word. The palate was very placid, generous & elegant but w/ excellent lift & energy. Layers of ripe red cherry, raspberry, earth, mineral, basil and again that compelling tertiary damp forest floor thing usually reserved for 15yr old+ Burgs. This is special. I've mostly dabbled with Foillard's CdPy, 2 or 3 btls here, 2 or 3 there. Skipping vintages. Going forward, I'm no longer skipping a vintage :). Geez, I only paid $32? Drinks like $125+ 94+

Textbook super good Gamay. Can’t mistake it on the nose. Dark fruits, earthy, superb and clear freshness. Palate on the same line but more red fruit style, high acidity but also back bone. Amazing long finish. It comes back each time you swallow. For a warm vintage this is a beauty. It doesn't go in the stratosphere of complexity and depth but its so good for what it delivers. Woule be interested to see this in say 5-8 years

Beatiful fruit like raspberries and cranberries mixed together with leather and a green touch. Smooth and delicate but also lots of nuances that I wish I would have taken more time to analyze. One bottle left, drink within 0-2 years I would say.

Ruby red, medium-bodied, medium-plus acidity and persistent finish. Medium tannins, but very fine and velvety in texture. Its red fruits are really singing, together with cherries, violets and its deep yet elegant earthiness. The wine is ageing gracefully and has already a lot to say.

Tasted next to the 2016. A fascinating difference, that was easy for inexperienced tasters to pick out. The 2017 was the lighter of the two, with beautiful floral notes complementing the tart acidity.

Very earthy nose along with tea leaves, menthol, wet gravel, tar. Very faint wiffs of red berry linger in the background.
Light to medium bodied in the mouth, the wine shows pronounced red cherry, cranberry, strawberry, and red currant fruit up front. Mineral and light earth tones mix into the mid-palate and bring a sense of place, certainly French. Sour red cherry and raspberry round out the medium long finish that is dry and elegant. Grippy tannin and lively acidity on the back end lends structure and freshness.
Overall, very lovely cru Beaujolais that is still quite young. This should evolve into a more Burgundian wine over the next 5 to 10 years, gaining even more elegance and nuance. Hold until 2025 and then drink until 2032+.

Red cherries, spices, berries, and a hint of cedar on the nose. Great acidity with present tannic structure and notes of maraschino cherries, pomegranate, and strawberries. Nice finish. First time checking in on this and the wine feels still very young and primary. Clearly has the structure to age. It’s juicy now but my preference would be to drink this in 5 years. 93+

I have not tasted many Beaujolais so relatively inexperienced. Color is ruby red and unfiltered so a little cloudy. Very Pinot like in color and body. Raspberry and asian spices on nose. Medium+ acidity that makes it a better partner for food than on its own. Tannins are certainly present and drying but provides nice structure. wine should improve and mellow with age.

Love how this became a step up from the 2015 edition. Decanted for a few hours, drunk slightly chilled. Lovely nose of violets, rhubarb, crushed strawberries, blackcurrant and some oriental spice. The palate is rich, but not overextracted, making the acidity shine like a diamond. Just a brush of tannins to tighten things up. Lasts long into the night and makes one sad that we only had a single bottle.

Double blind tasting Medium ruby - unfiltered Medium plus aromas of ripe crunchy red and blue fruit with purple floral aspect in background - distinct barnyard/ VA aromas initially though these blew off quickly Medium bodied with palate of delicious cherry/ raspberry/ strawberry - not quite as crunchy and fresh as aromas would suggest however Medium fine grained tannins and medium plus acidity with medium alcohol and moderate finish Delicious and well balanced wine Drink now or next 3-5 yrs - This has the potential for further aging but Beaujolais is all about the fruit isnt it?

Opened and decanted an hour ahead of roasted herb King salmon and mixed vegetables. Bright, glowing purple-ruby color. Nose brings barnyard funk, cherry blossoms, raspberry compote, and lavender. The palate is medium, round, crunchy, and juicy, bursting with notes of sour cherries, pomegranate, tart rhubarb, blackberries, blueberries, and orange peel on the lively finish. This was one of the more enjoyable wines we've had this year. Drink 2021-2026. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 95.

Quite different fruit profile from Foillard's Corcelette, the 2017 Côte du Py veers blue with blueberry and a crushed stone profile. Good concentration, but a wine of finesse, bright with blue fruit on the palate. Drink now through 2030.

After two hours of aeration in the carafe, the nose, superbly open and nicely expressive, displays aromas of blood orange, potpourri of rose petals and crushed red fruits (strawberries & raspberries). It's a bit funky so not everyone will be receptive. On the palate, the attack is frank. The mid-palate is generous in ripe and fleshy fruit (mainly cherry), it's medium to full-bodied with powdery tannins. A few subtle smoky notes remind me of how the '15 paired perfectly with barbecued meat. A slight bitterness lengthens the sapid finish and maintains the taste buds on alert. It's delicious! It would be a shame to miss it! [Photo on Instagram]

I haven't drunk a Foillard I didn't love cork to empty. Vintage to vintage, they're been the most consistent, ethereal, deep, and delightful Cru Beaujolais wines I've experienced. This wine will drink just as well and with less tannin in 2031. Yep, I love it.

A bit murky and cloudy on the first night, with sharp acidity. A bit out of balance. Air did this good and it improved on day two. But, it just feels a bit jagged and lacking the je nais se quois of a great Foillard. Having now had the Corcelette and now the Py, I can comfortably say I have been underwhelmed by Foillard's 17s.

13.5% - Hazy, med ruby / clean, pronounced intensity - cherry, black and red berry mixture, fresh violet, wet stone, cinnamon stick / dry, med acidity, med to low silky tannin, med- body, pronounced intensity with a persistent finish. This one evolved in the right direction compared to the last bottle we had last year. Very nice!
Minerals and salinity on the nose, with some fresh cut herbs, menthol, and funk — there’s fruit, but a little tough to distinguish. The palate comes alive a bit more with bright acidity and a lithe feel. A bunch of red and black fruit on the palate with earthy and herbal notes. Very good, first of these I’ve had.

On opening, not too impressive with some spiky acidity and slight volatility. Come alive with exposure to air. Showing a very black fruit character, like fresh just-ripe blackberries on a country walk, some green leaf, plenty of savoury tones too. Still not quite living up to my memory of this wine from last year but nice, fine and intriguing nonetheless.

Decanted. Now 2h after decant. Expressive aromas of intense, lifted just ripe red cherries and blackberries, hint of bubblegum, herbs, bark and just a bit of earth. Palate w just ripe red cherries and blackberries, herbs, hint of bubblegum and earth. The berries are certainly ripe but not overripe and it's all balanced by fantastic acids. Mild tannins on midpalate adds to the structure w the acids. Drinking very nicely.

Very disappointing today. The last 2 bottles two months ago were absolutely delicious but this was one did not show well at all. Thin, lacking any kind of backbone. Some fruit but with some harsh bitterness and heat on the finish. Over 3h, it never wanted to open and soften up.
Over two evenings this was very good. Good Beaujolais character but not too fruity as so many are. I'm not terribly experienced with Beaujolais, but Foillard seems to be my favorite producer.

A vibrant wine in every respect. Vivid colour, prominent fruit, reverberant energy. Takes a little time to open up and shed its slightly sandy tannins, after which you can enjoy a cherry-led, mineral and perfectly balanced experience. My only bottle, interested to see how this wine would show in a few years.

Quite dark, nearly opaque garnet, oozes deep fruit compote on the nose, some dried herb notes, on the palate, juicy, vibrant, darker berry fruit, intensely flavorful, with mouthwatering acidity. Framed by the warmth of the vintage, but doesn’t cross over to being overly ripe or sweet in any way.

-- one glass poured out of bottle 1 hour before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours on Day 1; revisited on Day 6 –
NOSE: quite ripe; slightly carbonic (less than usual for this bottling); little bit of leathery funk (again, less than usual for this wine); hint of earthy musk. Day 6: strong strawberry note has stepped to the forefront.
BODY: dark ruby color of medium to medium-deep depth; medium bodied.
TASTE: lightly tannic; moderate amount of the usual funk I find in this wine; red-fruited; I love this. Day 6: funk is pretty much entirely gone now, leading me to think it was reduction. Drink Now with lots of air, or continue to Hold.

Nez floral, fraises et un peu de poivre. La bouche est rafraîchissante, acidité vive et des tannins soyeux et veloutés. I am a little bit surprised by the comments on the structure, I found the acidity sufficient but below average for a Morgon and the tannins very light. Even so highly enjoyable wine and unusually clean for a Foillard, although I seldom fine them bretty there is often a hint and there is also often som malolactic funk. None of that here. Dark berry fruit and gravelly minerality as I love about a good Morgon, silky as I love about Foillard.

13.5% alcohol. Annoying rigid wax top. Pretty average cork. Youthful colour with good depth. The nose is immediately captivating, with intense pure red berries, redcurrant and cranberries mostly, with some violet added; pretty intoxicating stuff. The mouth is just as good, with the violet component more in evidence. A poster child for all that is good in vin nature. The acidity is clearly there, but it is not piercing, and the wine is balanced, albeit in a high pitch register. So much better than the 2016 (or at least the bottle that I had), and frankly irresistible. Went well with roasted duck, a dish that I normally pair with Burgundy. A repeat purchase.
13.5% - Slightly hazy, med ruby / clean, pronounced intensity - morello cherry, cranberry, cinnamon stick, fresh violet, wet pebble stone / dry, med acidity, med to low silky tannin, med body, pronounced intensity, persistent finish. Youthfull, fruitforward and very expressive. 91(++) Better on the second night!

Really lovely bottle to go with dinner at au Passage in Paris with dishes that included cuttlefish/blood orange/aubergine squid ink + lamb shoulder with tangine spice chickpeas. Wine had a fresh but fruity nose with hints of spice and dried flowers. Palate had nice acidity, finessed tanins and lots of structure in the red/black fruit like cherry/pommegrante/raspberry and then a small hint of clove/cinnamon spice.

Fresh berry aroma, fruit forward with good depth. Nice medium/high acidity, low tannins, but enough structure for some years in the cellar. Balanced and well made from a above average vintage.

I served this in my wine course. Fragrant high pitched nose of raspberry and ocean breeze minerality. Light to medium weight. Excellent long mineral laden finish with plenty of acidity keeping it lively. Very enjoyable.

A hit of shitake on the nose. Reminds you of dark forgotten cellars. Fruit does not come through immediately but I sense sufficient complexity. Tannins also grippy amid a bracing acidity. Very worthy of a cru. Almost an aged burgundy-like. Good value

Translucent ruby. A little more VA than 2016, notes of olive, tart cranberry and candied raspberry, good purity of fruit. I feel like 2016 was a more complete wine but this is fresh and tastes a little more like a natural wine.

Had the 2016 vintage and was immediately in love. Tried the 2017 vintage only to find out I was still in love. Judging by these two vintages this producers seems consistent. Obvious notes of red Forrest fruit - raspberries come to mind. This is just so delicious and easy drinking. Like a fruit bowl exploding in your mouth. Low tannins, juicy and with perfect acidity. Wow don’t know what else to say but WOW!

Fresh and supple, juicy and youthful, charming rather than tight, wonderfully clean and pure Gamay, ripe green apple, peach and red cherries, spicy minerality, beautifully balanced, complete finish with the tell-tale green apple and granite finish of the Côte du Py, very good length. Excellent stuff. At Bar Bambino, Amsterdam, NL.

Back to the 2013 way of doing things at Cote de Py. Probably the vintage that does it. Acid back up. Rotten strawberries, smoke, a touch of animal and maybe even some orange peel. The mid palate is simply lovely. Fleshes out and is accessible but will likely integrate with time and pull itself together a few notches - something that won't hurt the wine. Mineralty is back on track and compared to the 2015 it doesn't suffer from the warmth. Like it en par with the 2016.

Semi translucent bright red with orange tones on the edges. A mix of light underbrush and berries on the nose. The palate has layers of; minerally, tart red fruit, underbrush, basil and game. I liked it but the acidity is bit edgy and I'm inclined to drink the last 2 btls within 5yrs.

Slightly stinky nose on opening. With some air it evolved into an intoxicating bouquet of deep red raspberries and cherries, spices, orange citrus and violets. Very forward on the palate supported by good level of acidity. Medium bodied, primarily ripe, deep red cherry fruit with a touch of earth and stony minerals trailing on the finish.

This wine presents a lovely perfumed bouquet of red cherries, red licorice, and crushed stone with floral hints on a nicely structured palate featuring lively acidity, good texture and a medium length finish. Opens up really nicely with time in the glass.
I'd almost given up on Beaujolais before trying this wine.

The nose has sweet cherries and pomegranate, is intensely floral and there is some pine resin? The sweetness makes it quite enjoyable now, but the acidity and tannins indicate significant ageing potential.

Very good restaurant list value. Classic Morgon with strawberry and raspberry fruit combined with earth and tobacco. Bolder than other Morgon’s I’ve had, but I actually love that quality. Tannins went nicely with the beef and pork.

2016. A Burgundy vintage I adore. So, it seems like a slam dunk for Beaujolais, right? Not entirely. This wine in 2016 was higher toned, with a sweet strawberry note that seemed out of place and atypical. The 2017 version is back to classic, dark gamay fruit, great flavor and depth, with mouthwatering acidity, some nice tannic structure, just delicious wine.

2017 Cru Beaujolais with a Few Slightly Older Wines: Clear ruby. Floral red fruit. Lighter and not as imbued with soil as the Corcelette, but brighter, tart red fruit. Really excellent although not as sappy and sinuous as this cuvée can be.

Classic Cote du Py. Cherry, cherry pit, florals, herbs, granite, and a sprinkling of blood and bone. Fresh, crunchy, focused and full of life. We decanted this for a couple of hours, but consumed over 2 days and it remained solid all the way through.

There were bright cherry aromas and another prominent smell that I couldn't quite identify. There was good depth on the palate. This was enjoyable now, but also seems to have the structure to improve for many years.

A touch of volatility punches up violet and red berry fruits into the nostrils. Cherry and berry fruit flavours abound on the palate and it has some stalk and meat too. It is silky of texture and crunchy on the finish. An engaging wine playing nicely in that space between sweet and savoury.

A whole meadow of flowers, sour cherries, violets. This is very Beaujolais. Upper class beaujolais. The purity in the mouth is increadible, crispy fruit, youthfull & fresh. Waw. Very original wine. THis is of course young. But why wait? Is it going to be better with cellering. Don't know, but I would not be able to keep my hands of this one.

Tasted both at Les Papilles and Bistro Paul Bert; this is The Real McCoy in terms of high class Beaujolais. Exciting, vibrant and with a very good, yet generous fruit, a firm acidity, that is never too much. Very well received by the geriatric set. #LesPapilles#SangforeningenMorgenrødensParistur
Drank at Semilla. A small step down from the 2016. Lacked the general completeness that the 2016 had - or perhaps, the 2017 just needs a little more time in bottle to settle down. With that said, I wouldn't hesitate to load up on the '17, really good stuff.

Dark purple red.
Detailed earthy, mineral nose intermingles dark purple fruits and pomegranates, heathland and a saline infused coastal sous bois.
Youthful dark fruited palate, said, again predominantly pomegranate fruit, mineral infused, sapped, weightless and just delightful.

Really pretty candied red fruit, some earth and darker notes starting to show with development - not quite to the point that it can pass for pinot (as happens with aged Beaujo sometimes) but getting there - I'd love to keep some of these wines for drinking with 10+ years age.

Rating: 95.

Je ne suis jamais déçu avec un Foillard Côte du Py. Un beaujolais avec beaucoup de matière, d'équilibre et une belle longueur en bouche. Les fruits rouges sont présents en abondances autant en bouche que sur le nez.

Medium purple, unfiltered
Aromatics medium +. Initial barnyard, followed by fresh, crunchy raspberry and blueberry. Violets
Palate has medium body. Acid medium +. Tannins medium on teeth and tongue. Alcohol medium. Ripe, sweet cherry, raspberry but lacked the candied notes I commonly get with cru Beaujolais.
Finish has medium - length. Balanced
Drink now

Double blind tasting
Medium ruby - unfiltered
Medium plus aromas of ripe crunchy red and blue fruit with purple floral aspect in background - distinct barnyard/ VA aromas initially though these blew off quickly
Medium bodied with palate of delicious cherry/ raspberry/ strawberry - not quite as crunchy and fresh as aromas would suggest however
Medium fine grained tannins and medium plus acidity with medium alcohol and moderate finish
Delicious and well balanced wine
Drink now or next 3-5 yrs - This has the potential for further aging but Beaujolais is all about the fruit isnt it?

Opened and decanted an hour ahead of roasted herb King salmon and mixed vegetables. Bright, glowing purple-ruby color. Nose brings barnyard funk, cherry blossoms, raspberry compote, and lavender. The palate is medium, round, crunchy, and juicy, bursting with notes of sour cherries, pomegranate, tart rhubarb, blackberries, blueberries, and orange peel on the lively finish. This was one of the more enjoyable wines we've had this year. Drink 2021-2026. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 95.

C'est bien mais on est loin du sublime 2016,
beaucoup mieux que le 2015 cependant selon mes souvenirs.
Simple et léger, digeste et sans accroc.
Beau vin de soif, sans défaut,

Wonderful with tannins and acidity, some grass and unmature berries and strawberries. After an hour i think some licorise appears. Its very balanced and easy drinking. Love it!

Don’t understand the hype here.
Boring wine, not bad, but really boring

A bouquet of violets and fresh berries opens up in the glass, there is energy and verve in the mouth, deep, lively flavors of plum, blackberry, cherry and floral hints, crunchy mineral finish, balanced, clean, should age well, nice with cheeses

Drank at Semilla. A small step down from the 2016. Lacked the general completeness that the 2016 had - or perhaps, the 2017 just needs a little more time in bottle to settle down. With that said, I wouldn't hesitate to load up on the '17, really good stuff.

mildly murky. a little natural funk blew off quickly. smoke and blackberries on the nose. medium bodied, well integrated acid, just a tad creamy. flavors of sweet blackberry, salted peach, iron shavings, and granite. super fine but abundant tannin leads into a long finish. a fresh, juicy, savory treat.
