Candie Does Cassoulet (Candie's, Mpls): Medium dark red color. Drank a glass over 90 minutes. Thishad 2 hours of slow O time. Provocative nose with a lot of deep moss and damp earthy forest floor, candied cherry fruit, followed by cassis and plum, tons of spices, sauvage, and suggestions of iron and metals. The palate is bright with cherry, candied cherry, cassis, huckleberry, iron, deep earth tones, high toned spice, sauvage, tart berries, round and medium fine tannins and a bit of a metallic finish. This is filled with tension and complexity. Loved it.

Man this was good; popped and let open for 45 min; no decant; lots of sediment noted on the bottle; initially had some hints of tertiary development, but quickly freshened into blackberry, blueberry, crushed rock, a hint of smoked pork, touch of olive, violet; classic Cornas and still so vibrant at 19; the depth and length with a grilled ribeye were excellent; killer stuff. Lots of time ahead.

Served after a Barge Cote Brune, this seemed almost smooth and gentle, yet when you look at it closer, it is still closed a bit; cool style, true to the vintage, olives, tar, smoke. black berries, intense wine, years to go. Wait. #Bagnols-en-Fôret

Commanderie des Costes du Rhone - Fall 2022 Kick-off (Claud): What a difference some time makes. This is a producer I've always avoided a bit because it just hasn't felt like my style and yet this was one of the best wines from him I've tried. It's tasty. More muted and structured and no very aggressive oak (usually the piece I struggle with). As that's integrated this is drinking much more nicely.

(Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas) Black dark red violet color; charcoal, incense and dried plum nose; tasty, layered, tart black fruit and berry palate; medium-plus finish
