  • Acker 200; 2/7/2020-2/8/2020 (The Pool & Cipriani): One of our bottles for the evening and a wine that I know I should really love but which I find that I just like. Odd because other years seems to speak to me more. This is almost port-like in style. Lots of dried fruits and all of that. Very nice age and to be honest still going strong. Was decanted for sediment which makes a huge difference for this wine. Works well.

  • The big 4-0 (Ristorante Morini): Probably should have looked at earlier notes for this bottle. In retrospect I would have decanted for sediment and then rebottled and probably given it a bit of time. I know many liked it, but for me this is missing some of the Unico power. When it poured it was similar to port. Lots of the dried fruit flavors. To be honest, alcohol a touch overpowering. That blew off with some time in the glass. It was good (and perhaps I am judging this partially because I know what it costs), but for me not quite at the level it should be.

  • A Few Favorite Wines (Vaucluse): Interesting wine for sure. This was very light - almost the color I would expect of a burgundy. I have a feeling that this could have used a splash decant to get it off the sediment, but instead we went with the pnp approach. Of all of the wines, it prob changed the most over time. The age is definitely there, but there's also a vibrancy to the wine. We have 3 more bottles and I won't be in a rush to drink them. Think there's lots of life left. For some this was WOTN. It was definitely very interesting. Looking forward to our next bottle.
