Decanted for 2+ hours. Served in a flight of 5 wines from 1993, 30 years from vintage. Meo Richebourg, Mongeard-Mugneret Richebourg, Bouchard La Romanee and a corked Rouget Cros Parantoux. I ranked this first in the flight. Soaring nose, spices, sandalwood and faded cherry. Lithe and elegant palate, a little lean and firm with a slight hollowing out in the mid-palate. Very mineral laden on the long finish.

Ginger spice aromas along with raspberry and cherry fruits. Fruits have a tart edge to them in the mouth and the palate is firm. It is a little lean through the mid and finishes with good minerally detail.

I purchased this wine on release. Slightly stemmy upon opened but the steminess disappearred after some air. The acidity is balanced with the complex flavors. Absolutely authoritative. The best bottles should continue to improve for 5-10 years.

Zachy's La Paulee 2022 (Le Bernardin Prive): 12988/17006. Acidity-forwards and a little angular. 93 DRC is just what it is, at least drunk with the correct expectation! 91-92

(DRC Romanee St. Vivant) Last time I had this bottle was two years ago and it was singing. It seems to be younger today than when I had it some time ago. Tight upon opening but after twenty minutes this was roaring aromatically and showing great DRC spice and floraity. A deep nose. Lots to inhale. Palate as Yaacov put it was "very '93." Lots of acid and tannin with somewhat disjointed flavors. The fruit was huge and massively concentrated. Tannins were big but ripe. This seemed to be in an awkward stage. I know this wine can be better. I would hold this for five more years.
(DRC Romanee St. Vivant) Lovely nose of asian spices, dried roses, bright melange of berry fruits, mineral. Very high-toned. Huge palate with great concentration and tannin. Tannins were ripe and balanced beautifully with all the components of the wine. Great purity and density in the mouth without being the slightest bit overwhelming. Had a nice sweetness of fruit and tannin. After around three hours open the wine began to shut down. Very expressive even in it's shut down state. Brilliant wine
