  • This was truly a rare gem. Production 50+ years ago for this label was merely a few thousand cases, unlike the left bank wines of easily 15,000 cases and above. This vineyard was only a stone throw away from the famed Petrus, and neighboring Lafleur as well. JP Moueix who owns Petrus bought over the vineyard in 1953, so the style has a resemblance of Petrus as well. Bouquet of very ripe cherry, and certainly appealing. Upon tasting, I truly enjoyed the roundedness as well as the totally ripe fruits that simply melted in my palette, leaving a trace of lengthy and enjoyable aftertaste. Certainly this was the prime window to drink this wine right now, and with a bit of imagination, also resemblance of drinking a Petrus 61

  • Leiden at restaurant Vermeer Amsterdam: Almost 50-year old Bordeaux. Surprisingly nose is still very fresh. Lovely mature taste and colour, fully integrated tannins, soft, some acidity. Drinks ever so easy.
