Post Barolo with Bill & Crew: Eucalypt, cherry, redcurrant and tobacco on the nose. Palate is holding up well, medium bodied and with enough fruit and structure but ready for drinking now as it is resolved. Classic Coonawarra Cab.

Monthly tasting - Cabernet Sauvignon / Blends (JM (SL)): Tasted blind. Cassis, and that bright green capsicum nose. As per previous bottles of 91 Wynns tasted in the past 5 years, persistent cassis, leather and sprightly acidity. Wonderful. Very consistent considering the modest price. Unsure if there is much upside to further cellaring. Provenance believed to be sound, with the same owner since release. [SL]

Quite sharp to begin with, but really softened and opened after half an hour or so exposed to air. Lovely old, slightly musty nose, a deeper palate. I would say not getting any better, drink while you can.

Impeccable storage here. Level into the neck. Still deeply coloured with minimal bricking. Belies it's age. Black fruits, cassis, chocolate, dried herbs. Resolved palate but so well packed with flavour. Delicious.

Dark, dense nose of blackberry and pencil lead, with herbal notes of basil and mint. Palate shows rich, smooth, polished tannins, backed by good acidity. Flavours of blackberry, aniseed, thyme, and mint, with a hint of blueberry. Intensely-flavoured, fruit-dominant palate, with a very long finish. Tasted much younger than 27 years old.
