This wine, as old as I am, could be a 99. I don't usually drink wine this age. So I have little experience to compare. But I have drunk many a 98-100 point wine, and this was as enjoyable. One bottle left.

Pnp at home. Bottle with almost completely torn label but outstanding fill at around 2.5cm. Must be the best cork ever, very tight, and while the bottom end of the cork falls off despite using a Durand, the top quarter is dry and clean. In the glass the wine has a dark garnet core with only marginal browning toward a translucent rim. Blind I would have guessed 90s or even 02/04. With sous bois on the nose, and initially acidic on the palate, the wine needs air in the open bottle to gain weight, and shows still good concentration at age 54 and not much of the usual advanced leather notes. Unfortunately there is always this hint of TCA showing. So while perfect in closure, the cork must have been just slightly contaminated. What a shame - without the TCA this would have certainly been around the 93-94 mark.

Decanted for 2h at Garths's. Tart spicy nose of red berries. Up front tart cherries, hints of oak, but the finish is a bit acidic and flat. Clearly over the hill, but a totally fun experience nonetheless.

Likely passed its prime. One dimensional, overly sweet. Group tasting, all agreed not worth the money in 2023.
