It’s a bit shy at first. The glass needs to warm up a little. White peach, citrus, nougat and salted nuts. Lovely acidity and length. Don’t serve too cold and give it some time.

Yellow apple, ginger marmalade and honey. Really spicy and layered. Power, structure and finesse. Lovely.

Thick black fruits. Blackberry, black currant and plum. It isn’t heavy though. Great balance. Spice, eucalyptus and dark chocolate. Tannin is firm. Still young.

Opens initially with intense blackberry and plum. Very fragrant. Woodsy spice and earth. It starts to brighten up with air. Kind of a chocolate coated raspberry thing. The slate starts to come through with the acidity. Long. Impressive.

Was best on day 3 with poached strawberry and black berry, redskins, rose water and musk. Some liquorice too. Built structure and complexity with silky tannins over 3 days. Starts with a little sweetness but finishes savoury and long.

Cherry, cola, and slight vanilla bean thing. Bit of herb and spice too. Acidity is nice and fresh. Medium bodied with some nice chalky tannin and a pretty good amount of flavour. Solid Tempranillo from the Hunter.

Similar to the previous tasting with mulberry, red plum and earth, but also a smoky, vegetal, medicinal whole bunch flavour I didn’t pick up first time around. Better for it too.

Has settled into itself a bit more since the freshly bottled one. More blackberry, plum, mulberry and spice now. Still has the clay pot tannin and good length. Has a brightness to it that makes me think red fruit. Only medium bodied and very drinkable.

Poached strawberry, raspberry and musk. Then darker fruits like plum and dark cherry. Only medium bodied but the acid is perfectly fresh and the tannin builds on the back palate with time. Starts a little sweetish but finishes savoury with good length too.
Not sure if it will be a long termer but a wonderful wine for the short to medium term.

Golden in colour. I’m not sure how long this spends on skins but I’d say a good amount of time. Good as in whatever they have done, it’s working. Lovely structure. Fun but serious. Fino sherry, yellow apple, some tropical fruit and a touch of honey and ginger. This is my type of skinsy white.

Needs air to show it’s true colours. Mulberry, boysenberry, red plum and scorched earth. Becomes more structured and fragrant. Good acidity and ultra fine but layered tannin.

Pretty dark in appearance but it smells brighter and is only just over medium weight. Mulberry, red plum, boysenberry, clay, pepper and dried, salty fruit. Tannin is silky with the structure mainly built on acid. The acid however is a little pokey and a little orange juice-like. The acid was much more integrated on day two and I found it way more enjoyable. Flavour profile would be great right now if it wasn’t for that added acid taste. Might be worth waiting a little longer to see if it folds in with time.

Opened with noticeable spicy oak. Black currant and red currant, eucalyptus, milk chocolate and dried herbs. Oak wasn’t as noticeable after a few hours or barely at all on day two. Tannin is a highlight. Grippy, gravelly and long.

Red and black currant, eucalyptus, dried herbs and coffee grounds. Balanced acidity and gravelly tannin. Good long finish. One of the bargains of Margaret River.

Filled out a bit since I tried at cellar door. Still a lean and bony style but there is no shortage of fragrance or flavour. Red cherry, raspberry, musk and flowers. Wet earth and leaves. A little Smoke or smoked meat even. Ultra fine chalky tannin, bright acidity and a long finish.

Hasn’t changed a whole lot in the last year. Still red fruit but getting a little more rose water and musk. Structure is still firm but friendly. It’s hard to talk about this wine without mentioning value.

Good intensity with cherry, mulberry liquorice and menthol. Rounded with very fine tannin. Medium acid and good length. Nice now but another year in bottle will make a big difference.

Sour, red and dark cherry, leather and a whiff of menthol. Earthy, terracotta tannins. The acidity carrying plenty of energy. Right in the zone now with a good mix of youth and age but will live many years yet. Great balance overall just lacking a little excitement for me.

Stone fruit, nutty, creamy, great intensity and length. Plenty of acidity to keep that creaminess in check. Balanced perfectly with nothing sticking out and plenty of interest.

Starts subtly and then expands throughout the whole mouth. Dips slightly and then continues through to a wonderfully long finish. Lovely black cherry fruit with rose water, black tea and tarry liquorice. Firm tannin and plenty of acid but approachable for anybody who doesn’t mind a bit of tannin. Benefits from a good decant. Excellent.

Just starting to lose some colour. Medium to full bodied. Right in the zone for age. Blackberry, red plum, cherry, old leather and soil. A milk chocolate creaminess to the texture. Oak is about as integrated as it’s going to get with malt and spice coming through.

This is the first of the 18’s that I have tried. Fairly reserved and nothing showy but lovely subtleties of mix berries, red and dark cherry and terracotta pot. Steely acidity and subtle tannin. Good length. Probably shows better with food but plenty to like on its own.

Hasn’t budged in the last year. It’s firm and serious but plenty of joy to be had if you are patient and give it some time to breath. Cherry, rose water, liquorice root and earth. The length builds with air time. Lovely.

Fragrant with dried strawberry, cherry, wilted roses and truffle. More dried strawberry and cherry on the palate with spice, damp soil and mulch. It’s earthy and savoury, with tannin fully integrated and a beautiful acid line. Probably around the peak of its maturity although I’m sure it will hold a few years more.

Black currant, blackberry, black and red cherry. Herbs and spice. A little eucalyptus. Nice grip of tannin and just over medium weight. The highlight here though is the balance. Nothing to fault. Lovely.

Ripe black fruits, cherry liqueur, fruitcake and ground coffee. The oak sticks out a bit with coconut and vanilla flavours a little too prominent for my tastes. The finish drops away a bit too but there is plenty of flavour around while it’s there.

100% Tempranillo from Rioja Alta and is aged in French oak. Sweet and tart cherry, cedar, leather, a bit of that cherry cola thing that Tempranillo does. The oak is subtle with hints of coconut, vanilla and spice. It's balanced and youthful but doesn't lack structure. It's got everything you could ask for in a low cost Rioja.

The nose is a little reserved at the moment but the same can't be said about the palate. It packs loads of lemon, lemon pith, melon, nuts and spice. But no flavour dominates over another, just perfect harmony that lingers and lingers.

Really shines with air and was at it's best on day 2. It didn't make it to day 3. Showing plum, blackberry, terracotta pot, white pepper and violets. Not much more than medium weight with silky tannin and beautifully balanced acidity. Structure seemed to build over time. Great length. Beautiful now but I have no doubt it will a stunner in 15.

Rich and intense ripe fruit, as expected. Black cherry, plum, cherry liqueur and licorice. There is a nice aromatic lift from a little whole bunch. Violet and a very faint eucalyptus. It’s big but it isn’t heavy. There is well balanced acidity giving it vibrancy. Some herbs and smoke on the finish. It’s very good if you like big wines.

1.5 - 2hr decant. It smelt dead initially but it eventually started to show it still had some life left in it. Dried plum, blackberry, and cherry. Decomposing flowers, old leather and scorched earth. It had become pretty and delicate. 2 words not often used to describe Priorat. Tannin and oak fully dissolved into the wine and the length was good. It did keep improving the longer it was open and in hindsight I should have decanted for much longer. But there is no denying its best days are well behind it now.

Super ripe black fruit. Plum, cherry liqueur and liquorice. There is a sweetness to the fruit that makes me wonder if there is any RS here. Plenty of flavour and it is balanced but it feels a bit too slick and over worked. It lacks charm.

Citrus and stone fruit. Has a flavour that reminds me of a lime ice cream spider. Melon and spice there too. Fresh and lively despite the obvious creamy characters.

Full of ripe black fruits. Black currant, blackberry, black cherry. A floral lift with wood spice, tobacco and faint menthol. At 9 years old it still tastes youthful but the tannin is softening with a balanced finish of decent length.

Cloudy to look at. Great florals, rose water, red frogs and raspberry. There’s a kind of fruit sweetness but there is also a slight bitterness that counters and balances it. Fennel and spice. Bright and youthful but also has fine sandy tannin giving some serious structure. This is what Aussie Grenache is all about.

Colour is losing its vibrancy and browning around the rim. Smells like tobacco, graphite, black currants, old leather and dried eucalyptus. Tannin is smooth and slightly powdery giving a soft but unmistakable grip. Great length. Acid maybe a little pokey but not enough to ruin the enjoyment. Tastes old world. Probably won’t gain much from further cellaring. But it’s beautiful now and I’d drink up over the next 5 years.

Maturity seems to have halted since the last bottle a couple of years ago. This one looks almost exactly like the last. Preserved lemon, wax, some toasty notes over pure lemon and lime. The acid has rounded out a little but there is still plenty there. There is a slight spritz when first opened but it disappears with air. I’d be confident with another 10 years on this but it’s already a beautiful wine.

Dark fruit. Plum, blackberry, some cacao, red and black liquorice. Tannin a little bit softer for a Wendouree but still enough of it there. More of a rounded mouthfeel. Give it air and red meat.

A blend of Semillon, Muscat and Riesling and spends a few days on skins. On lees for a year and then just juice for a year. Marmalade, ginger, preserved lemon and almond. A saline, dry white sherry like quality. A bit chalky in texture. Great intensity and length. Cracking wine.

Pretty serious Grenache here. Strawberry and blackberry with red and black liquorice. It’s a little peppery and a little meaty. Nice aromatics. Good intensity and tannin structure. It’s enjoyable now but do yourself and the wine a favour and let it settle for a couple of years.
