quite brown and advanced or this wine, but marvelous, complex, lots of botrytis...fully developed. not sure why this one bottle is so much darker, but remarkable in any case.
White - Sweet/Dessert
1971 Château Coutet Barsac Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (view label images)
seriously good, brownish, botrytis laden, infinitely complex - with epoisses
Red
2007 I Veroni Chianti Rùfina Sangiovese Blend, Sangiovese (view label images)
decent, well made Chianti. good pasta wine, good deep color, nice sangiovese dryness.
Red
1995 Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
this has finally come around and is now showing brilliantly. delicious, soft tannins, strong fruit, still pretty deep garnet color. it seems to me that a lot 0f 95s have been dormant for a long time, but this is an example of one that is coming around. No rush to drink, but it is now drinking well. i am not fond of numbers, but this si an A grade.

this was good, not great, probably drunk to young for complete development, but decent with grilled sirloin - relatively simple
White
decent....good value, but nothing wonderful, good smokiness yet a bit light.
Red
excellent wine in full....smoky, woodsy, nearer Bordeaux but still Cabernet. Delicious, good body, sweetish finish. still pretty dark in color.
Red
2010 Savignola Paolina Chianti Classico Chianti Classico DOCG Sangiovese Blend, Sangiovese (view label images)
in general I prefer light, fruity simple Chiantis....and this is just such a wine. Enjoyable with food, usually a form of pasta - last night, tomato, pepper and sausage. just tasty, still pretty fresh, not a keeper but apropos.
Red
decent, not over the top with fruit, oak etc. decent value also. fairly light in color and alcohol for the type; on the other hand nothing special. maybe a B-
Red
1988 Clos des Jacobins St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
this was spectacular; way above expectation. still darkish, great nose. cabernet franc to the fore. right at the apex i think. really lengthy finish. great velvety mouth feel, just a terrific wine.
Red
1989 Château Léoville Barton St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)

THis bottle was quite nice....not great but very good. The last 2 times I have tried this wine, it has been very good, and much better than previous instances. In a good place, but not for long term cellaring. Soft, velvety mouthfeel, woodsy on the nose and palate.
Red
2000 Château Calon-Ségur St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Delicious, with a long life in front of it. fruit and tannin in balance as wine shifts from primary to more mature flavors. Nice nose, strong finish. First bottle from a case; I am looking forward to the future with this.
Red
2000 Château Fougas Maldoror Côtes de Bourg Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
modern Bordeaux, probably going nowhere, plenty of fruit, wood and alcohol.
Red
1989 Château La Lagune Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
This is why I still like Bordeaux. Once it hits 20 or so the complexity out weighs whatever flaws may be inherent. I don't know what the ratings are or were, but now as it bricks over, it retains some fruit, no wood that I can decipher, but multiple secondary and tertiary flavors, a very smooth texture and a lingering, bot not hugely so, finish. Delicious, with Osso Buco.
White
very decent, crisp minerally, great value

this is very good, crisp and minerally almost like a white in a red cloak.

overripe and unpleasant. this wine is perhaps the worst Brunier wine i have ever tasted. should have been drunk by 2004 when i unfortunately had the first bottle out of my two cases.

1989 Château Grand Mayne St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
absolutely wonderful. when i think of how Parker may have negtively influenced Bordeaux winemaking , i want to remember that he strongly recommended this. i wish i had bought 10 cases instead of one. still going strong, in fact i wish i had decanted it as it significantly improved throughout dinner. everything that could be great in a st. emilion was there in spades. plenty of fruit left. but wonderful secondary and tertiary flavors.
