E&R's Prequal to 25: Nebbiolo: A surprise addition brought by an attendee, which wound up being one of the wines I was looking the most forward to...! That is until I smelled it :-( All funky stewed fruits made me quickly aware this was likely another bad bottle. Soft, dead dried leaves and stewed gummy bears on the palate. Bitter, dried up tannins on the finish.

Tasted next to the Giacomo Conterno Cascina Franscia from the same year, and surpassed it. Very dusty on the nose. Hint pf violets. Really fresh, hard to believe it’s a 1996.

Should have decanted/opened for more than an hour as needed to breathe but once it did, waves of strawberry, leather and rust notes. it’s tone is more bright than deep/dark. Medium weight.
