After enjoying this bottling in previous vintages, and then my last bottle ('10) being not too much to my liking (fake, candied fruit which may have just been youth), this was a nice bounce back. Ruby to garnet in color. Aromas of dark and dark red fruits (darker with air), fresh tilled soil, tar, smoke, and eucalyptus. Medium body and finish, medium(-) acidity, and red grenache fruit flavors that also shifted darker with air, along with black tea and tangerine. Worked well with casual burrito night. BTW, I found this drinking pretty well now, with no detracting tannins. I think it could hold a few years, but wouldn't say it's necessary.

A lush bouquet of black cherry, ripe strawberry, and florals identify the varietal as grenache. The wine itself is a pale ruby red. In the mouth, the wine is medium bodied, but a little on the thinner side, with tastes of black cherry and leather. The finish adds a black pepper note, but this is where some fierce tannins kick in. Yes, the wine has life left, but is not pleasant to drink at this point. Maybe some heavy decanting will help, but I held the last half of the bottle for a couple of days and that did help. I say HOLD for 5 years, or decant for a few hours.

One of my favorite Tres Picos. Boisterous aromas and flavors of black cherry and blackberries. Absolutely delicious. A hint of pepper and leather adds complexity.

needs a bit of air time and to warm up a bit from cellar temperature. The spice now is secondary to the cherry and raspberry fruit and the leather tones on the back end.

Straight ahead and excellent; a friendly, happy red; very nice to share during the opening phases of a communal dinner. Red berries, muted spices, a faint wisp of smoke. Not so much lively on the palate but rather comfortable.

Translucent ruby garnet. Strawberry field and brown sugar nose. Light to medium bodied, raspberries, bing cherries, leathery tannins, good acid, and a short to medium dry finish. Not real complex, but a great value under $12. Drink up.

Nice dark fruits, a little tannic on finish. Writer who said strawberry was correct but on slightly burnt toast late in finish. Tasty could wait another couple years

Wow what a value. From Campo de Borja, this is a full bodied Grenache that rivals wines from the Rhone valley. I recently read in Somelier magazine that this was their top bargain pick; they were right on the money.

The wine looks Garnet colored. It smells like Cedar, and Strawberry Jam. It tastes like Strawberry Jam, Light toast, and Black Pepper. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Juicy texture. The wine finishes Short.

The wine is a medium to dark ruby red color. The very inviting nose has raspberries, smoke, vanilla, baking spices, cherries, fresh ground espresso beans, white pepper, and some dried herbs. This has medium to full body, moderate tannins, and good acidity. On the palate the fruit and spice lead off with white pepper, dried herbs, and the coffee coming in later. The finish has nice length with a dark chocolate note joining the party. A very nice wine and an incredible value.

Medium body. Drank over 3 days and improved with the most on day 2. Low to Medium acidity but not overly fruity. Blackberry on the finish with a chewy cigar. Some initial light hints of creme and strawberry but that was gone by day 2. If it had a little more acidity like some other Grenache I have had, it would score higher.

Highly aromatic nose. Fruit forward, strawberries and cream, vanilla panacotta with cherry sauce and a lingering mineral touch. Good balance, acidity, alcohol, fruits, medium tannins on a medium to full bodied frame. Fantastic QPR. Close to been at prime.

Consistent with my tasting notes from 4/22/12. This wine is very much into its peak drinking window, which should last through mid-2014. A little tired on the second day, therefore I would not push it any further. Great QPR and a great expression of Grenache.

Dark ruby colour. Nose: blackcurrant, raspberry, smoke and pepper. Palate: black fruits, licorice, spice and smoke flavors. Medium/full bodied. Really a mouth of wine. Nice medium finish with a lot of smoke and a bit of wood.

Vibrant, powerful nose. Packed with strawberry, blackcurrant sand vanilla oak. Silky smooth with layers of rich juicy fruit; mulberry and blackcurrant. Great complexity in the mid palate with notes of leather and creamy chocolate. Finishes dry and fresh with nice roasted coffee tannins. Excellent. Great value too.

Mums

I had wanted to try this varietal and bought this as an example. From the start it didn't appeal to my palate at all, so please take that into consideration. This tastes like strawberry jam, much too fruit forward and cooked. I rarely like sweetness in wine and, while it is a dry wine it still has that cotton-candy overtone in abundance. Some people like these characteristics, so if that sounds good to you then you will most likely enjoy this wine.

Consumed over 2 days, note from day 2. Nose: Medium plus expressiveness, lavender, smoke, brush, ripe red fruit - raspberry and strawberry. Palate: Medium bodied, dark red fruit fruit attack - black raspberry, joined by smoky underbrush flavors in the mid-palate. Finish: Medium length dominated by raspberry and smoke.

Discovering Wine: The Tres Picos Granacha brings loads of rich earthiness to the nose, along with sandalwood, and faint floral notes. The deep ruby wine is layered and complex, very fruity with tastes of dark fruits. Soft and very smooth in the mouth, and nicely balanced. Finishes with dark fruits and a cola note.

PnP at an outdoor picnic. Much less fruit forward than it was a year ago, when the fruit was frankly silly and over-the-top - now jam, leather, spice nose, palate adds a lot of strawberry, blackberry, good tannins, but altogether much more harmonious. Suspect time in a decanter would have made it even stronger. Good QPR, worth saving for another 6 months or a year though to see what develops.

Stamford Book Club No. 3 - Spanish authors; 7/17/2012-7/18/2012 (Casa Vadel): Deep, dark ruby in color. Nose is very fruity - a little jammy - and oaky. The palate is clean and sharp, but still jammy with sweet red fruits that border on too much. There are hints of spice and other flavors, but I think they are overwhelmed. This is probably much better with food, but a decent wine on its own. (4+12+16+7)

This wine was a bit closed on the first day, and I didn't even bother sealing it with a vacu-vin thinking it was likely going to be dead the next day. Much to my surprise, this was in a perfect place on the second day, with great fruit and balance throughout. Definitely in a good spot right now.

Lækker og frisk ligefrem i smagen. Passer nærmest til alt. Jeg glemte dog igen at ilte med det resultat at der er animalske toner som jeg bestemt ikke bryder mig om. Bedst efter ½-1 time i glasset/flasken.

This wine appears dark purple in color, to go along with it's 14.5% abv. Notes of plums and blueberries soar from the glass, along with tar and leather notes, which are uncommon in a wine this affordable ($13). Flavors of dark fruits certainly take front and center stage, but there are nice tar/asphalt/licorice components that save the otherwise slightly hollow mid palate, leading into a tar and blueberry finish supported by nice acidity and supple tannins. I will buy a bunch more of this crazy good WFTM. House wine extraordinaire. Drink this vintage for another 3+ years.

Tres Picos has been one of our "house wines" for several years. It is an easy drinker that shows quite a bit of body for the cost. This vintage seemed a little less fruit forward, but quite good.

Go out and get yourself a bottle if you can find it. Or if this has been sitting on your shelf, celebrate something like Tuesday. Overwhelmingly generous on the nose and it continues to take over the room, let alone your palate with red and dark fruit. Friendly on its own and will get along with food as well. Easy to drink and in that flavor profile of cherry blackberry fleck of chocolate that makes it accessible and crowd pleasing. On the second day, the wine held together nicely and found a nice dark berry and plum groove with a decent finish of tar and leather and pepper.

Clear, ruby, medium plus in intensity. The nose is clean, medium plus in intensity, with jammy red fruit, alcohol, and a touch of stewed fruit. The nose is developing. The acidity is medium to medium plus. The alcohol is medium plus at 14.5%. The tannins are medium, the body and flavor intensity are medium plus and the finish is medium. The palate shows mostly red fruit (strawberries and plums) with a hint of black fruit and spice. It is drinkable now, but is still quite youthful. I think it will be better in a year or two. Good by itself but even better with food. This is a very well made wine which is consistently good from year to year and delivers well above its price point.

Medium to dark ruby red color. Smoke, raspberries, cherries, fresh ground coffee, baking spices, dark chocolate, fresh flowers, and a touch of vanilla. Medium to full body with ripe tannins and good acidity. Bright, jammy red fruit on the palate with nice spice and white pepper in the background. Nice length on the finish with the spicy fruit and a bit of oak. Very nice wine, especially for the price.

The color was dense and barely tranluscent red ruby. The smell was like a pinot noir. There was floral, plum, smoky, and earthy notes. The fruit also smelled of black berries and strawberry. The taste was cherries, strawberry, damp earth, with some light spicy notes like pepper and clove. The tannins were fine and ripe and and the finish was nice if not a bit short. I read the winemaker notes on the back label after making my tasting notes and was surprised at the many similar observations. This wine is especially wonderful on the nose and for the price, an excellent QPR. I'll take Granache like this anyday. I will say the only off putting thing about this was a bit of heat.

Very dense purplish ruby red. The nose is spicy and full throttle, full of kirsch and blackberry. A little less intense on the palate, the black fruit is ripe and powerful but there is a nice savoury note to the tannins keeping it in balance. Very nice.

Big, full, and a bit tart, with plenty of dark cherry fruit. Hints of red berries, and a medium finish. It tasted a little weird right after the rhone wine we had been drinking but once our palates adjusted we all liked it.

The Tres Picos Granacha is a medium bodied wine with a bright ruby hue. The nose has an expressive bouquet of black cherry, cedar and warm leather. Nicely soft and smooth in the mouth with tastes of black cherry, red raspberry carried on racy framework of razor sharp acidity. The finish has better than average length with black cherry, strawberry and more raspberry enveloped in the omni-present acidity. No doubt that this one with keep for quite a few years. While this will likely be very popular, the acidity is more than I prefer, especially with grenache. so oddly, I might recommend it to my friends, but not buy more for myself.

Simple red, translucent in color. Strong strawberry, green pepper, slate, and white pepper on the nose. The taste is not what I was expecting from a grenache. I was expecting this to be a little jammier and spicy. Instead, it was very smooth, somewhat sweet with nice tannins and light acid. Very easy to drink. Maybe I'm crazy, but it was almost Pinot-like at times. Mentioned earlier, but this appears to be one of those wines with which not many folks could fine something wrong. Excellent value at less than $13.
Update: Day 2: Just as great as yesterday, with a little more acid and spice. Happy to have purchased another couple bottles today.
Ruby color, nose of blackberries, very much grenache. Sweet blackberry, vanilla, a little oak, balance of fruit and acidity, not much in the way of tannins. This is a very good wine for everyday drinking, and for drinking now.

Very different than I expected, but in a good way. Translucent deep red. Rhubarb and plum nose. Vanilla/red fruit syrup with a little smoke, leather and more plums. A nice little pepper bite at the end. Bought correctly, these can be found under $15, which makes this a great QPR.

Drunk over two days. Ratings differ significantly, with day 2 being softer, rounder and altogether more enjoyable. With this amount of air, it can compete with some of the Ozzie basket pressed grenache.
Deep hue, nose redolent of barnyard, smooth on palate. Enjoyable as a stand alone (day 2)
day 1 - drink with food - otherwise a bit stifled

Still needs a little more time in bottle. Let breathe 1.5 hrs. Reticent earthy nose of red berries, herbs, vegetal & mineral notes. Dry, medium-bodied, initially a green, stemmy palate later opening up to red berry & spice flavors. Good amount of acidity, youthful tannins & clean, moderate finish. (87+)

This would be a perfect party wine. Hedonistic enough for the masses. Balanced and sophisticated enough for the wine snobs. Not the most complex wine and a bit of heat, but some nice ripe fruit, balancing acidity, still dry, a bit of american oak seemingly. Tough not to like, but clipped finish and heat detract.

I tasted this at about room temp after significant decanting. The wine is clear with a deep purple hue that is slightly ruby at the rim and significant legs. The Nose here is clear and developing with medium aroma intensity including a lot of red fruits like plums and cherries along with notes of vanilla, smoke, and sweet spices. The Palate is very dry with medium+ body, high alcohol that is a little too noticeable, and medium+ tannins, with medium acidity. The flavor intensity is about medium with notes of cherry, raspberry, and plum along with some smoked earth, leather, and sweet spice. Overall, this is a good, very approachable wine that is meant for food pairing and easy drinking. This should be had soon.

Very similar in style to the 2008 Tres Picos, perhaps a tad more concentrated. This is the premium cuvée of the Borsao estate (situated in the northwest of the province of Saragossa), made from 100 percent old Grenache. The wine was aged partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in French barriques (five months). Decanted: one hour prior to tasting. Dark cherry-red color with shades of purple and a very fragrant nose of black cherry, plum, pepper, leather and a fine touch of vanilla. The palate reveals a rich, sumptuous wine with gobs of spicy ripe black fruits, a round-velvety texture, well-balanced tannins and beautifully integrated oak. Warm, harmonious finish. Very approachable now, might even improve over the next 2-3 years.

I'm with Parker on this bottle....classic and delicious. Deep garnet=purple, aromas across the room of plums and berries that carry to the palate in a blast of flavor, beef up in mid-palate and trail off in a long and very pleasant finish. Got some well-balanced tannins, edgy rustic overtones and all-around complexity and interest. Can't believe it's a $13 bottle. Nearly perfect.

Christmas dinner and good wine with Kris Caldwell, Noelle Norton, and Dale Maxwell. (Caldwell residence, Lexington, SC.): One of our favorite wines, this one always delivers from vintage to vintage. A real crowd pleaser, this is a big, fruity, high alcohol wine that just barely avoids being flabby. Very dark color. Big floral nose with lots of other stuff, like cherry, smoke, blackberry, and pepper. The fruit profile leans toward the red fruit, but then blackberry takes over toward the finish. Modern, maybe even New World in style, there is a very nice touch with noticeable, but civilized oak. Ripe and silky tannins that tend toward dry on the very fruity, even grapey finish that lingers with blackberry, leather, and earth.

Polished, complex and an incredible value. Transparent dark ruby purple; great aromatics, with blackberries, raspberry syrup, spice and root beer notes; rich, pure black and purple fruit flavors and a savory leathery note, exploding through the midpalate with smooth tannins, and a long, layered finish, ending with leather, pepper, smoke and black cherries. A great sipper, and food-friendly besides, going equally well with pot roast and mashed potatoes one evening, and portobello mushroom ravioli in a marinara sauce the next.

Strawberry & blackberry fruit, big nose; lengthy tannins. Oakless. A bit tight on initial tasting after ten minutes of air. Opened up after thirty minutes and the end of the first glass. Probably worth a 90 but I lose my discretion after the first few swallows. Great bang for the buck. dcp

Dark ruby. Bouquet of cherry and black pepper, plus smoke. On the palate medium-bodied, "classic" Spanish Granacha with a hint of oak. Finishes with enough tannins to age gracefully for at least five years. But if it's Granacha you want to taste, spend a little more and bring home Chris Ringland's excellent Veraton or outstanding Alto Moncayo.

Fresh, mouth-watering, and mid-weight, with brightly-pitched notes of bing cherry, orange peel, and an undercurrent of red plum. There are some hints of blood orange, or perhaps red grapefruit, on the back palate, as well. Not as fine as some critics have made it out to be, but solid, enjoyable, versatile, and a good value. Grenache is coming up in the world as a single-varietal, especially in Spain, so give this (and others like it) a try. The Spanish economy needs your business!

A great medium-bodied Garnacha that really delivers in the quaffing stakes. On the nose this needs a bit of time to open up, but soon reveals raspberry, cherry and mocha with a smokey, oakey undercurrent. This is a really juicy and jammy wine with nice zesty acidity leading to a peppery dry but warming finish. Not the most complex of wines, but it will make you smile.

Good/very good – clear light to mid garnet appearance; red fruit on nose; off-dry to medium; low/mid acidity; mid to high tannins; medium body; mid length finish; red fruits – very fruity; well balanced; bit of a mouth drying finish; decanted 15 mins before drinking through a vinturi. Nice, but at this point this isn't to the level of the 2008. Has that Garnacha character, sweet floral nose with tarry, spicy, purple-to-black fruits carrying over to the palate. Could nearly pass as a Southern Rhone. However, it thins out from midpalate onward to a relatively bland finish. Probably needs six months to a year to come together. 87-88 at the moment.

Medium to dark ruby color. Raspberries, cherries, vanilla, baking spices, fresh ground coffee, dark chocolate, white pepper, with a touch of a floral note on the very nice nose. Medium to full body with ripe tannins and very nice acidity. Rich, spicy, jammy fruit on the palate with pepper coming in on the background, as well as a bit of earthiness. Nice length on the finish with the spicy notes riding over the red fruit. Very nice!

Very expressive nose. Spicy cherry and oak at first impression, full on the palate moving into a long peppery finish. This is Garnacha done right. Recommended.

Popped and vinturied into decanter, consumed over 3 hours. Nose: Medium plus expressiveness, mint, baking spices, brown sugar, vanilla, raspberry and cherry - very interesting. Palate: Nice acidity, medium bodied, bright red fruit up front, turns creamy towards the back end. Lengthy finish of spearmint and spicy red fruit.

Dark purple. Very ripe nose of cherry and blueberry and a litlle bit of coffee. Very nice mid wieght flavours, dry in the entry and finish. A bit of graphite nad a hint of mocha on th finish but bone dry.
A really nice wine to drink today. Ripe nose but mostly a dry finish. I like it a lot. Not for aging.

Good value wine at $15. Vanilla, plum, strawberries, some black cherry and spice on the nose. Not totally sure how folks rate this in the 90's but perhaps they prefer a bit more alcohol than I do -- this one says 14.5% on the bottle, but is close to 15%. Tannins are pretty strong upon opening -- recommend decanting and waiting 30-60 minutes prior to drinking (at which time they become almost non-existent).

Aroma of black cherry, with hints of black pepper and oak. The taste is definitely black cherry but trending towards darker fruit such as plum. Seems to have a hint of vanilla as well, which might sound strange, but it adds smoothness. Tannins are not really present, just a slight bit on the finish. I think this is a great wine to drink now and have at parties. It might be good for another couple years, but I see no reason to wait.

Great stuff. Very young and fruit forward. Lots of cherry and juicy fruitacid. You don't taste the oak, but only feel it in the slightly creamy finish. Wen't extremely well with Confit d' Canard

Nose: Smoke and blackberries, with hints of tree bark, leather, and tobacco. A bit cough-syrupy.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full-bodied. Quite a bit of sediment for such a young wine, so be careful when you pour.
Palate: Blackberry jam, oak, black pepper, and a hint of brown sugar. Firm tannins and nice acidity, but too jammy for me, and the finish is a bit hot.
A Garnacha that in many ways feels more like a Syrah. It has impressive concentration, is serious for the price, and will appeal to lovers of big, rich reds. I was just hoping for a bit more nuance, poise, and complexity. It's fine, but I can't understand where Parker and Tanzer found more than 90 points.

Popped and poured, consumed over 3 hours. Dusty dark fruits on the nose with an underlying layer of clove and roasted coffee. On the palate smoky black cherry, pepper, a little oak and more roasted coffee. Ample tannins round this out. Nicely balanced and good mouth feel.

Needed ½ to 1 hour of air (after popping the cork and pouring off a glass) for the fruit to blend with the tannin on the finish. Nice notes of black cherry, blackberry, vanilla and hints of licorice with air, leading to a nice bodied wine with a “chewy” tannin structure. Not as big of a wine as I was expecting…”only” 14.5%. It was nice without the American oak notes. A great QPR at $15, as I bought a few more bottles.

Pretty much pop and pour. A medium to dark ruby color. Vanilla, raspberries, cherries, earthy, white pepper, plums, tobacco, baking spices, and some fresh flowers on the nice and open nose. Medium to full body with fairly solid, ripe tannins and very nice acidity. Sweet, jammy fruit initially on the palate then the spices and pepper kick in adding depth. Nice backbone to support the big, bold flavors. Decent length on the spicy finish. This is very young but drinking nicely today and has the stuffing to improve with some cellar time.

Popped and poured. Nose: Black berry, plum, vanilla, and subtle scents of black pepper. Creamy mouth feel, sweet tannins, red fruit - raspberry and spice - white pepper. Finish: Medium plus length finish of nice ripe red fruit and peppery spice. Bought a 6-pack which sat on the porch in 95+ degree temperatures for 6 hours causing fairly severe seepage in all bottles, as a result didn't expect much - but this is the second bottle and both have been very enjoyable.

Cherry , plum, blueberry, bright tobacco, and a tinge of menthol on the nose that all show up on time for the party on the palate. Some grapefruit zest on the finish rounds things out and refreshes for the next sip. Great QPR and still like better than the '08.

Consumed over 2 days, note from day 2. Nose: Cherry, vanilla, smoke, and light florals. Palate: Medium bodied, sweet red fruit, hint of pepper, holds up well through the mid-palate and finishes with a zesty back-end. Medium length finish of spicy red fruit. A delicious easy drinking wine - very enjoyable.

Loaded with cherry syrup, medicinal, herbs, licorice, spice and vanilla. Creamy and rich. Just can't get past the medicinal notes.
Excited to try this after the big press it received and the pedigree of the past vintages. Turns out it was a let down, maybe actually the worst tres picos I had.

Been a while since we've opened one of these. Popped and poured. Had a glass before calling it a night. Dark purple color. Dusty dark nose with clove and black fruits. Tastewise there is a spicy white pepper, black cherry, caramel a hint of oak. Substantial tannins carry the wine from mid to finish. Not a fruit forward over-ripe Spanish delight; at this price-point it is in our wheelhouse.
Night two - the finish is a little shorter but I get more acid up front. Nice and balanced and a little bit of smokiness.

Semi-big, semi-concentrated savory fruit-forward wine. It's big up front with dried cherry/berry flavors followed by a faintly smoky-savory taste and a nice peppery finish. The wine has minmal tannins but is balanced and flavorful throughout. Awfully tasty - I'm still thinking about the middle and after tastes two days after trying it.

Good lord this is a mouthful of luscious, rich fruit.! On the nose sweet cherry, hint of mocha. Gorgeous bright red in the glass. Nicely structured, firm but pliant tannins. Stone fruit. Cherry dominates. With food, grilled butterflied, marinated pork chops with rosemary. Incredible! Drink now or within the next two years.

Lustrous cherry black. At the start, the nose was really smokey but it gave way to some burnt carmel later on. I got cherries on the palate with a bit of spiceyness.

I had my first bottle of this vintage and it definitely surprised me. It's much more in your face than the 2008 I think. Wow, the dense smoke on the nose is incredible. Bacon fat, ribs fresh from the smoker and pure berry on the palate. This is a solid, hedonistic effort that will not dissappoint. Despite the deep aromas and flavors it's Grenache so it's not a dark tart wine. There's no hard edges here. A perfect companion for Chicago's Bacon Fest. Bacon ice cream, bacon bread, bacon bacon, and some 2009 Tres Picos. Thankfully, I have a second bottle in my cellar. The local shop has a killer regular price on this so I'll be going back frequently.

Outstanding value wine. Purple-ruby color. Deep dark fruits, such as black cherry and blackberry. Some fine spice and a light french oak influence. Has some complexity even at this young age. On the palate, medium minus tannins, medium plus body and alcohol. Nice finish. Quite balanced. Ha a couple years in it. It is hard to imagine a more consistently solid $12 wine.

A deep purple appearance, pronounced aromas of fresh ripe blackberries stewed with allspice, clove and vanillla. On the palate, medium+ body, nicely balanced acidity and tannins and the spices - amazing, really coming through and evolving into more pungent spices of black pepper; cherries were also present. It lingered for a bit concluding with a med finish. Overall a great wine especially for the price. One of my favorite to enjoy during the week!

Nice taste of charred black fruit that you get up front followed by a lingering finish. The '08 is a bit softer right now compared to the '09. At half the price this really reminds me of Alto Moncayo's Veraton, in a good way.

Garnet color. Nose: blackberry/cherry pie, new leather, mocha, some vanilla, and anise. Medium/fuller body on the palate: gobs of rich, juicy boysenberry and black cherry fruit accented by leather, licorice, black tea, peppercorn, and mocha latte. Nice balancing acidity cutting through. Moderate/lighter tannins. Lingering mocha, crushed rock, sage, and black tea on the long finish. Unapologetic, slutty Garnacha that still shows some balance and class. Best Tres Picos yet. Superb.

Moving on to the '09s after having really enjoyed the '07s and '08s for nice table wine. Dusty dark fruits on the nose with hints of the clove we loved on the previous vintages. On the palate bright dark fruits, smokiness, black pepper with significant tannins bringing up the rear. Might have to do a mini vertical of this. First blush and I'm not as wowed as in the past. Will see how I feel over the next year.

Excellent QPR - had with grilled burgers - very drinkable with some smoke, herbs & raspberry on the nose. On palate, medium body, acids & finish. Red fruits dominate the palate but some smoke & herbal overtones on the palate as well. Very good with food and for $13.00 killer value. Would buy again. 89-90 range. I preferred this to the '08 (which was a very nice wine). Was better when served a little cooler (near cellar temperature). Note to self - buy more and use as a house red.

Big heat with smoke and bacon on nose. Initial taste consists of big fruit (plums) followed by lots of tannins resulting in an insanely dry and astringent finish. Needs more time in bottle to settle down but seemed more civilized after decanting for 1 hr. 86-87. Will revisit soon.

A very smoky nose, buttressed with black pepper. The dark fruit follows and the candied blueberry and flowers rounds out all the aromas. The palate was more fruit driven, with cherry and blueberry standing out. The smoke and pepper was strong on the mid-palate, and the floral notes on the finish was nice.

Det er en lækker vin og jeg gemmer de sidste flakser for at se hvordan den udvikler sig.

I liked this quite a bit for the price, but Karen was not as enthused as I was. The red fruits are vibrant, and the lack of oak treatment is nice. There is a bit of earthiness on the finish that K didn't love, but overall this is very nice for the price. Good QPR.

Color: Deep, glass-coating reddish-purple.
