  • Wow, fantastic. Pure bramble and wild growth. Lots of animalistic sous bois. Dried red and plum fruit, lots of carignane spice and an undertone of truffle. Still has formidable structure and acidity, wonderful mineral spine too. Retains that vanilla kiss of Draper American oak as well.

Finishes with a hit of umami soy sauce and citrus. Long, long finish, so pure. Absolutely delicious. Obviously tertiary, but still so much power, energy and youth. Not even close to the end of its life, or even the end of development. Perhaps I’m being a little less than sensible here, but this wine hits all of my buttons.

  • Soft and lush, but still strong dark fruit, tobacco, sweet oak. Fully mature, not getting any better at this point. Very nice, lovely friendly wine. Better at a cooler temp. (0607 or 0528?)

  • Pulled later in the evening when PM and AH join us. No real notes, but they like it and the rest of the crowd enjoyed it. “A shadow of sediment coats the bottle. 14.9% alc. With (chicken) coq au vin and the friendship of the NCS and DS et uxes and KF. Recommended, but leaning toward Highly Recommended.

  • From memory. Stood up for several days and decanted off sediment for 1h then back into bottle. Open on the nose and palate from the very first pour. Dark cherries, ripe blackberries, mix of ripe and unripe plums, brambles, baking spices that are more up front followed by leather and earth. Nice acids with an elegant texture but still with some weight and power. The wine was in beautiful state of transition where the wine is becoming more claret-like in body and flavors but it still retained the fruit and some of the power of zinfandel. Fascinating. Wish I had more to follow its evolution. 92+
