This example of the 53 Lynch was intact and enjoyable, if not as articulate or classic as the last example. This bottle showed a nice combination of cherry (red more than black though certainly both) with loamy and mineral notes, but it’s a bit smudged and missing the top register.

A high toned and slightly volatile redcurrant nose leads, with prominent eucalyptus, mint, and cedar. Relatively lithe on the palate, really accentuating the exotic wood character with a touch of shishito. Reasonably penetrating acidity. Certainly elegant in the 53 mould, but is this starting to crack up?

Austin 3-star food + wine; 1/30/2022-1/31/2022 (Our residence, Austin, TX): The amount of fruit remaining pleasantly surprised me. I don't think this will improve further, but this still tastes great after almost 70 years. From magnum.

Epic Bordeaux for an Epic Birthday!; 9/1/2021-9/12/2021 (Paris & Bordeaux): First wine where the fruits are there even if there are a bit dark and slightly stewed. Another strong shower in the early times although I think it hurt being right next to the ‘55 which was just a revelation for me.

My 4th 1952 tasting & dinner (1992, 2016, 2017 and 2019) (Michelin starred restaurant Cheval Blanc Heemstede, The Netherlands): A lovely colour with ripeness; the acidity in the front is very nice and there is real Pauillac power in the midtaste, but I missed some characteristics in the bouquet. There is a starting over-ripeness in the finish, but overall a very good wine.
