En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Two (Bordeaux): Initially upon pouring a bit of damp earth/underground cellar but this blows off to show sous bois, umami, mushrooms, brambles, black fruits leather, earth. Surprisingly, on the palate, it's initially sweetly fruited, brambles then all of the tertiary notes present themselves, grippy tannins are still drying and slight coarse. Flavours persist. Splendid

A beautiful well aged St. Julien. (A bit dark aromas lead me to Pauillac). Developed aromas with graphite, leather and barnyard. Polished and light weighted on the palate. Lacks some concentration though, and is maybe on decline.

(Château Léoville Poyferré) Bricking dark red violet color; tobacco, tart red currant, light herb, coffee nose; polished, elegant, silky textured, ripe currant, tart cherry palate with fine tannins; medium-plus finish

Definitely past it prime, but still quite enjoyable!

A rich and fruity but funky wine. The 85 seemed a little more vegetal and animal compared to the other wines from this decade.

Still a bit life left but kind of weird nose. Drink now or 5-10 years ago…
