  • Deep lemon color. Great purity of fruit on the nose, with ripe lemon, stone fruit and pear. The intensity of the nose manifests also on the palate, with the addition of a strong mineral core and acidity. Great definition in the mouth, precise and full, ending in a very long finish.

  • 1 of 3 (mag) paired with a magnum of 2013 Lafon Perrieres.. a wonderful opportunity to have these two side by side. Both showed beautifully each expressing their own terroir, the Charmes was rich and round with great fruit and intensity, the Perrieres took an hour in the glass to fully open and show its bright compelling minerality. Both wines showed that extra silky texture I often find in this format A treat for sure

  • Dinner with Wayne at Kevin's. Local Twin Cities beloved Chef Don Saunders killed it for our crew at Kevin's place. 11 of us were treated to a night with Kevin's spry 91yr old dad who delighted everyone! Wayne Loves Cabernet & BDX so we had some potentially monumental reds to compliment a great night while 30 below MN temps whipped at the door. Thanks Kevin! WB,KB,VB,CV,DD,JV,BB,ML,LI,CS & SS

Kevin's btl tonight & maybe my co-wine of the night since my other was a 100pt Pomerol. This blew me away from my first whiff in the glass where it became obvious this was going to rock & call for several encores from the band! Perhaps the subtlety of my '08 Dauvissat Preuses only served to set the table for this wine! The nose was like standing next to a miner drilling limestone and catching the residual in my glass. So much lovely dry extract but no sot much that it buried pretty layers of citrus, topical & stone fruit nuances. The balance here was exquisite! So weightless & ethereal yet intense without a scratch or pin prick of acidic pain. I will long remember this btl and hope I come accross a blt that mere mortals like myself can afford to pay-up for. Tonight's btl may eclipse the first Montrachet I ever had. In that sense, its almost a "steal". Loved it, thanks Kevin! 99+

  • Dinner with Dad: Aged Napa, Bordeaux & Don Saunders (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Pale gold color. Drank a glass over an hour plus. Holy cow, this was explosive from the first whiff. Flint and dried stones reverberate across the nose, with immense notes of bright lemon, lemongrass, and fennel. The palate shows stunning minerality, penetrating, crisp acids, stones upon stone, flint, brisk lemon and Anjou pear on the tense, pure, lingering finish. WOW! This was amazing. Love Lafon. May be my WOTN with some very stiff competition.

  • Acker JK 51st birthday in NYC. Very nutty nose with a dash of exotic yellow fruits, one can immediately tells this is going to be complex and powerful. There is excellent concentration of yellow fruits flavors, very good depth and amazing texture, almost oily and thick, yet the wine richness is offset by good freshness. This is a powerful Charmes in a warm vintage, and now in its drinking window. Excellent.
