Chalky after texture from the nice soft but full tannins. Beautiful ruby color Opened up beautifully after about 20 minutes Delicious with the acids from a citrus salad Fruits are more crushed in nature After an hour, the fruit starts to shine through with the tannins taking a needed backseat Fantastic with food, sausage

Visit to Domaine Faiveley (Nuits St George, Burgundy, France): Medium(+) dark, touch of purple. Strawberry jam, especially when first opened; strawberry. Cranberry. Red and black plum? Rosehip. Stemmy. Still quite firm and stoney, under the riper jammy character. Initial jamminess disappears with air. Smoke, cedar, sweet spice -- cinnamon, vanilla. Lovely now(!!), but will be great in 10+ years time. €205.

Grandes Maisons Grands Crus - Grands Jours de Bourgogne 2024 (Santenay): Very earthy aromas, on the monolithic side, not as much complexity as in the Mazis next to it. Give it cellar time till 2030 at least.

Wednesday Cellar Visits in Burgundy - Louis Jadot, Faiveley, and Bernard Moreau (Cote d'Or): Barrel tasting at the domaine from a single new oak barrel. More red vs black cherry here with subtle meat and savory spice. Good structural spine that keeps this going towards its long finish, while never dominant. Very good balance, good+ potential for its level.
