The vintage of the century!!!! Yes I know we have already told you this several times but this time it is the real truthful truth! Who are we kidding again? It was very hot but it was very cold, it was very dry but it rained a lot, the grapes are very ripe but with acidity...
And Darwin said that man and mammoth sperm were adapting to climate change, why not grapes? Primeur wines are all more beautiful than each other, it's true! But that is not enough to make an exceptional vintage. One dimension is missing, the lifespan of the wine. And frankly, let's be honest, who can foresee today, that such a climatically contrasting vintage will not be syrup or vinegar in 20 or 30 years when the 2016, 2018,19,20 will begin their peak?

  • Picture walking into a flower show with a basket of fresh berries and a lit Cuban cigar, and while that is not quite PC, it is the aromatic profile here. On the palate, the wine is fresh, bright, vibrant, lifted and floral. The wine is elevated, refined, soft, and silky with a refreshing, silky edge to the fruits in the finish. The wine is pure elegance There is nothing between you and the fruits. There is intensity, length, and a striking sense of purity. The wine lingers seamlessly for 60 seconds, or longer. The wine blends 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc. 14.45% ABV, 3.83 pH. Harvesting took place August 29 - September 15. Yields were 35 hectoliters per hectare, with 50% of the harvest placed into the Grand Vin. This is not only in competition for wine of the vintage, it is one of the best vintages of Haut Brion ever produced. If you are an Haut-Brion fan with the disposable income, you cannot own enough of this future legend. Drink from 2030-2065. 98-100 Pts.

  • 99 vvPunkte / (53.6% Merlot, 35.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, pH 3.8, 14.4%). • En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Seven (Bordeaux): Plums, sweet spice, a little slightly herbaceous underpin, touches of red berries, polished oak, unlike the La Mission this feels contained and controlled. Medium plus intensity acidity is super juicy but, unlike the La Chapelle, doesn't seem to lend freshness., there is some alcohol warmth, a little muted plummy fruit, polished and persistent oaky tannins that prove quite smoothly textured but, on this tasting, there is a sense of being disjointed, a slightly meaty note joins on the finish, Hmm.
