I so wanted to be blown away by this wine, but alas, it was past its prime. Neither the nose nor the palette lived up to other vintage Tempiers I've had, most especially the 98 and 01 la Tourtines. Still worth trying!

Very dark, a vintage port-like color. Stimulating nose of leather, cigar box, strawberry and raspberry, wet wool, peppercorn, New Guinea coffee, garrigue. Very smooth mouth feel and persistent low tannin. Complex flavors echo the nose, especially in the usual cloaking of mourvedre's fruitniness among so much of its woodiness. A delight. Bottle #2 of two.
