2006-2008 Nebbiolo Tasting (Bologna): Served double blind. Garnet and cloudy in the glass. Nose is too dusty and mouth very oxidize. It would have been a very interesting comparison with the 2008 Monprivato.

Garnet in color, with nose of dried flowers, cherries. Palate is amazing, with great acidity, chalky tannins. Palate is amazing, medium acidity and chalky tannins after 4 hours decant. Cherries, violets, tar, dried flowers; long finish with oaky notes. An incredible wine that is still young but so incredibly enjoyable. A stunner. Drink now with a lot of air or wait 5-6 years. Excellent.

A stunner, deep and powerful but mid weight hiding its heft. Plenty of tannins but showing youthful fruit. So floral. What we’re here for. No crime to drink now but better in 5+ years.

Très bon mais un peu serré. Fruits rouges, acidité assez marquée, vin plutôt strict. Peut-être dans une phase transitoire car les bouteilles précédentes m'avaient plus emballé.

La Festa del Barolo: Rare Wine Dinner - Bartolo Mascarello (Legacy Records): From a magnum. This wine really surprised me. It’s just straight up beautiful. One of my favorites of the whole tasting less because it’s truly ready right now, but instead because of what the potential is. Dark black fruits, a kindof deep sweetness like very ripe berries, very pretty and just this great elegance and lightness and yet there’s so much flavor packed behind it all. A very enjoyable wine.
