This is showing mature for certain. Lemon pie, chiffon and hints of minerals. More jazzy on the palate where the acidity is fairly powerful. Lean and clean with lovely freshness. WHat is lacks in complexity it makes up for in class. The fruit loses a good deal of punch overnight. In its zone.

Excellent - classic Chablis flavors, 1er Cru depth and body, additional complexity from maturity. I wouldn't say this is near the 'edge' and wouldn't make haste to drink up. But it's definitely not too early to enjoy the wine as a mature Chablis. Second-to-last 750, two magnums still to look forward to down the road.

This bottle is drinking great, 1er cru Chablis with lovely development, showing depth, nuance, complexity, framed up in classic Chablis Chardonnay tang and tingle. A really nice bottle, my heart goes out to Eric.
Will this wine continue to develop? The last glass, from a bottle left uncorked in the refrigerator overnight, was still excellent, so, perhaps. But it's so good now, I don't see much reason to gamble on improvement from here. A rare occasion in which the CT time range seems to be pretty on the ball.

Yellow with greenish tint. Classic lemon plus sea shore aromas. Light to medium weight. Brisk, fresh, and mineral. A great contrast to (and relief after) a ponderous, oxidized Dauvissat Clos. Sadly, my last bottle of this wine which has performed magnificently throughout its lifespan.

What a gorgeous wine, and luckily in pristine condition. Intoxicating aromas of flowers, lemon, lemon oil, and the prominent smell of stones/crushed rocks in a very pleasant way, with a surface texture that was incredibly smooth and had some butter like characteristics and texture. Incredibly elegant at 11 years, I feel this could go on several more years maybe even up to 20 and it will taste amazing. Quite solid with grilled lobster and some sashimi. Not a super exact pairing with sushi, but does not clash at all. Aged Chablis rocks!!!

Dull medium greenish yellow. Lemon drop and broth aromas. Medium weight, glycerine followed by soil feel. Lovely sugar/fruit balance with a strong core of acidity. This has been outstanding every time and is showing no signs of fatigue at age 11. To top it all off, like many Louis Michel Premier Cru wines, it was a steal at the time release. Bravo!
More floral, but otherwise just as sound after being refrigerated overnight.

Michel is producing extremely good wines, just a small step behind the "canons" of the region. At ten years of age, this MdT has reached perfect maturity. Still light straw in color with a bleak, green hue at the rim. Expressive nose of green apples, lemon, chalk and oysters/sea salt. Medium bodied attack, fine acidity, smooth fruit on the midpalate dominated by apples, lemon and lime. Minerals marks their presence on the finish and aftertaste, it is almost like being at sea a cool autumn afternoon - salt, chalk, shellfish. Medium length. This is damn good although it cannot keep up with the very best from the fantastic '10 vintage. Drink now, but no hurry.
In appearance , light gold, the pronounced aroma displays flinty chalk, briny seaspray, and more complex ethereal wafts of intense white flowers, Mandarin orange, tarte au citron , and honied fruit like quince or candied pineapple. Full-bodied, the acidity is still medium-plus , with flavours of salty Granny Smith apples and preserved lemon, which lead into a long ,dry mineral finish. Deliciously mature and satisfying now - drink up over the next 2-3 years.

Light yellow and a glint of green-this could be from a much more recent vintage by color alone. Bracing seashore, floral, and citrus aromas. Light to medium weight, pure bitter citrus, saline, and fantastic acidity with a residue of stone persisting after you swallow. Fresh, crystalline clarity, and altogether superb Chablis at age 10.

Lively, flowery, delicate lemon peel nose, with a hint of sulphur. Delicious, lemony-mineral savour is very clean, sharp, and flowery; extremely youthful. Needs 3+ years.
After a superb bottle in September 2017, this one was equally fine and slightly more evolved, though still quite young. Consistently Michel's best Premier Cru, and also consistently better than most of his Grands Crus. Next time around will be a shootout with Billaud-Simon's similarly unoaked 2010 M de T. Should be one fine horse race (shamelessly mixing metaphors).

Similar to the TN from 3 weeks ago. Actually, it's the 1/3 left, kept in the fridge until now. Surprisingly, the wine has not faded a bit since then, profile still it's all about lime. Furthermore, saline notes stand out now and the acidity I was missing earlier it's all over the place, giving a mouth coating, savory and energetic taste. Next time should give it much more air.

Visually, still youthful with a light straw color with green notes. Starts with tropical fruit, mostly pineapple, turning to lime, citrus fruit. Palate is quite gliceric, all with lime fruit, some honey at the end. Medium bodied, good structure and perhaps not enough acidity, at least compared to the 2008 at same age, which at this point, I prefer over this one. 90-91

This has reached a wonderful platform of maturity now. Medium gold colour. Intriguing nose dominated by ripe lime, green apples, chalk and a wonderful shade of honey. Medium bodied, good acidity, wonderful concentration and length. Lime, apples and honey on the long finish. This is a wine that really has "fleshed out" over a couple of years. Will kept well, but I don´t believe it will get any better.

Still straw coloured with hints of green. The nose, however, shows clear hints of age: mushrooms and sherry, but also with fresh aromas of green apples. Medium bodied, nice fruity sweetness in the mouth, hints of spices in the finish (ginger, cardemom). Long and fresh, but lacks the vivid tones in a younger Chablis from this producer. Good, but a bit too old.

Straw coloured with still hints of green. Brilliant. Has lost most of its primary fruit, but there is still hints of green apples and citrus. This bottle is more mineral than I remember previous ones; chalk and oysters emerge after a while in the glass. Medium bodied, still bristling with acidity, appealing tones of green apples and lime, almost tannins on the finish. Aftertaste with sea minerals and oysters. A complex wine at the top now, but with many years ahead. Lacks some power and complexity, but a very fine wine. Drunk to one of the semi finals in the Eurovision Song Contest (sorry for that).

This surprised me, on the positive side. I've found some of Michel's wines too straightforward to be exciting. Well, this was. Intense aromas of citrus, lime and sea, with some flinty tones. Medium bodied, but cuts razor sharp through the mouth into a lingering aftertaste dominated by citrus and oyster/seashell/seaweed. Drunk with fresh shrimps. A delight, and as good as Montee de Tonnere gets.

Classic Chablis at its prime age. Aromas of oysters, chalk and a touch of honey. Medium bodied, Nice acidity, good concentration ending in a fresh aftertaste With citrusy tones over the classic sea/chalk aromas. Elegant style, perhaps a bit short on the finish. Still, a beautiful wine With fresh shrimps.

Greek Rabbit Stew and Brunello's (Leo's Place, Mpls, MN): Light green gold color. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Wow, have I mentioned how much i love this wine. Another stellar performance. This, like so many '10's has so much going for it. The fruit is wonderful, peach, tangerine, a bit tropical, great texture, giving more depth and a body, a little sourness on the back end with crisp acidity, brisk minerals, and some citrus zest that finishes very strong and long. Just delicious. 93+ to 94pts.

I agree with Dr. Wine 2001 and Rocknroller that this is classic Chablis that is still haunting me 2 weeks later and I foolishly picked up just one bottle for $41CN and can't get anymore. This may be the best Chablis, the purest I have ever had. Paired incredibly with Tilapia Meunier but I could have drank all alone just as easily and smelled it's beautiful aromas all night.

Pale. Lime, flowers, and iodine on the nose. Light, crisp acidity, herbs and quinine, incredible stony finish. This is an extremely youthful, outstanding, uncompromising Chablis that seems more a product of the soil than the grape. Sadly, this style is rapidly becoming extinct. The contrast between this and the 2005 Raveneau Montée de Tonnerre tasted last night was striking; this was pure, unadulterated Chablis whereas the Raveneau was all ripe vintage plus winemaking signature.

A Mixed Bag of Frenchies and Italians (Heirloom, St.Paul, MN): light green gold color. Drank 1+ glass over an hour. This absolutely blew me away tonight. By far the best bottle I've had to date. This was my WOTN overall too. I loved the nose, loved the palate, it was firing on all cylinders. I thought the nose was simple intoxicating with the tangerine, orange blossom, lemon, wet stone minerality, and grapefruit edginess. The palate had incredible vibrancy, man I love 2010 Chablis, powdery fruit that hits the palate with intensity but still has this focused well delineated minerality that adds to the generous cut present. Very long finish, steely. wow, I loved this.

LBTG - with Alan hosting: Young. Rich layers of vanilla and white flowers. Ripe mid with citrus (grapefruit and lemon) as well as some more tropical notes (pineapple?) broad mid with fruit and minerals balanced by the acidity. finish has a touch of spice and salt. YUM. needs some time IMO.

Opens quickly to an expressive nose and palate of clear and white fruits, unsweetened pineapple then veering towards white grapefruit and light apple, with good acidity and nice energy. The palate settles down with air. Mellower on the second night, still good clarity though. Another Louis Michel Chablis that has impressive attributes: no oak, good clarity, good energy . . . but still, drink now to mid term.

Last Minute Dinner (Craftsman, Mpls): Light gold color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 90 minutes. This was quite bright on the nose, showing some flashy white peach and ripe melon that gives way to the more classic citrus, zest aromas that build with the requisite minerality. The palate is lively, with good acidity, green tree fruit, pear, and Jonagold apple that also has plenty of lemon and line with some citrus peel as well, sea shore mineral, and crisp refreshing finish that lingers. Thiis in a very good place and should evolve and at the very least hold for 5-10 years plus.

This is my last 10 MdT and the best of 3 I bought, by far. Opened yesterday, finishing to night, there is nothing flat or muted in this bottle. While it does have a touch of pineapple, it also has countering lemon and grapefruit. The texture is honeyed, with round edges to it, reminding me actually a lot like Copain Brosseau chardonnay, with the glossier texture of yellow apple and lemon rind. The wine finishes with a spicy, savory marine influence in the finish. This way better than the previous two bottles and a real good drink, showing a richer tone and feeling more like CA than Chablis. Drinking fine now and seems to have good stuffing, no signs of any discoloring or oxidation.

Evolving glacially. You sense this won't really hit its stride for another 5-10 years, but it's got plenty of taut, limey, mineral-laden, seashore-smelling goodness in it already. Maybe lacks the depth of the big hitters in Chablis from this vineyard, but this is a stellar QPR.

About five months since my last note on this; light yellow in the glass, with a light "seashore" nuance.
Crisp and bracing on the palate, with nice persistence on the finish. That said, a little underwhelming for what I usually expect from a Montee de Tonnerre. I have a couple friends that extol the virtues of Michel, but for whatever reason this winemaker has yet to really grab me.

The last time I had one of these was from mag, a bottle I opened from my cellar back during Falltacular a few months ago. I remember that bottle and it didn't wow me, although I'll admit that was after a day of entertaining and questionable palate I may have used! The bottle in focus here I opened last night, left it in the fridge to stay cold. Drinking now, what I enjoy about this wine is the marine-like aromatic, bit of that sea air thing. What I find boring is the palate, as it just falls off, it's kind of dead. Yes, there is some nuance of sea shell, lemon rind and honey, but all of it is a bit muted and there is IMO a lack of cut in this vintage of MdT. In contrast, a 2010 Michel Forets I had a few weeks back was quite the contrary and I only wish I would have doubled down on those, leaving this MdT for someone else. Bad wine? No, not bad but just lacking the complexity and energy of that Forets, and some of the better 1er Chablis I have enjoyed in the past year. I have two of these MdT left, will drink them over the next year or two.
Light yellow-gold in the glass. Nice hint of brininess on the nose, always mandatory (IMO) for a good Chablis nose. Granny Smith apple as well.
A little "flat" on the palate - I am trying this without food and immediately after a nice rose', but I guess it's fair to speculate anytime you try a muted white Burg, is it potentially a precursor to pre-mox? We'll see if it opens up at all (just popped & poured), and I'll report back if my initial reaction to the wine proves to be unduly harsh.

July 4th Wines (My Place): A fine MdT. Beautiful fruit that was cool and edgy. Great flinty notes with lush lemons and limes. Great balance, and blew the Dauvissat Vaillons out of the water!
A medium toned, polished, yellow with a little green tinge. On the nose, a lovely mix of bright fruits, ocean spray, and on the palate, a racy and impressive chalky above average fruit complex rewarded with a good length of acidity. Got better as it got down the bottle.

Champagne & White Burgs at Meritage (Meritage, St. Paul): Pale green color. PNP, drank 1 glass over 60 minutes. The nose is pretty, loaded with mineral, citrus, lime, grapefruit. The palate is pretty wound up right now, but drinks well for its youth. Elegant on the palate with focused minerality, medium bodied with lime zest, grapefruit, tart. Medium plus finish. This should integrate well with another couple years.

Tightly coiled but showing great promise. Powerful minerality, fresh-grated lime zest, and white flowers. Still a bit steely in its youth but this has the depth and acidity to last. Wonderful with scallops, of course. Superb Chablis.

Honey, lime, flowers, stone, oily. Fair bit o acid, gives IT a bit of a sting. Could develop a couple of more years in the cellar.

Popped and poured. Liked it, but not to the degree of positive reviews it has received on CT. Good for the price (bought on discount).

The best and most fully realized of three great white Burgs tonight. Definitely the best Louis Michel I've ever had. Based on past btls I usually pass on offers for this producer and still will but I enjoyed tonight's btl.

Yellow-gold in the glass; pleasant sea-scented nose.
Tart on the palate, light-bodied, but otherwise undistinguished. Better on the nose.
I see a lot of positive commentary about Michel, but have to admit that I have yet to try one that really "rang the bell".

This wine had some full golden fruit that stood up to the acid and minerality. Good balance.

Very similar as my previous note, only the steely qualities I'd noted had softened up. Just a beautiful Chablis and stellar QPR.
