Pale straw colour in the glass. Medium bubbles and mild brittle mousse on the pour. Nose of green apples and some tasting brioche and yeast notes. Lovely freshness in the glass and taste of white peach, yeast, brioche and toast with a creamy finish. 6g/l dosage. 100% chardonnay. Disgorged 02/2021. Excellent!

Enjoyed with a group of wine snobs but probably not best served with non wine drinkers. Very crisp, moderate effervescence, savory. Some white peach, bit of a apple, and what stood out was white pepper and mango skin (is that a thing??). This seems like it should be paired with food.

Pale gold in color with a very fine & steady perlage. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of citrus notes of lemons/limes & baked apple & a bit of orange peel, with overtones of floral & yeasty/toasty notes, minerals, stony & a hint of roasted hazelnuts. Light bodied with a good concentration of well balanced, smooth textured, crisp & zesty, ripe fruit flavors of apples, citrus notes of lemons/limes with yeasty/toasty, stony & minerals. Lingering dry finish. Drinks quite well at present but should hold for a few more years

I notice that right now Fourny aren't offering a Brut Blanc de Blanc, just an Extra Brut. Presumably they changed at some point. https://kermitlynch.com/our-wines/veuve-fourny/ https://www.champagne-veuve-fourny.com/en/cuvee/blanc-de-blancs/
Light gold color. Drank 2 glasses over an hour from 375ml. I was totally digging this tonight. Really brisk on the nose, green apple, yeast, butterbrickle, a little herbal. The palate shows apple and white citrus, very crisp, light toast, taut with great energy. Loved it. 92+ to 93pts.

Pale gold color. From 375ml, drank 2 glasses over an hour. Had this at lunch picnic along the St. Louis River today. This was rather austere and dry, very mineral driven, white citrus, green apple, chalk, yeast.

Dinner at Summer Pavilion (Summer Pavilion, Ritz Carlton, Singapore): A simple, but yummy champagne to start the night. The nose had a touch of yeast and some toasted bread alongside side fleshy ripe apple notes. The palate was soft and fleshy, but with a nice freshness and elegant mousse to it, opening up in stylish notes of ripe red apples and white peach, leading into a neat, if rather shortish finish just touched with a little bit of mineral. Simple, a touch on the light side, but very enjoyable.

Classic Fourny in every way: nutmeg, coconut, brioche, tangerine, and apple. An ample and happy mousse bound in a tight, concentrated bead. A touch of biscuit on the nose and finish. Maybe a tad lean for a blanc de blanc, but satisfying nonetheless. With the remaining 16 Rappahannock oysters hauled in for Mother’s Day that we then shucked, topped with compound butters and then grilled. Recommended.

This is the tan label for this wine, a label I had not seen before and apparently a more recent bottling of this wine. But it’s classic Fourny all the way. Nose of nutmeg, and bread, tangerine, and apple with is usual happy mousse in a tight, concentrated bead. Without any food really. We used this as a wine to help us begin the Thanksgiving celebration as we prepared courses and set the table. Recommended.

Rich and toasty and smells like Pinot Noir but is instead Chardonnay aged in wood. It is supposed to have an imprint of wood and it does. Thats the "pinot" smell I am getting. Clean on the palate with depth, long finish. $50 works it out, wish it was cheaper. Pretty ripe chardonnay I am being told.

Touch of chalk with a subtle green note that's distracting; otherwise, classic white flowers and lemon peel, low fruit, light, elegant, but a bit thin and austere. Blend of '15, '14, '13, '12. The BdB Brut Nature was far better. At the estate with Charles Fourny.

Absolutely incredible if you like BdB. The right amount of dosage, sweet but still within the boundaries of being acceptable as brut. Incredible bubbles, clean and crisp. I would stock up on this, I think there is loads of potential for secondary flavors if cellared.

Degorged in February 2019 so its perhaps too early to judge. Had a nice crispy attack and a saline, very dry finish. Good champagne that my deepen in terms of complexity and softer attack with some cellar time.

Sunday BBQ (Chicago, IL): Solid champagne, with citrus-inflected elements. Plenty of acidity, there will be no confusion that this is a blanc de blancs with its brightness. A touch tart at the end of the day, but a pleasant champagne nonetheless.

The final bottle from a case purchased a few years ago, with 2007 as its base wine. It has evolved at an almost glacial pace, it is still beautifully fresh and energetic, floral and earthy, with ripe but zesty citrus fruit, only hinting at nutty evolution, gentle but lively mousse, chalky core, linear, good length. Showing very well.

Really solid blanc de blanc that delivers for $40. Crisp, chalky, lots of minerals and just enough yeasty notes to remind you that you're drinking Champagne. There is a transparency to the wine that would make it a good example to show the elements that make up traditional method sparking wine production. Probably more of a workhorse than a dramatic flashy wine, but still really good.

Very good, lean, style of blanc de blanc. Lemon and green apples, with a good deal of minerality and autolytic notes. Very refreshing for the summer and pretty perfect on a lanai in Hawaii. Good value.

I continue to be impressed by these. The style is lean and sharply delineated, but I find it to be an expressive of blanc de blanc, showing more terroir and elevage. On the palate you get green apple, white grapefruit, lemons and maybe a little mint, but this is not a fruit forward wine. The principle notes are bready, yeasty and autolytic, with a lingering chalkiness that eventually fades to a wet stone flavor on a deceptively long, mouth watering and acidic finish. The nose is very much in line with the palate. Fine mousse. Very good within the style and a good value. If you prefer a richer, full bodied, Champagne, look elsewhere.

This is so fantastic. It's quickly become one of my favorite champagnes. Mellow, yeasty nose, but with sun-warmed apple orchard as well. You know the way a fruit-tree grove smells when you're walking through it on a warm sunny summer day? Yeah that. Crisp but soft palate, vanilla, Granny Smith, butterscotch, lemon meringue pie.

Undeniable blanc de blanc personality with strong chalk notes accompanying citrus, orchard fruit and slight ginger notes. Not the most complex wine you are going to come across, but a very good value at around forty bucks.
This was the white label Vertus, with 6g/l dosage, not the purple label Vertus, which is a brut nature. Not sure why they share a name, but it seems that they do.

Nose is quite pleasant with lemony dough, lemongrass, and maybe something akin to styrofoam; palate disappoints a bit with a broad, undefined attack and somewhat chunky weight. Nitpicking for a champagne at this price point, however. Probably just needs time to integrate, to be fair.

Disgorged 2014. Lots of green apples, a little yeast, some toast, grapefruit, elderflower, gooseberries, a bit of wet stone and a little vanilla.
Dry with medium+ acidity, quite generous fruitiness, round with a medium body and a medium intensity and finish.
Good quality Champagne at a decent price, £30 (260SEK). Not very exciting though and falls into the category of standard Champagnes that all taste the same and come by the dozen.

A very interesting comparison with the 2004 Oenophile from Gimonnet. Both are very clean and crisp wines and very much true-to-type; this one stems from the slightly deeper soils of Vertus and has a well-judged dosage. Slightly more earthy and rounded therefore, and a little more charming too, but not as precise and absolute as the Gimonnet. In both wines the stylistic precision is impressive and quality wise there is little to set them apart.

Made from +60 y.o. plots around Vertus 1er Cru vineyards. 75% of the wine is vinified in stainless steel and 25% in oak vats. The wine ages 7 months on the lees before it is bottled. The final blend consists of 3 consecutive vintages with the most recent base vintage making up the lion's share (80%). Aged for at least 2 years on the lees in bottles before disgorgement.
Pale lime green color. Rather reductive nose with aromas of smoky gunpowder character, fresh apples, some tangy citrus fruit notes, a little bit of toast and a slightest hint of oxidative spice. The wine is dry, lean and precise on the palate with light-to-medium body and bright flavors of grapefruit, sweeter ripe citrus fruits, some tart green apples, a little bit of chalky minerality and a hint of reductive gunpowder smoke. The wine is quite racy with high acidity and fine, soft and medium-long mousse. The finish is dry, quite bitter and somewhat austere with very lean flavors of pithy grapefruit, some key lime and a hint of barely ripe Granny Smith apple.
A rather typical young Blanc de Blancs: lean and refreshing but also quite austere up to the point of aggressiveness. It feels like the wine could use some flesh around its bones - and I really hope some cellaring might help. As the wine is very mineral and racy with very little in the way of autolysis, fruit and ripeness, it's a bit of a gamble whether the wine will actually develop in a cellar, or just fade away. Most likely the wine will soften up some and become a bit creamier with age, but one really can't be certain. Quite good, but a bit too stripped-down for my taste.

Mixed wines with Munskänkarna, including some Super Tuscans (Stockholm): The nose is mostly fruity with ripe yellow and green apples, citrus, some minerality, a hint of vanilla that indicates oak barrel treatment. The palate is dry with ripe green apples, some citrus notes, good acidity, some minerality, a hint of grapefruit bitterness and a long aftertaste that is dominated by green apples with some tartness. Quite decent but falls a bit in-between a firm blanc de blancs style and truly foody Champagne style. 86-87 p. I wouldn’t have minded if the small bitterness hadn’t been there, and I have been more impressed by other releases from Veuve Fourny, including of this wine.

From the same case as the bottle tasted in November 2013, so 2007 base wine. Complex and elegant, mature yet lively, white flowers, layered lemon fruit, fresh but ripe, hint of nutty evolution, attractive Vertus earthiness, lovely balance, style and length.

Open, maturing, quite bready. Quite savoury, fruit is subtle pear. I'm reminded slightly of a mealy and undersweetened pear tart. Good complexity, yeasty, long. Very good. Well worth keeping this a bit longer (purchased almost 2 years ago). Great acidity. I'm drinking this on its own but it would probably make a great food wine also.

Pale gold, vigorous mousse. Very pure, fresh nose, apple and honey notes, gunsmoke. Tight, young on the palate, fresh b-d-b profile, greengage fruit. Finishes long. Keeps improving with airing. taste: medium bodied with medium+ acidity that is nice and fresh, but the depth is lacking on this and the mid-palate is somewhat hollow. Good balance with tones of lemon zest, minerals and white fruits.

Not that it means anything or really matters at all, but this pale colored fizz has some of the absolutely smallest bubbles I've ever seen. Pretty classic, fresh and clean BdB nose of apple, citrus, dough and salty minerality. The mousse is not huge by any means but it is distinctive and gentle and stays for a good while. Not a very developed flavor profile, mostly citrus, apple and chalky minerals. Stylistically a bit restrained yet lean, well structured and elegant. Almost bone dry, but very approachable. The finish seems to be lacking something, feels a bit thin. Clearly inferior to Larmandier-Bernier's counterpart, but not bad. Definitely one to enjoy as an aperitif.

Lemons on the nose, leading to a palate that is cut, lean and tart. Light yeast, but otherwise the palate isn't giving up much. Mellows with air, softens, remaining tart and lean, with good acidity and verve and clean, clear fruit. Note that I'm not sure that the picture shown here on CT is correct; if you have a look at Fourny's website, you'll see what I believe is the updated label. Anyway, while this is a NV, I believe I caught this one too young and too tight. Hold. Watching fireworks with the kids.

Black Glass Society: Above 15% Dinner - Great Sherries and Big Aussie Reds (Jade Palace, Forum Galleria): Very pleasant NV. Nice nose. Yeast, earth, some toast, along with savoury mineral and sweetish white fruit scents. Palate was rather simple, but had this just deliciously mouthwatering balance and freshness, with lemony flavours riding on a bed of mineral. Finish was long and juicy, with more sweet lemons and a pure appley flavour. Lots of persistent, which was surprising given the narrowness of range flavour-wise. Must say this really came alive with the correct food, especially the scallops and truffled egg, which just set off a rush of flowers at the back-end of the palate. A pretty Champagne.

Kermit Lynch Tasting (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): All the Veuve Fourny wines show a very pale silver tone. Very fresh and interesting on the nose with a biscuity quality to the aromas of green apple and citrus. There are very subtle flavors on the palate with soft melon and citrus. The acidity is quite bracing and there is a wonderful expression of crunchy minerals. This is very pure and very subtle but there is plenty of backbone so I expect this to improve. 88+

12%. Bright light yellow. Citrus give way to yeasty toast smells as this opens and developed into some floral and vanilla notes. Not too busy fizz with small bulbbles. High acidity that cuts through the palate with high lemon and citrus fruit tones. A little short on the finsh with dry lemony edge. Limited complexity but a fantastic value under S$70. Light to medium-bodied. This will make a good everyday drinking champagne.

Floral/citrus tones give way to yeasty toast smells as this opens. Same on the palate. Honey-tinged lemon fades as a chalky minerality and soft, salty graphite comes through behind the fruit. Recent Wines; 3/10/2006-3/19/2006 (Around Tokyo): Bright light yellow-gold with restrained and very pretty mousse that moves vigorously up the very center of the glass. Nose starts out with spritzy lemon and the very first rudiments of developing toast. It moves on into a bit of mineral and some deeper white fruit notes. On the palate, nicely cutting acidity and bright apple/citrus fruit combined with a surprisingly deep white plum note. This finishes with more lemon, a tad of yeasty toast, and just a hint of honey. The white plum note is a bit incongruous, but otherwise this is stylistically reminiscent of Salon. Doesn’t have the depth or complexity to compete directly, but a good value under $40. I love good Blanc de Blancs. This also stayed very fresh and kept its mousse over the course of three days. I've had it for about six months, but don't know how long it had been with the merchant. This would certainly hold up to and benefit from a little bottle age.

Absolutely incredible if you like BdB. The right amount of dosage, sweet but still within the boundaries of being acceptable as brut. Incredible bubbles, clean and crisp. I would stock up on this, I think there is loads of potential for secondary flavors if cellared.

Really solid blanc de blanc that delivers for $40. Crisp, chalky, lots of minerals and just enough yeasty notes to remind you that you're drinking Champagne. There is a transparency to the wine that would make it a good example to show the elements that make up traditional method sparking wine production.

Absolutely gorgeous, this flows from the glass with bright pear, crumbled brioche, roasted hazelnut, and oyster custard aromas that are complex and well focused. Full and richly flavored on the palate, but very light on its feet with citrus, brioche and dried flower notes that sing through the long finish.

Just as fresh and good the second night-way to hang in there!

En god skumpa. Fina små bubblor, fin mineralitet men en lite sötare framtoning en jag hade förväntat mig. Men det blev ett perfekt möte med smörstekta ankleversnittar med havssalt. Vansinnigt bra kombo.

A hint of brioche on first pour (I've had it on the rack for nearly 2 years) but a very typical, lean citrussy blanc de blancs. Good in its class - very precise.

Pale pinkish yellow. Restrained nose. Served too cold. Lemon peel and Sprite nose. Bubbles not very delicate. After warming, poached pear and granny smith apple emerge as dominant flavor profile along with bit of uncooked pizza dough. Good, but with this price tag ($45)?

Karen and Jason's party -- A very bright and zingy Champagne, a bit acidic for my tastes but with strong seafood and shellfish would be a good cleansing drink.

Floral/citrus tones give way to yeasty toast smells as this opens. Same on the palate. Honey-tinged lemon fades as a chalky minerality and soft, salty graphite comes through behind the fruit. A little short on the finish, but with an interesting lemony edge. This isn't super complex, but not inelegant and very drinkable. Huge value too.
