No notes taken. This is a superb, young Dom Perignon. It might not be on par with the 2008 in terms of acidity, complexity, and stature, but it is already so good to drink today with all the signature toasty aromas, a beautiful minerality and a fresh citrusy core. Once mature and with a few more layers of complexity added, this will be even better.

Kentish Feast (Petts Wood): A lightness to this, also an intensity. Some brioche, even a hint of honey but so elegantly done and laid over a light frame with a kind of effortless acidity. Really really enjoyed this.
Super duft. Intens lys blomst😍 God balance. God eftersmag. Hverken sød eller bitter. God mere intens end smag. Drak i Riesling. Der savnede jeg noget bobler. Prøv i champagneglas næste gang.

I much prefer the 2012 to the 2013 vintage. There is a “bruised apple” character to this wine that is a touch off putting. I enjoyed the baked bread on the finish. If you prefer a flabby version of Dom that is easy drinking, go for the 2013. If you desire an age worthy balanced beauty, go for the 2012.
Soft white fruits on the nose. Imagine like a nectarine flavored white gummy bear. As far as taste goes it has a semi citrus flavor but a softer style of citrus. The acidity builds with the finish but isn’t too upfront. This would pair beautifully with some oysters. The finish last longer than a minute and doesn’t fall off fast at all. Ppl are downing this vintage but I find IT tasty an ready to go. I also gave the wine ample amount of air. Did not just dive in. I gave it an hour an some change.

This was poured into white wine glasses and really benefitted from 30 min in the glass to allow the decent amount of energy to fade. Then this presents with citrus leading into a somewhat delicate and well balanced wine. The finish lasts a minute plus. This is already outstanding but a solid 5 years out from its prime with at least 15 years of solid drinking. This may not have the depth and breadth of the best vintages but this is still delicious. This paired well with pompano. Revisit 2026
Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): A good, not great Dom, and probably not worth the tariff on the market today (get the tauter, intense 2012 instead). This is showing very young right now, with a decidedly potent amount of creamy white fruit on the nose and palate. This doesn't have the electrical excitement of the 2012 or 2008. This is a more easy-going wine, certainly enjoyable now and perhaps a good one to open now while the 2012 and 2008 rest.

Best bottle (Belsers Restaurant, Nürtingen): Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux Clear pale golden color. Very open, fine herbaceous nose. On the palate fresh, fine, with its notable sweetness certainly a crowd pleaser. Nevertheless very well made, nice fruit, mineral core, good length. Probably not made for the very long run. 92-93

Emirates flight. Beautiful showing. This is very precise and well balanced. A bit on the leaner side but if you value delineation over richness then this is a wonderful Dom Perignon

I will be honest that Dom Pérignon rarely thrills me like grower champagnes but this is actually really nice and already rather approachable/ready to drink (although I do think it stands to improve further with a bit more bottle ageing). Although it is my understanding that there is slightly more pinot noir than chardonnay in the blend, it is the latter that makes its presence felt the most. The nose is really lifted, complex and vibrant and the palate has just the right amount of minerality and complexity to put a smile on my face (although I will admit that I found the nose far more interesting than the palate). Have I had better/comparable for a fraction of the price? Sure, but this is still extremely enjoyable.
APPEARANCE: Color & intensity: pale lemon
NOSE: Intensity: medium (+) Aromas: mirabelle plum, toast, toasted almond, clementine, smoke, orange blossom, apricot, crushed chalk, hints of cardamom and eucalyptus Development: developing
PALATE: Sweetness: dry Acidity: medium Alcohol: medium Body: medium Mousse: delicate Intensity: medium (+) Flavors: toasted sourdough, toasted hazelnut, lemon, lemon zest, crushed chalk, smoke, hint of salt Finish: medium (+)
CONCLUSIONS: Quality level: very good (with potential to improve) Potential for ageing: can drink now but has good potential for further ageing

Dom Perignon - a champagne that I will always love. But the 2013 isn't like the 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 or 2012. A bit more acidic, slightly lighter in color. Same basic flavor profile with apple and pear, just not as good.

Per 50. More full bodied than the Cristal 08. Lovely reduction - popcorn. Apples and red berries. I like these bubblies that don’t kill you with their acid. In fact I recall the Cristal 13 as one of my favourites. So could be a vintage thing

Dinner at SSG. Third time tasting it in the past couple of month. This time to similar impressions as the last. This is an elegant and light expression of DP, generous and giving in its fruit while showing restrain, and finishing off with that trademark flint and mineral notes. Youthful but ready.

Opened for a friends bday. It’s crisp and light. The taste was only pretty much only lemon. Finish seemed a bit short. It was enjoyed by all of us however I don’t think it’s worth it at the $250ish price tag. Although nowadays I’m not even sure what is considered good pricing on any types of wine, whiskey, champagne as they continue to increase at crazy rates

This is not showing the same as the previous bottle. Very DP, that trademark gun flint, iodine, lemon and green apple but rather lean and restrained. Will check in again when given some air and warmth.
To similar impression after 2 hours, rounded, elegant and linear. Lacking some oomph, while retaining the DP DNA. Wide open to drink now already imo.

Flickinger Tasting at The Casino (Chicago, IL): A bit better than my last experience with this, but overall it's a wine best skipped (especially in light of the price increases) versus the 2012, which is outstanding. A little yeasty and autolytic on the nose and palate, with fruit on the sweet side and overall a bit simplistic.

Dom Perignon Tasting (Winter Village at the Westin, Edina, MN): Pale gold color. Drank a glass over 90 minutes plus next to the '12. Late harvest, 9/13 to 10/16, 10 years on the lees. The nose boasts of fresh air, bright fruit, pear, liqueur, and melon. The palate is fuller and more round than the '12; apple peel, tart lemon, zesty, yeast, stone, very even and easy drinking. Drinks quite nicely presently, shows less complexity than the '12, but it is quite enticing. 94(+)pts.

Nose: toast, brioche, honey, coconut Notes: somehow the aftertaste seems a little diluted almost. There's a green and acidic aftertaste to it so I can't say this is too enjoyable. I have a bit of suspicion this might be a big bottle variation here. Drink: ? Rating: 86

At Riu Palace Oasis, Maspalomas, Gran Canaria. Citrus, lemon, lime, green apple, almond, marzipan, creamy vanilla, biscuit, brioche, chalky minerality, and light smoke, with good acidity and great persistence. The high-quality mousse is ultra-fine, and creamy and smooth. Maybe the 2013 is not quite as concentrated and structured as 2002 and 2008, but if it is not than it is very close, and this young 2013 is very balanced and incredibly smooth despite of its youth, providing great drinking pleasure at this early stage.

I like age on my Champagne, and I found this to be a bit young. After being opened several hours, the flavors improved. The sad thing is...who leaves a bottle of Champagne open for several hours? Open it and let it sit for a few hours, or cellar it for another 5-10 years.

Enjoying this quite a bit more than an '02 I had recently which was for me way too lemon zest driven. This has a balance of bread and citrus notes and even a bit of strawberries on the nose. A great Dom. May buy some more.

My first Dom P, thanks Sam! Needs some air and time to open up, still quite tight and closed, typical yeast notes of brioche, toast and cheese, some yellow and citrus fruit, good length and balance, would really enjoy to retaste this in 5+ years

Boxing day at Caroline's: One for the road. I agree with Jason's previous note (same bottle) but he takes the glass half-full approach while I am more half-empty on this bottle. Broad and rich, a little advanced for ‘13 since most including myself guessed an older and more opulent year like ‘06. Didn't get the lightness that previous notes mentioned - perhaps not the most representative bottle?

my first taste of the 2013 and wow it's hedonistic. Quite crushable at youth already. There is white flowers, ripe stone fruit, yellow orchard fruits, trademark gunflint and a little touch of honey. The juice is harmonious and round, and I don't find too many rough edges on this (neither the acid nor the intensity is overbearing). Vs the 12 and the 08, which were painfully obvious that they should be better left alone when I drank them, the 13 is showing a more mellow, approachable and friendly side. With that said, I don't find that this is lacking in intensity of fruit, and thought it put on more than a good enough showing.

Christmas Eve with family. This a fine bottle of Dom without the intensity of the preceding 08, 09 and 12 trilogy. There was a fine bead, characterful nose of white peach, apricot, pale cherries, brioche and hazelnut. The palate showed medium intensity fruit with that typically filigree touch of minerality and grip that define young Dom. A delicious celebratory bottle.

Not sure this DP compares with the 2010 as I found it much better. Straw color, young, fine active bubbles. On the nose some toast, chalk, lots of citrus fruit, mineral, a hint of jasmine. Great on the palate, lots of freshness, very crisp and toasty finish. Enjoyable now and over at least the next ten years.

After taking a sip of this wine - I instantly achieved orgasm, and my IQ doubled. Women found me more attractive, and I finally got that promotion. My hair started growing back, and my son began to respect me as a man.
Minerality, citrus zest, crossiant drizzled with honey & toasted almonds, stone fruit, apple, a hint creaminess.
Young Dom is never worth it in my opinion. A bunch of other options I'd rather get for the price.

Beautiful pinpoint bubbles. Expressive, layered nose. Smoky orchard fruits, citrus oil and almond biscuits over a chalky streak. Absolutely seamless on the palate with incredible flavour intensity and a lovely, refined texture. The nutty tarte tatin finish just continues to build and evolve. Simply delicious. Drinking well now from pop and pour but will continue to improve.
WSET Notes:
Pale gold. Delicate mousse.
Pronounced on the nose with citrus oil, apple, pear, smoke, brioche, biscuit, chalk, almond. Developing.
Pronounced and dry on the palate. High acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, long finish.
Can drink now but has potential for ageing.

This really has compelling verve. I continue to be impressed with this vintage of Dom. There is a wow factor for me akin to the 169 Krug to which I'm a fan (also a 2013 base). Great acidity and speed with the 2013 Dom. Much better than 2012 for my style. Again, the 2013 vintage strikes gold again. Lemon and chalk hit with fortitude, relaxing mid-palate with enough expansion to allow for the fruit to offer some breadth, and then speeding back up on the finish. Best "regular" Dom ever (excepting perhaps a recent 2002 P2 that was a tick more complex).

A much more electric performance than its 2012 sibling, this 2013 Dom is perhaps the best young vintage yet. I’ve sampled this twice now with consistent results (first at French Laundry a few months back and now with the home test where I could spend even more time with it). The last sample of 2012 I had was yeastier and more doughy, whereas this 2013 is focused, chiseled, and vibrant. This is an ager for sure, but it’s hard to resist its youthful energy and popping acidity now. Even with its nervy, lemony, mineraly, florals, jumpy house demeanor, there is an elegance that is noteworthy. Drink now for the kungfu kick or hold for the next decade or two.

The palate shows quite similarly to the nose with nice freshness and lift. Minerals, light fruits, gentle bitterness, hay, and dried earth. The juiciness of this champagne blend gives it an awesome liveliness on the palate. Don’t feel bad opening these now cause these are pretty awesome.

After what I felt was a bit of a disappointing vintage of 2012 DP, the 2013 restored a bit of confidence in this brand and the 1996 tasted on the same day solidified the notion that DP with a good amount of bottle age can really shine. The wine shows a tinge of toast, small mandarin oranges, a bit of floral notes and shows bright, clean flavors. I will forget these last two bottles for 15 years and hope that time rewards.
Such a contrast with the 2002 P2 Dom I had last night. (Not a surprising contrast at all but still fun to experience directly). 02 was all rich power and fully uncoiled; 13 was tight and delicate chalky candy and delicate flowers. Definitely needs 5+ years more for the 13 to come into its own.

Gorgeous, elegant, vineous nose of delicate pear, hazelnut and a really deep, toasty, yeasty aroma with a hint of chalk. Extremely light, precise palate of citrus, green apple, cream with very tiny, fine bubbles and a mineral acidity that dances across the tongue. Long, nutty, saline finish. May be produced by the million, but damn this stuff is good.

La Fęte du Champagne Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Walkaround tasting with the producers. Lots of richness right now, this seems so forward and fun, but finishes with sneaky great length. Complexity certainly to emerge. Great potential. My 1st time trying this vintage.

Dom Perignon 2013.

bright light yellow color, floral and fresh, still with the firm structure it showed back in April- but filling out beautifully more quickly than expected, great length and very approachable.
My lengthy note in April still stands- with the above changes indicated. For my part, this is now clearly a 5 star effort and while I am not ready to say it is better than the 2012, I do have a slight personal preference for it at this time as it begins to behave more and more like the 1996 (if on a slightly lesser scale.)

As with so many Champagnes, the 2013 Dom is a stunner. This bottle is fresh, and delightful, and pure. With fresh white fruit, and some citrusy things going on. The mineral here is fine, and adding complexity, enveloping the fruit! I love the dense and complex entry, that bombs the fruit, yet it remains light and playful. Great bottle.

Pale golden yellow in color with a very fine & constant perlage. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of apples, citrus notes of lemons/limes with overtones of floral & yeasty notes, almonds, brioche, chalky, minerals, wet stones & a hint of salinity. Medium-light bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, zesty, ripe fruit flavors of apples & citrus notes of lemons/limes with yeasty/toasty, stony & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present although it should develop further with additional aging at which time it may score higher (94+).

Noticeably sweeter than expected, and lighter. Will improve hugely over the next 3-5yrs but I remember being much more impressed by both the 08 and 12 at a similar age - they combined more body with the fresh drive. Very drinkable though, got through 2bts before a dinner. Much prefer the richer 13 Cristal, not tried 13 Comtes yet. 93+pts

Light yellow colour with endless streams of very fine bubbles rising in the glass leading way for the lovely nose showing baked bread, chalk and citrus notes at first and adds some yellow apples after some time in the glass in a very pleasant way. Nice and smooth with green apples and chalk on the palate at first and with a very lovely and lengthy finish showing some bitterness. This is good already, but should benefit from some extra years in the cellar for sure! (Best 2023-2043)

Family Holidays; 7/28/2023-9/10/2023 (Alicante - España): By the glass. In this cold vintage, according to knowledgeable in the matter critics in, this ever fluctuating mixture of Chardonnay and Pinot noir has become more austere than elegant, more fresh than delicate. At least for now. Alcoholic volume of 12.5%. Once again, multifaceted nose with brittle balsamic aromas that prevail over fruit ones. Charming rather than precise. Initially the palate is ethereal and refined, very fresh with a very changing structure and a clearly salty aftertaste. In my modest opinion, right now a step above Bollinger B13 although the complexity is also yet to come.

Not very far off from the quality of the 08, but at a much more attractive price. Minerality is very pronouced and interplays nicely with light brioche notes. Just a tad short on the length. An accomplished wine
2018 Dauvissat Family Chablis Tasting (Seattle): A buddy was nice enough to open a bottle of this so we could get our own read on this vintage. I thought this was one of the more interesting infant vintages of Dom that I've tried. If you plan to lay your Dom down for a decade or two before opening, then I agree that the 2008 or 2012 would be the way to go, but if you open those young the will be TIGHT and more of an intellectual exercise than a pleasurable one. On the other hand, the 2013 is more forthcoming today and has some "green/herbacious" notes that make it more interesting and enjoyable today.

- The nose is still a little restrained, with aromas of citrus peel, pear, butter, yeast and nuts. The secondary aromas are overweight - the wine is generous/bold. - Not quite balanced yet, especially on the palate, not as laser-sharp as the '08, just a broader and less precise version of it. The acidity is not as high as it should be for a very big and storable vintage. The finish is very long and lingers for almost a minute. The ease of drinking is a little lacking. - It has the potential to become great, even if it will probably not reach the level of the '08 or '12. - 93 points

Champagne Cornucopia - DP vs Krug MV (Chez D): I think i was in a minority view with this but I felt it was a slightly lighter, more awkward sibling to the 2012. Probably worth holding on to, but it’s still pleasurable today.

Reynard Dinner (Ada St.): Second go around with this since it's local release. It's young and a bit awkward with lots of power, rich fruit and acidity just not yet in harmony and therefore angular. I'm bullish that this is going to be another strong vintage for Dom where, for me, the highs and lows aren't extreme.

Allemand Reynard survey (Chicago, IL): The closest comparison is the 2010, which was a pretty weak version. This is obviously incredibly young, having been released a few months back, but it lacks the wow factor of the 2008 and 2012. Right off the bat, it's a lot of white grape, some acidity, and a surprisingly plush white fruit quality, but it doesn't pick up much weight and concentration even with a few hours of air (unlike the 2013 Cristal alongside). Not worth the bump in tariff over the 2012 at all.

Lay & Wheeler Summer tasting: This really hit the spot for me - a proper 'aha' moment. First and foremost it's a superb wine: hints of a fine white Burgundy with the mineral and fruit perfectly in balance, chiselled and wonderfully delineated. Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): I’m not 100% sure this release has made it to the US yet or at least we haven’t seen it as much as the 2012 that’s been around. Interesting because all of the hype for many years has been around the ‘08 and I don’t remember anyone telling us we need to look out for the ‘13 but on this trip we’re hearing it a lot more. A vintage that is meant to be very long lasting. Earlier in the day we’d tried the Rare ‘13 and here again there’s just a great acid backbone to these wines. Really young and needs a lot more time. But overall great stuffing.
bright light yellow color, spectacular nose of creamy pear and white stone that leaps from the glass, on the palate vibrant and full bodied, lime zest dominates the front, then toast and crisp apples across the middle, long linear razor sharp finish where roasted walnut notes emerge, intense, electric, 2 hours later- pure, lean, white stones and crystalline acidity, barest hints of cream, all citrus in yellows and greens, as tense and lively a Dom as I have ever seen, and yet it remains elegant and seamless- losing none of its usual steady bearing, a very fine vintage for Dom Perignon- most akin to the 1996 of recent vintages but even more obviously acidic at present and it is not yet certain this will have the full depth the 1996 possesses, to put it another way- this is the complete opposite of the 2002 stylistically though both are of similar scale, where the 2012 is a great vintage that can be enjoyed now and probably its whole life- the 2013 is one to lock away for at least a decade, it is certainly worth a peek right now- and perhaps for regular enjoyment if you share my love of racy and digitally defined champagnes- but this is going to take a long time to reach its full potential and even more than the 2008 this has a certain reluctance that can only be resolved with time.

Flinty with matchstick reduction typical of DP. Nice spicy notes, a bit stern and serious at the moment. Somewhat high pitched, without the volume and richness I like in Dom, and that may be a function of time in bottle. Not near the brightness or pure fruit that the 2012 had. I put this a small step above 2010 but below the level of 12 and 08

Fresh on the nose with hints of toast, green apple, and citrus. The palate is relatively lean and lively with a good acid spine and a fine bead; a bit of white stonefruit and citrus with a hint of spice, and a nice, crisp, minerally finish.

Dom Perignon - a champagne that I will always love. But the 2013 isn't like the 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 or 2012. A bit more acidic, slightly lighter in color. Same basic flavor profile with apple and pear, just not as good.

Not very far off from the quality of the 08, but at a much more attractive price. Minerality is very pronouced and interplays nicely with light brioche notes. Just a tad short on the length. An accomplished wine

4개월전 첫 시음때보단 훨씬 좋은..
적당한 산도와 좋은 발란스 피니쉬 좋고..
맑은 느낌이다.
쓰기만 했던 첫번째와는 달라도 너무 다른...

Xiquet w/ PML (Xiquet (Washington DC)): Light aromas of fresh brioche. Good. Kinda just tastes like normal champagne. High-minus acid. Well-integrated dosage. Nothing sticks out. It's solid but not super interesting.

Champagne Cornucopia - DP vs Krug MV (Chez D): I think i was in a minority view with this but I felt it was a slightly lighter, more awkward sibling to the 2012. Probably worth holding on to, but it’s still pleasurable today.

Modest in DP character, with a raw, green acidity. Too young perhaps. QPR a bit off for now

Lemon and blossom, just a hint of orange peel. Then the gentle autolytic character and fine, pinpoint bubbles add another dimension. It's drinking beautifully right now.

Very classic and great structure. Sharp acidity, precise, linear with bright green and citrus fruits, chalky minerals, toast. Clean. Will be great in a decade.

Reynaud Tasting (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Glass: Spiegelau Universal
Not blind. Fresh, very open and drinkable right now. Some citrus/lime notes, good tension and energy, creamy, balanced and round. Probably not made for decades, but at the moment really approachable and joyful to drink. Quite long, dense finish. 92-93

Highly enjoyable, very delicious, and really a pleasure to drink right now, but it surely will be able to age.

Scent is rich of white flowers and white and light green fruit.
The taste is very young, fresh, vibrant and lively. Light green body, citrus fruits.
A little to young and lacks depth in the aftertaste. Also a little flat. should be stored, but can easily be enjoyed as it is.
