Reading recent review I thought to catch this before its downfall. Yum. This reminds me of a more developed version of the 2006 drunk recently out of magnum. Typical rich Pol Roger style with nutty golden fruit deliciousness and well-integrated acidity. Preferred this on the pop and pour; with extended air it became a touch ponderous. For my taste this is a drink now wine.

Value in Champagne? (Todd's): This was the groups WOTN. It is quite good but not inexpensive ($95). Deep gold in color. Slight mushrooms with a bit of ginger ale. On the palate, slight amount of bubbles. Good acidity. There is a nice level of complexity. Very focused. Some citrus, slight ginger. Long finish.

Lovely, rich and powerful - This is a balanced and very enjoyable effort which to me is a perfect example of how power and elegance may be combined into a singing whole. Lovely creamy fruit, brioche, medium toast and rich minerals permeate the overall experience. Acidity is striking, but still plays on the same grand piano as the rest of this beautiful effort. Texture and structure tell me it is about time to drink right now, but a few more years will most likely do no harm. A pleasure provider - well worth having sip or two if given the chance.

Showing some maturity with baked winter apples and lots of nutty notes. Orange, lemon, ginger and a hint of the tropics (pinapple, mango). Good mousse, medium acidity and intense, almost heavy, sweet fruit on the palate. Also a touch of milk-chocolate. Finishes medium + long with more of the oranges and nutty notes. Very good. Saknar viss elegans men alltid väldigt gott.

Very toasty on opening with the feel that you get from an aged bottle of Charles Heidsieck. Perhaps the toastiness was a little hars in places, but this smoothed out and on day two gave the wine the richness you'd associate with DP. Based on my impression on night two, I'll hold my other bottle for a bit.
91-92, a good buy.

The bubbles in the glass are very tiny and form a nice and constant stream, that lasts very long. This of course is a good sign. The colour is yellow to dark yellow and tells you, that there is quite some load in the glass. In the nose somehow closed, but hints of brioche and almond.
In the mouth very lively. Surprisingly funky considering it's weight and colour. Intense brioche taste. Combined with almond and marzipan. Fruit is somehow missing and therefore a higher rating is out of reach.
In my personal opinion, drink it 2 degree warmer than your usual champagne. It will benefit and gain complexity.

Very good champagne with a rich and slightly burly character. It appeals on its size and flamboyance in the mouth. Still a baby. It has plenty if complexity but I was never completely convinced by its balance. This is most likely because being drunk after Salon 1990 did it no favors! At D and P's new house.

Tenuta Sette Ponti "Oreno" Dinner (Otto e Mezzo, Alexandra House, Central, Hong Kong): Light copper-gold. Fine bead. Restrained, elegant nose with a burnished copper metal element, then lots of wafts of fresh-baked baguette. Palate is quite sharp and lean….aloof but elegant…very low or no-dosage. With that typical steely element: clean and fresh. Quite metallic at first but pleasantly so and then it softened with time and rounded out. Quite heady. Very enjoyable as an aperitif.

The first thing I notice is how incredibly delicious this champagne is. My mouth salivates, indicating a good amount of acidity. Delivered with good finesse and liveliness, it makes for a medium-full body experience that is also quite dry. This is quite surprising because the cuvee has 10.4% sugar dosage added – more than I’m used to in a brut these days. The gorgeous classic characteristics of the Chardonnay emerge. It manifests as dried fruits and stewed pear rounding out with yeasty creaminess before morphing into flakes of toasted nuts with cloves. The texture is smooth as silk and crystal clear; a very light mouth-coating prevails, ending with the cleansing aftertaste of lemon sorbet and a very long finish. Just like Sir Winston Churchill, the 2000 vintage most definitely displays ‘robustness, structure and maturity’. A classic and truly delicious champagne that I look forward to having again and again.See my blog: www.fortheloveofchampagne.blogspot.com

2010 Masters of Wine Champagne Tasting (San Francisco, CA): Light golden color. Incredible nose: deep and powerful with yeasty toast and almond aromas. Full-bodied palate continues what began on the nose with rich flavors of apple, mineral, light spice, yeasty toast and roasted nuts. Powerful but refined with exquisitely balanced acidity. Long finish. Still plenty of time to mature, but this is drinking surprisingly well right now for such youth. The best I’ve had from Pol Roger – simply fantastic!

Golden colour. Nose of toast, roasted almonds, ripe fruit and lots of red citrus. Still young with a hint of green on the edges. Mousse is perhaps a bit weak, but still a very crisp and fresh youngster, with lots and lots of fruit, brioche and that amazing red citrus. High acidity, might benefit from a few years in the cellar. Very good. Drink or hold.

Saknar viss elegans men alltid väldigt gott.

The colour is now quite deep, and the flavours are mature. This bottle is showing its age, the first time we have noticed this. If this is typical, it needs drinking, although it is still very enjoyable.

Great!
