Bright ruby colour belies its 14 years age, only slightly fading at the rim. Secondary aromas of leather immediately apparent with blackberry and other black fruits still well and truly there. The attractive nose is slightly let down on the palate. Firm tannins, but a little hollow on the mid palate.
A good table wine with a very good QPR. Pleasing nose of prune, mushroom, damp soil, and licorice and a palate showing sour cherry, prune, plum, licorice, tobacco, forest floor, and black pepper. Low/med acidity and tannins and a smooth finish. It is as good as it's going to get, and perhaps on the downward trend so drink now.
Another go at this one! It's available at K&L for $21 so you can't lose. Getting pepper and mushrooms on the nose. As with last time, very limited fruit on the palate - more musty dusty leather, very soft and light, but very satisfying with a nice lingering finish.
Bohemian garnet, not very fine and clear with brownish light brim; opened with the nose of pencil lead, lots of wood and earth; after half an hour - some secondary smell of cooked fruits. On the palate – not too much alcohol, very little acidity and fully integrated tannins. Little bit too woody for my taste, but worked well with Gruyere cheese; short to medium finish. Definitely over the peak already… If you still have a bottle or two – drink now.
