  • Continues to be a vintage that does not impress. Red berries, dusty, good acidity, but lacking complexity.

  • Lovely, generous, plums, earth, slight herbaceous underpin, a little leather, touch of vanilla...generous and rich on the palate, grippy tannins support, fruit slightly dried out here but all travel long. Nice.

  • Was worried this was old in the tooth and past it’s best. Cork fell apart on pulling - was glamping so poured though a piece of kitch towel into vase (decanter )! Needn’t of worried - was truly sublime - faint woodland aromas but smooth and refined drinking - lingering palate - truly sensational ! Wish I had another bottle…

  • This has a clean-cut tannic bite to it and pure 'gobbsely-fruit' to serve.

I dare say I expected more than a cute cool-fruited wine with Cali-vibes and goody-two-shoes-whatever. This is simply a pizza wine with some small upside. Not long. Not complex.

Beautiful tannic structure, though. Without it, this would barely be 81p…

    Didn't cut it through tonight's paté… *sigh*

I first fell in love with Ridge in the late 1900-eds, as it was an amazing $20 wine. That was some less gray-haired years back, and it was great! This wine is still great! However, it's still a $25 wine, with a $65 price tag.

I get it: capitalizing on your well built brand name. Well, it only catches those late to the party AND they'll always be looking for the next party…

Tonight, I decided to stop purchasing Ridge wines. There are so many other amazing districts, wine makers and deals available… I mean: if you still count under 200 regions on CT, keeeep exploring!

  • Very nice and well worth the wait. Smooth, balanced, very long finish. Complex flavors. Just a slight bitter edge. Starting to develop tertiary flavors.

(GEYSERVILLE Ridge) UPDATE: 4th of July Hours The warehouse will be closed next Friday and Saturday, July 3rd and 4th. Also, next Thursday, July 2nd, the warehouse will close early because of the Great Producers Tasting tasting at 5:30. To accommodate set up for the tasting, pick up hours are 11-2 (instead of 11-6). Please plan accordingly if you wish to pick up for the holiday weekend next week! Thank you, The Garagiste Warehouse ************************* Ridge Dear Friends, Paul Draper believes 2007 is among the 2-3 finest vintages of his career - enough said. Today, we present a selection of the new releases from Ridge and they are very promising indeed. This California stalwart needs little introduction and, while two California offers in one week is a bit much for us, Ridge is an exception. The 2007 vintage in Northern California has already caused a 2005 Bordeaux/Burgundy-like frenzy among Napa/Sonoma enthusiasts and we're just at the beginning. All of the entrants below command considerable attention and you can pretty much throw darts to find top-tier quality. If you are looking for a powerful California Chardonnay that actually tastes of its place and varietal, the 2007 Estate is quite underpriced versus comparable bottles from the Golden State - it will surprise a great number of you with its regal style. Ditto for the Geyserville. All are set to arrive in a few days and will be available for local pick up after the holiday weekend: 2007 Ridge Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay Estate 2007 Ridge Geyserville (Sonoma) 2007 was such a good vintage in Sonoma that this is destined to unwind (after its bottle shock) into a very long-lived version of this California classic. There are old-time (i.e., pre-cult wine) vintners that feel the 2007 vintage (in general) may be as good as 1968 in Sonoma - now that's high praise. 2007 Ridge East Bench Zinfandel (Dry Creek) Ditto for this wine - another Sonoma product that delivers a mouthful of fruit and substance for far less of an entrance fee than most. If you are a fan of the big and brambly (while still reigned in), this is for you. ...we also have a small parcel of this wine: 2005 Ridge Lytton West Syrah (Someone told me this wine received 95pts from somewhere but I can't find it - maybe one of you can let everyone know on the Forum board? What I do know is that this belies a California style, instead looking to Ampuis for its inspiration.) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA CA8710 CA8720 CA8730 CA8749
