From the many beautiful premier and 2 eme grand crus from 1953 from the left bank and the giants from the right bank that I have been able to drink, this was one of the most impressive wines ever. The color showed minor signs of browning. Incredible powerful and youthful, fruit forward with great tertiaire notes, earth, tobacco, spices. Round and enorm out length. This wine was a treat, but needs more year to reach its peak. Incredible. Many decades to go go!

DnP. Dark deep red, slim yellow edge, 6. Wonderful complex bouquet, lots dark fruit, spicy, mocca, leather, jasmin flowers. I could go on. On the palate there is still tannin and freshness, intense but elegant, long long finish. Drink now but no hurry. It will keep for decades. This is what it’s all about.

Cheval Blanc Vertical ‘Chez Elke’ (Hotel Hohenzollern, Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler): Stunner and so surprising! This even edged out the 47 that night (at least for me). Coffee, mocha, cassis, chocolate, incredibly dense wine with a long long finish. AMAZING!

Gorgeous gorgeous bottle. Wonderful aromas of coffee, mocca and cassis. Insanely powerful for its age with still significant tannins.

An Evening of Vinous Merriment and Majesty Among Friends (Craft, New York): An amazing nose. Very polished mouthfeel. The wine feels light on its feet but has the classic merlot flavor profile. Very nuanced and complex. Delicious
