  • 15333/16689. Stunning red fruit, rose petal, outgoing spice, citrus, meaty, Asian tea, light woody on the finish. All out in such grace and balance, old DRC at its best. Friend complimented "as good as 69 RC," which, despite it being somewhat exaggerated, just shows how there are good old bottles, not wines. Among my favorite Eche experiences to date (out of ~20 bottles as this is not a cuvee I usually drink, right there next to 10' and 99'), and consensus WOTN. 94

  • Purchased from a Zachys auction several years ago. The label was in tatters. However, the cork came out in one piece thanks to Jeff. That was probably the best of the experience. I know little about Burgundy and even less so about DRC. The contents of the bottle was like flat cola in both appearance and taste. No fruit. Very little acid left. Jeff didn't think it was flawed, but I've had several Bordeaux and even a no-name Barolo producer that were as older or older and that were still alive. I expected much more.

  • Sourced from a collectors somewhat-less-than-ideal passive cellar, and showed lots of over-the-hill characteristics. I was graciously offered the last of the bottle, which had been open throughout the day. As such, tons of sediment. A fair bit of oxidation too. Between copper and amber in color. In spite of that, a streak of pleasant strawberry fruit on the palate. By no means undrinkable. Still, IMO better in the bottle where the mystery stays alive.

  • Bottle in great condition. Not a mindblowing wine, but a great experience. Not over the hill by any means, showed nice mature leather, tea, dust, slight cherry, hints of spices. Probably time to drink these up.

  • After the dinner, I grabbed the bottle and took it to Amy’s. I shook sediments which was a big mistake. Noticeable oxidative metallic note, mostly dry fruits, red cherries, strawberry rhubarb tart, sous bois, soy and earth. Good concentration, sweet dry fruits, bright acidity and a hint of madeira/oxidative note. I definitely committed a sin by abusing the bottle.
