Opened about 90 minutes before dinner and then enjoyed during the course of a 3 hour dinner. Overall, a great wine with good balance and complexity. On the nose, getting black currant, earth and truffles. The palate, however, gravitates towards rasberry and other red fruits with solid acidity. Really enjoyed this wine.
Dinner at Laurent, Paris. Opened 4 hours prior to drinking. Wow, this is a big wine. Very primary on the nose and palate, but with nice grip and complexity. Bright red fruits and acidity with a lingering finish. This appeared very young and I believe will be better integrated with more time. Still, a wonderful wine.
At RN74 dinner. Big, nutty, nose with red fruits and secondary smells. More feminine than the GE, with more red fruits, less game. Very rich black cherry flavor with walnuts and solid acid backbone with fine tannins. Long finish and great balance; stellar Echezeaux.
Sotheby's Tasting (New York, NY): Wine tasting. Pale fruit with some better spice on nose. Fruit doesn't come across particularly elegantly on palate, with prominent acidity and some overripe character. I would wait a while longer, thinking this will become more interesting when less primary and almost completely secondary.
