Straw. Disgorged in 12/22 with the 50% 2018. Nice, not super intense, but interesting nose with flowery notes, apricots, brioche, minerals. On the palate not a powerhouse, but really delicate with the above mentioned notes and also some red fruits. Gentle and delicate. This is not meant for extended cellaring of course. But I guess that this with this disgorgement date should hold through 2024 if stored at 10°-12°C. 5/13/17/8.

Base 2018 with perpetual reserve. Disgorged 2022. Pale straw. Cut ripe apple on the nose. Moderate-coarse mousse. In the mouth, green and red apple again, and brioche. Dry, relatively low acidity. A touch fleshy. Mild-moderate salt in the mid which lingers nicely into the finish. A bit subdued but easy drinking.

Refreshing apple and citrus, no malo so it does have a certain sharpness but it also fills out in the mouth and becomes more of an indulgence than simply an acid bomb or sparkling Chablis-ish thing.
Very nice!

Tasted the 2018 base. Pale lemon in the glass. Aromas of citrus fruit (juice and rind), nectarine, brioche. Light-bodied with a soft mousse and low alcohol. Acidity is moderate, refreshing. Not exactly a life-changing wine but it will do the job if you're not out for complexity and amazement.

Disgorged 06/20. Served blind. Blend of all three dominant cepages, not sure of ratio. Whatever wine was keep in cask, at least to me, this adds some of the cask.wood aromas, along with some brown spice and floral. Green apple, brown spice, licorice and a fruit signature that is a razzy red. With air, the red fruit to come forward, mainly what I sensed as strawberry.

The Wine Society: Taste the new list. Brief notes: Green apple nose. Citrus fresh on the entry but the flavour builds on the palate with a real depth of flavour - nots of lemon tart, brioche and a touch of yeast. Very good.

DG 01/2022 By the glass at Damas in Montreal. Nose is a bit funky, brioche-y almost smokey with a nice depth that is hard to describe but nice. Palate is lemon rinds, green almond, sightly yeasty finish. Very nice champagne, not exactly life-changing but it pairs amazingly well with middle eastern mezzes.

35% Meunier, 35% PN, 30% Chardo Base 2017 + Réserve perpétuelle Dégorgement Janvier 2022 Dosage 5g/l Same as previous experiences which talks to some good work to keep it constant throughout vintages. Red apple, spices and hints of chalk on the nose. The palate adds some yeast with supporting crisp acidity and a touch of chalkiness. The finish is a little short but this is a good Champagne and nice QPR.

recent release from late 21 purchase. very similar experience to Nojomoschwa tasting note with regards to assertive and carbonic bubbles. I didn't find the wine sour though, and thought the saline profile was quite nice, but the bubbles were almost a flaw so hard to give this any rating given that fact.

First time trying this producer. Was not impressed. The bubbles were way to assertive and rough and prevented any enjoyment…even after about 3 hours. Seemed sour and not balanced. Ugh.

Base vintages 2014 and 2015, degorgement July 2019. Delicious stuff. A good 2 1/2 years of aging have opened up the flavours of this champagne which is now bursting with ripe red and yellow fruits, sweet pastry, vanilla and a good dose of chalky minerality, everything delivered in quite a hedonistic fashion. Elegant tiny bubbles and a beautifully textured mouthfeel. While the aftertaste is only good but not great, this is still a champagne, that cannot be compared to grandes marques at a similar price, it easily punches above their weight.

Roar! Magnificent RM/grower to kick start The Year of the Tiger! Disgorged April, 2017 - fortunate to have a little age before consumption with this. Elegant and refined with green apples and pie crust on the palate followed by a chalky, mineral heavy finish. Voluptuous body, with a taste more extra brut than brut imo. As the glass warms, a robust nose of saline and mushrooms, which also extends to palate. Really masterful! Perfectly balanced with big, lengthy finish and layers of complexity. There is a slight disconnect between nose and palate, which is intriguing and fascinating to me as I don't sense much fruit on the nose. *Sourced from and designed to "express" the family's 1er Cru plots in Cumiers and Hautvillers.

Retail $50. At Wine Bistro, Columbus, Ohio, $71. Disgorged Feb, 2016. The somm at the restaurant said it was 100% Meunière but after a bit of research, while it changes every bottling, it seems to always include the three main grapes in Champagne at roughly a third each. Also, approximately 50% of the wine comes from the current vintage and the other half from a perpetual reserve, essentially a solera system, which I think is fairly rare in Champagne. This certainly has some age on it as is witnessed through the cork (which, once pulled, never really expanded--which suggests the cork had been in there for quite some time), the slightly golden color, and the yeasty/ever-so-slightly oxidized character on the nose. There are also hints of lemon curd and a distinct nuttiness (hazlenut?). The palate does not have as many of the “a bit older” markers, but there is plenty of tartness, layers of that citrus (with hints of green apple) and that nuttiness is more pronounced. Really fantastic.
Deg Jan - 2015. Solid stuff - holding up Pear, apples, bread, flowers, minerals. Palate with green apples, lemons, lime, and freshly baked bread. Still young and lively with medium acidity.

First bottle out of a case. This fell slightly short of my expectations but will still be a "serviceable" Champagne with food. Rather large "grossiers" bubbles for this non-vintage Champagne. The lack of yeast autolysis character confirms that this surely hasn't seen enough aging. The aromatics are clearly on the citrus side, so I suspect that the Chardonnay is quite dominant here. There is some saline minral quality to be found but not enough. It drops off quite quickly and lacks the texture expected. As I said "serviceable"...

Ordentliche Säure, sehr frisch, gut strukturiert und anspruchsvoll erfrischend. Als Aperitif erstmal etwas zu sauer aber zu entsprechenden Snacks hält der Wein dann gut dagegen. 2014/15 Vintage.

Great entry level bubbles, really like the balance of each varieties (Pinot Noir/Pinot Meunier/Chardonnay) which are complementing each other. For a 5g/L brut, it is well balanced.

Based on 2012 and 2013 vintages, 50% meunier, 40% pinot noir, 10% chardonnay; disgorged December 2017; dosage 7g/l.
This has grown on me as it has warmed up and got some air. Initially I felt it was all a bit nice but bland. After a while there's a nice toasty nose, with a hint of green apple. The palate is quite full, with quite a strong bite and there's a crisp finish. Still not particularly interesting, but pleasant enough as an aperitif.
The thing that makes this stand out is the price: at under US$30 it's very decent QPR for competent champers.

Disgorged May 2019. 2014 & 2013 blend, per Skurnik Imports. Delightful! Tart up front, like Sweet Tart candies. Notes of raw honey, toasted white bread and fresh lime juice on the palate. Lovely finish of candied citron and smoke that lingers. Great value! Marries the richness of Cumieres with a bright, peppy energy. My guess is non-malo?

Extremely energetic bead. Pale burnished good color. Quite moody and deep on the nose, with some dusty cellar and smoke notes mixing with the sourdough autolytic aromas. The fruit lurks beneath, with a sort of preserved lemon / bruised apple profile. And then with a bit of air, a sweeter, spicier side comes around, with characteristics of pie crust and cinnamon. Quite creamy mousse, which is very nice, and very good balance, leaning toward the racy, linear side of the spectrum. The preserved lemon fruit prevails over the apple here, and it’s still very vinous, with quite a bit of intensity and depth peeking out from behind the bubbles. The secondary notes of minerals and smoke are still there, lending some character to the fruit. Maybe a tad abrupt on the finish. It doesn’t really bloom as much as just recede.
This is a good reasonably priced (for the region) Champagne. Great texture, good balance, some personality, some depth, and nothing really to complain about.

Disgorged in 2012, this is a solid, if unexceptional Champagne. I got it for about $30, which is fair vale. Overall it had good fruit, a nice mouthfeel and good persistence. My only quibble was that it seemed a touch sweeter than I prefer. It was an easy wine to drink, and was a crowd pleaser, so it did serve its purpose. If I could get more in the $30-$35 range I would buy it for parties and non-geek dinners. Otherwise I'll step up the price bracket for something a more interesting.

6/12 disgorgement. Very nice crisp, clean style. A bit 'Chablis with bubbles'-esqe. Great lemon tang, bracing acidity (someone's notes said 'aggressive') and I'd agree this is nicely assertive, forward and bold in a subdued, elegant, crisp, clean style. Not super long, complex, briochey, or oxidative, this is just well done and delicious. The wife loved it, and this is right in her wheelhouse. Me too. 89pts pure quality, 92pts personal preference

I absolutely love this wine. For the price, you can't beat it. The nose is super expressive: yeasty with huge stone fruit notes. On the palette, it's ripe, bold and pushy in the best way possible. Aggressive is the word I'd use for it. Like, it wants to hit every possible tastebud in your mouth. Amazing, really. Loved it. Cuvee Expression, aptly named.

Really enjoyed this champagne. Yeast and citrus nose, dry on the pallet with a nice balance between mineral and citrus (but not too dry). This is not a "big", yeast driven champagne - it's far more suited to be matched with food than drunk alone in my opinion. Cheese and bubbles !

Bottle disgorged July, 2007. That may have something to do with why I did not like this bottle that much. It had some good quality but it did seem a little tired. Also, the style was not my favorite but it seemed well made. I kept waiting for some initial funk to blow off and it to open up. The funk blew off but it did not open up. After 1.5 hours or so it started taking on a (non-mineral) metallic element that was not pleasant. I recognized hints of what this bottle could have been, but it seemed past it's prime and didn't show that well.

Lemon and tart apple + pear nose with notes of halva, almond and some greener vegetals. Quite lightbodied, crispy and smooth on the palate. 2008 disgorgement. Fragrant aromas are at once bright and restrained. Palate is youthfully primary and poppin' with high toned orchard fruits and blossoms. All of this is supported by low toasty notes and a bright mineral streak that is persistent through a long gripping finish.

Excellent! Dec 2008 disgorgement, M.V. blending from ’05 and ‘06. Premier Cru, a grower Champagne. Light nose of lemon and dough. Lemon, minerals, vanilla spice flavors fade into a long finish. Medium-bodied with beautiful acidity. There’s a complexity here on the palate and finish that’s difficult for me to label – something of an untamed farmy character. Not sure of the blending, but lots of Pinot Meunier in the mix. Nice dosage with a middle-of-the-road brut sweetness. Should show well above-average aging potential for a non-vintage. Excellent – you can just tell this isn’t a mass produced big house Champagne.

I've smelt this before. I wasn't impressed then and I'm not impressed now. Not that I need to be impressed, but I'd like to be entertained, amused, or even surprised. This is none of the above. Notes of red apple, honey, mineral, cherry and cocoa that dissipate over time. This lacks focus. I don't know the amount of Pinot in this cuve, but I suspect that is what I am reacting negatively to.

Moss, earth and evergreen with fall leaves. Or decomposing leaves. Sophisticated. Makes you think about wine. Apperently this is meant to be the "expression" of Cumieres, and not neccessairly of the Geoffroy hand in things. Had with the Millesime (see below) and you can sense Rene all the way through. Which is fun. On the other hand, this gives a country, or wild, or somethingness that I just can grasp. Uniqueness. The glass is chocolate and cherries later on. Really super ugly label that is hard to read.
These wines were tasted together: N.V. Marc Hébrart Champagne Premier Cru "Cuvee de Reserve", N.V. René Geoffroy Champagne Expression Brut, 2000 René Geoffroy Champagne Millésime, 1997 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Brut.

Delightful bottle. Doughy but not heavy or cloying. Not overly acidic or puckering. A great sipper, this would also be at home paired with relatively heavy food (e.g. not just oysters on the half shell). Disgorged Feb '07 ( I wish more producers were as transparent with disgorgement dates!).

Yeasty nose with squeezed lemon peel. Apple fruit and chalky rocks. Then a surprising pinot cherry burst. Unexpectedly flabby mid-palate, but the finish is beautiful. All sweet, lemony chalk. Longer aging on the lees would have been preferred, but for an entry level wine, this is very nice.

By the glass at Damas in Montreal. Nose is a bit funky, brioche-y almost smokey with a nice depth that is hard to describe but nice. Palate is lemon rinds, green almond, sightly yeasty finish. Very nice champagne, not exactly life-changing but it pairs amazingly well with middle eastern mezzes.

Red apple, spices and hints of chalk on the nose. The palate adds some yeast with supporting crisp acidity and a touch of chalkiness. The finish is a little short but this is a good Champagne and nice QPR.

If I could get more in the $30-$35 range I would buy it for parties and non-geek dinners. Otherwise I'll step up the price bracket for something a more interesting.

Delicious example of the July 2012 disgorgement. Was even better balanced than I remembered when last tasted in December. Vibrant without being excessive; good mix of green apple, pear and lemon. Didn't pick up much or any yeasty nose.

2009/2010 grapes. Disgorged September 2013. Lemon and citrus smell. Very aggressive and bold acidity with a structured and medium long finish. Perfect with fatty food due to the acidity. Highly recommended in this price range. Best around 6-8 degrees as it opened up with some fruit - mostly red apples.

2014 New Year's Day Tasting $100+ (Marietta, GA): Pale straw with fine bubbles; subtle nose, crisp tart apple, some creamy chalk, blueberry; rich, medium bodied, crisp apple, great tartness, very substantial, creamy on the finish in a salivating sort of way; well made and very good.

Creamy moussé fills with primary fruit, bitter grapefruity notes and almondy richness. Some baking spices and ginger. Long refreshing finish bringing fine dusty chalk character.
Pretty refreshing stuff and altogether rather lovely - though obviously very young. Disgorced in December 2010.

Light yellow color. Moderately sized bubbles. Apple, lemon, and doughy aromas. Medium-bodied citrus palate shows lemon, minerals, nuts, and a little spice. Good acidity. Medium-long finish. Good value. Not sure of the disgorgement here – but lacking some of the native barnyard funk I recall from the December 2008 disgorgement. A very enjoyable non-vintage overall.

Really super ugly label that is hard to read.

taste: really good medium+ acidity with excellent tones of lemon peels, dough, green apples, white fruits and some bits of figs
overall: the slight age on the disgorgement has really allowed this to come together. Can certainly go further as teh acidity is excellent

Yeasty nose with squeezed lemon peel. Apple fruit and chalky rocks. Then a surprising pinot cherry burst. Unexpectedly flabby mid-palate, but the finish is beautiful. All sweet, lemony chalk. April 2007 disgorgement. For what it's worth, drank the whole bottle by myself in one sitting. Wife came home during, neglected to mention how good this was so I wouldn't have to share.

Outstanding, particularly when you consider that this is the "entry level" wine. yeasty bread on the nose at first, but opens up to reveal some roast nuts and sour cherry juice. just an elegant and inviting nose, quite focused. the palate has more nuts, with a focused sea air citrus, flower blossom thing in the middle, just beautiful. i'm still tasting it this morning.
