Medium expressive nose displaying subtle pure red fruit, strawberry, cherry, rose, stem, Vosne spice, light caramel, smoke and earth. Medium concentration, finely layered pure red fruit, silky and cool, bright acidity, earthy mineral, and a medium to long pure red fruit driven finish with a hint of stem at the end. This is a bit lean and there is a hint of bitterness at the end. I prefer the nose to the palate. This is a classic, sightly leaner style.
Based on this dinner, the 21s remind me of the 08 vintage but perhaps slightly more concentrated. As such, the 21s may develop quicker than usual, similar to the 08s, which is not a bad thing as I love the exotic and expressive expression of the 08 DRCs. I found the wines to be a bit lean, and with the Echezeaux, GE and RSV, a bit bitter. Some say the wines show a bit of pyrazine. For my palate, they exhibit a pronounced stem note but not an obvious pyrazine.

What a lovely nose. Violets, red fruits and mineral. It is elegant and composed, built on perfume. There’s a pleasant pepper spice to the finish.
