  • This disastrous year does not promise a nice glass, I expected to find it undrinkable. However, my Friend FransS and me were surprise by the elegant nose and the noble tones with pencil and leather and also earthiness that came up. After that very thin. Much more joy than expected!

  • A dinner at Loek and Saskia; 6/7/2020-6/15/2020 (Amsterdam): I made a joke before we had dinner with Loek and Saskia: 'not again Lafite '72!', but what I never could have expected, was that Loek had a '65 in his cellar; an atrociously bad vintage, never loved as this wine too. Top shoulder level; the bouquet started with caramel and wood and later on came gentle fruit and a friendly freshness. The brown colour gained a bit vitality and some tannins gave a certain body.
What surprised most was the the friendly taste without hefty and old acidity; from start to finish a light, but friendly and quite balanced wine'89 points and 1 for surviving, but if you wish, 88 and 2 ☺.
