Coming back to this after 4 years for my 2nd bottle. Opened for 3 hours. Color is deep garnet. On the nose: Plum, cassis, espresso and leather. On the palate: Plum, dark chocolate, cassis, leather, sour cherry, a bit of baking spices and chalky tannins. Silky mouthfeel and Long finish. Just excellent Bordeaux. Still young at 8 years. A lot of life here.

Early Mar 2024, Rheingau Gourmet Festival, rarity diner “25 vintages of Chateau Montrose”: according to the sommelier double decanted for up to 6 hours!; deep purple color; intense nose of red and dark berries; like cherry juice in the mouth; soft, slightly lactic texture. 92+?/100
My neighbor was very excited about the Montrose 2015 and saw it at nearly the same quality level like the 2016 vintage. For me there is currently a solid quality difference, that’s why I awarded 2 points less for the Montrose 2015 . However, it reminds that wine tasting is a very subjective hobby.
This poured an opaque, glass-staining purple. Rich dark scents of creosote, licorice, and blackberry overlaid with a floral note and some smoldering embers and loamy earth lurking in the background. Very youthful and vibrant still with a deep core of concentrated dark primary fruit focused in the mid-palate and a long finish. Delicious wine with huge potential to the upside. But still early days even with an extended decant and best to wait another 5-10 years for this to really deliver the goods, IMO.

Dinner party, so I didn't have time to write notes on each wine. Remember this being very satisfying.
And I remember thinking that this needed a little time to breathe before serving
