The 2011 (L CP 11-01-09) was tasted alongside the 2009 (L MCP 0903). Both wines were decanted and served immediately, both were wonderful, silky, luxurious, and understated. Both show hints of barnyard, smooth bittersweet cherries and wild strawberries.
The 2011 is slightly lighter in weight, with just enough acid and tannin structure to accompany dinner, and a more mineral finish. Drink to 2027. 92.
The 2009 is a bit “more” in every way: slightly bigger, a bit sweeter, a bit more acid and tannin structure, and slightly spicier. Drink to 2029. 94.

Beautiful delicate bosky fruit on the nose. Fraises des bois, sour cherry compote and soft herbal note on the palate. Acid has softened as well as the tannins. Fine length. Gorgeous bottle. Yum!

Nose of strawberries and raspberries with floral notes and funky barnyard aromatics. Cherry and cranberry layers flow over damp earth and tea leaves followed by light but prominent tannins that feather the tongue, adding fleshy red fruit and minerals as the acidity flows over wet river stones. A graceful and thoughtful Beaujoulais.

Sometime you open a wine at just the right time...I'm usually a bit skeptical of aging gamay as it just doesn't seem to get better or more interesting...but as always with wine, being proven wrong is half the fun. Nose on this is intoxicating, tons of spices, red fruits on the palate with some earth, rounded finish with lots of acid, nice slightly slippery texture. Great stuff. Pop n pour out of glasvin prestige.

-- decanted approx. 1 hr before first taste -- -- tasted non-blind over 2.5 hrs on Day 1; revisited on Day 3 --
NOSE: DAY 1: ooooh, yeah! pleasantly tertiary, with some red fruit still hanging around; drank this alongside a bottle of the 2019, and the 8 year difference in age is making a huge difference; aged/baked fruit aromas; some pleasant earthy tones and a hint of funk.
BODY: ruby color of medium depth, with slight bricking throughout; medium-light to medium bodied.
TASTE: DAY 1: high acidity; no tannin; in a spot right now that strikes a pleasant primary-tertiary balance; little bit funky --- likely brett; fully relaxed, and seems to be in its prime window. Last glass was quite tasty on Day 3. Too bad this is my last bottle.

What a gorgeous bottle of wine. Last of a case and I would suggest that this wine has been beautiful at every age. The tension of youth is long gone with the tannins now fully resolved and the ripeness of the vintage shines through, quite boldly, in fact. Just delicious to drink by the sea on a beautiful warm day. It has been a pleasure to follow this wine over the past decade - if there are a handful of wines I buy every year, this is always one of them. I’ve chased so many different Beaujolais producers in the 10+ years since I bought this (which is always the fun, of course), but hard to find one that bests this wine, which is so consistent.

Simply stunning. Everything we could have hoped for from a bottle we purchased on release and cellared with the intent of opening on our 10th anniversary. Beautiful, integrated, complex - an exceptional example of what 2011 offers. I wish we had purchased more.
As per previous note - integration and mellowing of the fruit acids have occurred. Epic.

Just a beautiful bottle of wine. The nose was a mix of leathery, light tertiary notes, and big floral notes, giving it a great stinky-sweet appeal. On the palate you get a big punch of bright cherry, with some leathery and tobacco notes, but it really soars with heaps of sweet baking spices; cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and maybe a touch of white pepper, making it a great foil for Thanksgiving dinner. The tannins are totally integrated and pretty squarely medium, with medium plus acidity, making it both supple and lively. Surprisingly long on the finish. This is probably at the slight downside of its peak, as it was the slightest step behind a bottle I had a year or so back. I think it will hang on for a while, but if I had any more, they wouldn't make it to next summer. Really excited to see the '14's in a few years.

Served blind, and guesses were all over the place. As it has aged and brought some tertiary notes into view, thoughts ranged from Chateauneuf du Pape to Saumur. It's broad, brick red with cranberry fruits, a little bit of green whole cluster notes. Perfectly balanced acidity and stands to further improve. Really impressive.

Clean pure red fruits with subtle pepper notes mixed in. Palate is supple and soft and well integrated at this point. Nice mineral finish. Not particularly complex but transparent and pure with an ethereal feel.

This bottle was a lovely gift from our friend Tim who visited Omaha this past Spring. Our only instructions were to enjoy it together with food; challenge accepted! While I have experienced many wines produced by Foillard, this was my first with his “Cote du Py”. The wine pours a deep ruby color; slightly hazy in the glass. On the nose, at least initially, there are signs of some Brett giving a barnyard characteristic but that sort of blows off (or at least becomes less obvious) with cherries, earth, blackened poblano, underripe plum, and purple Sweet Tarts taking a more central role. On the palate, it’s mostly dark cherry and blackberries showing very little in the way of evolution. Medium+ acid, medium- tannin. The finish was super long. I was really impressed how young this wine was coming across; hardly an indication of anything that would indicate ten years of age. Yet more proof that Beaujolais can cellar quite gracefully. We loved how this paired with grilled rack of lamb and a light salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, garbanzo beans, mozzarella and prosciutto. Grazie Tim!
In a beautiful place. Pretty cherry fruit balanced by a brisk savory/spicy top note. Lovely stuff. Probably has more in the tank, but a joy to drink now.

Delicious. Pure black and bing cherries (without being candied at all) with a mild savoriness and an herbal tonic overlay. This is fully mature and perhaps even a bit better a few years ago, but still showing plenty of vigor and brightness. The only quibble is it’s a bit one note, but otherwise terrific gamay.
Having had this just the other night, I felt compelled to open another. My friend, a chef with 20+ yrs of experience asked (when served blind), "what's this!". My answer was, simply, "a chef's wine". He understood what I meant - with the right food, this is art. Even more wonderful after 30 minutes of air. Should drink at this level for another 4-5 years, no problem. highly recommended+

PnP that's evenly split between secondary and early tertiary characteristics. More delicate than most of the bottles consumed in the past few years, this is firmly in my wheelhouse as I find a balanced distribution of full-flavored fruit, elegance and length. Which is to say that while these can cellar for a few more years, I think I'll try and drink my remaining four bottles in the next two or so years. 13,0% abv., natural cork. recommended
Light red center. Much more herbal than typical Foillard with earthy, faded red fruit, and it lacks the texture that often sets this producer apart. This feels tired compared to a year ago.
It surprised me by noticeably perking up after sitting under cork overnight. More remaining life than I originally thought.

Still young, this is floral, fragrant and oozes with crunchy, vibrant fruit. Notes of cranberries, licorice pastilles and animal fur on the palate. Bright acidity. Stunning wine, has years to go.

Not your mother’s Beaujolais. Big gamay. But wow beautiful wine and it can age further. Nose has musty raspberry but with deeper leathery notes. Lots of red fruit on the palate. Cranberries, red fruit, but still something darker. Rocking now but I think this is great in ten too.
Always age your Cru Beaujolais! This is in a great place, where you have the early tertiary notes, leather, tobacco and a general funk, while still retaining the juicy red fruit. This is spicy, floral, vibrant and has a level of complexity that you would normally associate with Burgundy. Very fine tannins and medium+ acidity lend a nice structure to this. This was even more impressive than a very good bottle of this that I had towards the end of 2019. Drink or hold and buy every bottle that you manage to find in the secondary market. 93+.

Audozed 2 hours. Have been wanting to open one of these for a long time, and finally found the right moment. That said, it seems my wait has been rewarded, as, to my palate, this is very much in my preferred window - some sheen of youthful fruit balanced by lovely secondary attributes. Medium bodied, very precise, structured, elegant. I've 5 more left that I'll be drinking over the coming 5-7 years. Sheer joy. highly recommended

Ruby throughout. Black cherry, floral aromas. Surprisingly rich, even chocolatey, with the magical Foillard texture. Tart red fruit, excellent soil. There was more to this than I found recently in a 2011 Lapierre Cuvée Marcel, although I liked that wine as well.

The wine is soaring now. Spicy pork tenderloin was the perfect accompaniment. An example of why Cru Beaujolais is the most overlooked underrated red in the world. We also had a 2001 Clos-des-Papes CDP with this meal - the Foillard may not have been the better wine, but it was by far the better food match.

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours --
NOSE: carbonic; cherry; cherry Twizzlers; not funky; hint of spearmint/camphor.
BODY: cherry red color of medium depth with very slight bricking; medium-light bodied.
TASTE: medium+ to high acidity; a touch tannic; funky on the palate; zesty (carbonic) cherry; nice pair with pork loin chop (rub/marinade of ajwain seed, tomato juice oil, garlic, and smoked paprika) and lentils; 12.8% alc. not noticeable. Drinking well now; not sure there's much in the way of further upside here.

Beautifully integrated. Rasberries with a potpouri (def mispelled that) of other red fruits. Delicious example of a great vintage that probably couldve spent another few years in the cellar if need be but frankly I cannot imagine it being much better.

Deep ruby color. Nose is really spicy and floral and inviting. Fresh cherries and raspberries are mixed with violets, bay leaf, scorched earth, pepper, graphite, some meat and leather. Crisp and super zippy on the palate with dusty tannins. Clean and juicy with cherries and raspberries, the fruit is lovely, but it is matched with complex savory and spicy elements: potting soil, meat drippings, pepper, bay leaf, mint, tobacco. So pretty and expressive, especially on day two. This is aging nicely with a lot of evolution to go.

High toned nose of forrest floor, a touch of mint, violets, and cherry.
Lovely and seamless on the palate with a weight that floats across its length. Red fruited (mostly strawberries) with a hint of salinity, and a long crisp finish. Shows some fine grained tannin at the end but this is in a really appealing place right now, i see no need to hold (but it should last another 3-5 years).
A like the style in this vintage... very appealing quite sexy beaujolais.

Opened at 1:56pm. Initial nose of candied strawberries and slight funk. Cranberries for days on the palate. Lots of bright acid on this. A little crunchy red fruit. Finishes with mellow cherries and toned acids. 2:54 - richer red fruits on the nose. Still a lot of acid, but more integrated - less cranberry and more subtle fruit peeking out. Finishes tart with cherries and a little warmth. A little more tannic on the finish. 3:56 - light plums, figs in the nose. Cherries and acid on the tongue - mellowing now. Sour red fruits on the finish. Finish is loooong.
(1/1/19) - 10:34am - nose of brandied cherries. Palate of Cherries, crunchy red fruit, acidic. Finish is peppery, hot, long. 1:06pm - really opening up now! Nose of plum, purple fruits, blackberry wine, cherries, flowers. Still plenty of fruit acids, but less sharp and more integrated. Tannins peaking out behind the soft red fruits. Red plums. Flesh. Strawberries!!!! strawberries on the palate and the finish. Long finish. Best so far. probably indicates more time in the cellar is available. 7:04pm - excellent. Pretty much the same as 1:06 - holding steady. maybe a little fade? Different glass and a little of the sediment here so can't be sure. Still delicious.
Super enjoyable! Will check in on these in another year or two. Hoping for more integration and mellowing of the fruit acids.
This magnum is as good as Morgon gets, and in Foillard’s hands that is pretty special. The 2011, not otherwise a stellar vintage, just sang, with nicely supported fruit acids, a mellifluous delivery of plum, purple fruit and some distinctive dark cherry, with great food pairing characteristics. After some recent disappointments with the 2014s and 2015s, which will hopefully just need time, this was a most reassuring reminder of why he and a couple,of others are on top.

Popped and poured and shared with my wife over 90 minutes as that's how long a bottle typically lasts. It's hard to put a rating on this wine as it's just so darn good for what it is. Velvety smooth and densely flavored with minerals and fruit. I could drink this once a week.

Cru Beaujolais and Pizza Night (Brad's Place, St. Paul, MN): Medium dark red color. PNP, Brad's backup bottle. Drank a glass next to the '14 over 45 minutes. Well, here go with what turned out to be flight of the night. Both of these wines have lot of similarities. For me, they stand on higher ground. There is a purity here that you don't always see, but is a hallmark of great producers. This is evident of that and the wine making at Foillard. Gorgeous strawberry fruit on the nose, spices, oh yes the spices, white pepper, perfumed. The palate takes right off in the same direction, ripe strawberry, very refined and elegant, pretty tannins and quite long. As good as this is, the '14 takes it to an even higher level. 92+pts.

Popped and poured, deep garnet hue, clear throughout. Lovely perfume of dark cherry fruits, mixed florals, fresh root vegetables, toasted coriander seed and additional spices. Moderate body, silky smooth in mouth. Lively & filled with freshness, this shows an almost surprising amount of lush fruit on the palate, fruit-flavors which are tinged with herbaceous accents and a subtle impression of minerals. Tannins are nearly indiscernible on the 360° close. Quite beautiful, perfectly commemorates the precipice of transitioning into Autumn.
P&p, then drank over three days. On p&p, it was fairly primary, with some hints of herbs and stony minerality but not super expressive. Much improved with a few hours of air, and on days 2 and 3 - pungent stony earth and smoke, together with juicy cherries and dried herbs/flowers/lavender. Plenty of acidity, bordering on tart. A fair amount of tannic grip, but certainly manageable. Quite enjoyable. Has that Foillard seriousness. Seems like drink (with air) or hold.
transparent violet-ruby color. Nose slightly gamy dark fruits. Palate silky, fleshy cherries, ferric finish. Very interesting and in a good place for drinking now to my taste, good interest. 93 pts

Excellent, the wine feels alive in your mouth, it is so juicy but with a savory bite and substantial mouthfeel, it definitely shows a saline and mineral character, and you only notice the fine-grained tannins after the wine's other flavors have faded.

This is in an excellent place right now...still plenty of fruit, a bit dark and brooding but coupled with perfect acidity, baking spices, and the right amount of barny funk. Could be easily mistaken for a good burgundy. I can't wait to see how this continues to mature!

Surprised how little maturity this showed, still felt so young and fresh. Still tart and crunchy raspberry, cherry, mineral, licorice. Flowery. Typical Foillard velvety structure, however this bottle with more barnyard than what I typically find in the wines. I like them cleaner but this is still delightful and was only improving with air and with each glass really.

From the wine list at Rouge Tomate (last bottle). My first time with this wine and definitely not my last - really impressive. Also my first time trying a cru beaujolais with a few years of bottle age and I really like the result. The bright tart cherry notes of the gamay fruit are still there, but there is more depth, complexity and interest. The last glass after some time in the air is particularly delightful and burgundian in interest and flavor. Big thumbs up!

Powerful fruit aromas, great earth and mineral flavors, a full body (for a Beaujolais) with appetizing residual sweetness, all underpinned by great structure provided by the sappy acids and gentle but firm tannins: this wine is a winner!
A famous wine writer gave this a drinking window of 2013-2017, but that must have been a flawed bottle, for this wine has many great years ahead of it.
Foillard's wines are expensive, so not a good QPR from my point of view, but in absolute therms they are excellent, and this 2011 is a prime example.

This wine still needs some time in the bottle. Tannins on the finish need to round out and integrate. This medium body wine has excellent fruit and a nice balance of acidity and I feel the score may improve a bit with 3-5 more years. Tried over a two day period and on both days this Morgon had much in reserve that will be revealed hopefully by 2020. A classic style with good complexity on the finish. Elegant with a solid core of red fruit I am looking forward to open another in a few years. Young but very nice. Score 91 for now.

Colour: rich crimson red berry Bouquet: classic floral, ripe raspberry and red berries, strong mineral character/baking spices, gamey Palate: similar to bouquet, dark cherries, quite fruity, but relatively full bodied, herbs especially sage, forest floor, vegetal characters, very long finish, with soft dusty tannins and great balance, with classic silky texture. Decanted now for 2h. Dark berries, herbs, earth, and a hint of sous bois (almost pinotesque) P: Palate follows with a bit of more green herbs, minerals, umami, good grippy tannins on midpalate. F: Mildly bitter herbs, earth, tar, fruit on a long lingering finish. Starting to get closer to pinot or pinoter as they say. Less intense than in youth, but more suave and elegant with added layers of complexity as pinoter occurs. Basically, just kept on sipping and sipping and now, 3/4 bottle is gone. Just enjoyable.

This threw a lot of sediment--be mindful. Great aromatics with sea breeze and pure candied red fruits. Palate is a great mix of blue and red fruits, and has smoothed out considerably from my last bottle 17mos ago. Lengthy chalky finish. In a good spot, still fresh, but not nearly as tart as last year.

This has really opened up from a year ago, and overall, progressed nicely over the past two years. Cloudy violet color. Nose is musty, with dark, bitter cherries, candied strawberries, wild herbs, and gobs of crushed rock. It smells like this poured straight from a deep well spring. The medium, compact palate brings more dark cherries, bitters, cloves, cinnamon, a puckery sour note, and candied red fruit. The finish is dusty but the tannins are increasingly refined and shaping out. I still think this will be best in a few years, but I could not resist. Drink 2016-2021.

Just delightful. And months later, now taking on a more Burgundian profile. Foilarad really gets extraction, even viscosity, that brambly fuller expression of red fruits than most--at least in this bottling. And no black pepper in this bottle.
And once again, the 2011s present a quandry-- excellent, non tannic drinking now with obvious complexity awaiting in years. His 2009s are still young. At cellar temp, this wine is tough to resist while waiting for the 2012,2013 and 2009s.

What a nice experience: full, rich dark lingonberry, plum, blackberry and gamay gamey notes, with sophisticated wine making , clearly from old vines. Again, no purple Beaujolais fruit.
I like the 11's because , like Mosel riesligs, they are redolent with fruit and have enough acidity, while expressing without doubt that complexity awaits with more aging. And the Cote du Py adds refinement not in the regular bottling.

Easily the best Gamay I had so far. Bouquet of sour cherries, earthines, iron and some pepper. This is a hypothetical blend between a northern rhone syrah and a Volnay. Raid Len's Cellar #5: Stalk, spice and funk with some raspberry as well. The acidity is high and drives the wine but on the back palate it feels a little raspy, with the fruit not really holding up to a little bitter herbalness.

Very expressive. Red fruits: Cherry, Kirsch, gamey, grassy/ herbs, earthy (farmyard notes). Medium body, intensity and length. Good structure with medium tannin. Tried it in a blind tasting. Many people think it's a Pinot. Yet its gamey and earthy notes + better tannin structure really differentiate it from Pinot. I can finally get it (a more serious of Gamay) after a few trials. Still very youthful. Curious how it will taste like when it reaches adolescent stage.

Dark, lightly translucent red color with a faint purplish hue. Very wild, fragrant and expressive nose with rustic barnyard character, bitter orange zest, plummy dark fruit, some cooling herbal notes reminding me of mint, light perfumed touch of wild flowers, a little bit of tart cranberry and a sweet nuance of blueberries. The wine is bone-dry and smooth, yet pretty tightly-knit on the palate with flavors of stony minerality, tangy dark berries, a little bit of sour plum, a hint of black raspberry and a touch of sappy greenness. The structure is quite impressive with high acidity and light, yet pretty firm and textural tannins. The finish is somewhat tannic, very mineral and somewhat taut with angular flavors of sour dark plums, chokeberries, a little bit of sappy fruit and a hint of blackcurrant.
A dead-serious and painfully young Cru Beaujolais with impressive structure and texture. Still a baby now, this has still mileage left to go for at least a decade, even more. Very impressive effort, but there is no point in opening these wines for years - the other, lesser Beaujolais wines are for that! Expect the score go up as the wine ages. Highly recommended.

Another great showing. Red fruit, earth, damp undergrowth and a pleasant, minerally-driven finish. The mouth watering acidity has no sharp edges and combined with the approachable, lithe tannins, screams drink me now. Lovely distinctiveness and purity.

A private lunch (Restaurant Fera, Hotel Claridge's, London, UK): On the edge of reason. It is wine, but only just. Flowers and cherry fruit, roasted aromas, but also strong notes of grape skins and pips, granite minerality, sève, green melon and strawberry, spice, excellent length. Fascinating wine.

A nice nose of fruit, some floral notes and sweet liquorice. There's an initial hit of sweet cherry fruit, that finishes dry. It's very good. 90 points

Slightly cloudy red. This bottle was marked by brett which calmed down as it opened. Faded roses as in prior bottles. Muddled red fruit, even some blood orange with some herbs. Complex and lively in the mouth with some accompanying light sappiness. Certainly a cleaner impression than it initially made.

Ren fruktig doft med körsbär, hallon hållet. Smaken är inte lika bärig sen sist och mer utmejslad. Mineraliteten ger lite sälta i eftersmaken. Allt som allt väldigt gott och en bra matchning till majskycklingen med skysås och potatismos med tryffelsmör.

On pouring,a flash of gamay fruit which, quickly recede. With air the noise quickly develops south ripe aromas of cherry and raspberry, with a lick of leather. The palate is concentrated and sweet, with deep red fruits, leather and soft chalky minerality. The finish is long, tannins soft. Couldn't ask for much more really, except more bottles.

Deep bright purple cherry red. A cherry and crushed raspberry nose. Bright and vibrant. Plenty of fruit crunch, full, but good acidity to balance. A cheerful drink. Does just what one wants from a good Beaujolais. Lovely. Holds well overnight and almost better on day two - fruit seems purer and the line better. ****

I sort of liked this, having read so many good things about foillard in the past I was expecting a bit more 'croquant' and not as much barnyard brett. The texture and length were exemplary, the flavours were lacking in many ways.

Had the typical Foillard aromas of wet leaves, earth, and mushrooms. The palate was a bit cool (just pulled from the cellar) but already had nice berry and floral notes. Looking forward to this warming up a bit more, but 2011 in Beaujolais is a real great vintage. Yum.

And Time Stood Still. On night 2, no degradation of either quality or flavor. Had just enough left for a third night pour. I expected a falling off. Was I wrong! I don't know what's in store for the adventurous who can wait until 2025(!!?!). I say, drink it now.

Opened for 90-miutes. Poured a little straight from bottle. Somewhat thin with a bit of funk. Thrn poured through a Vinturi. It worked beautifully. Fruit emerged gracefully - no explosion. Funk well integrated into the mix. Smooth going down and a modest but pleasant finish. Wonderful wine!
Typically gorgeous Foillard nose, with lovely floral, pine, and sweet berry aromas. Silky mouthfeel, with plenty of sappy fruits, but also some earthy, iron-inflected minerality and ample acidity to keep it fresh and wonderful with dinner.

TASTE; 12.8% alc. is hidden; a bit grapey; pleasant leathery aspect; mostly dark-fruited; a touch floral and savory; medium to medium+ acidity; no tannin (or very little). Excellent.

Man this better than I expected. Floral cherry pit, strawberry, and loam on the nose. Pure red fruits really leap up from the palate--cranberry, cherry, a little bramble-- still a little tart but there's excellent depth purity to the fruit. Steely moderate to long finish. Could still use a little time but delicious now. 91-92

This wine continues to rock it! Wonderful pure cherry aroma, intermixed with a hint of leather. Medium-light to medium bodied on the palate. Very fresh, with nice acidity. Alcohol is not noticeable. Pleasant black cherry flavor, with noticeable leather in the background. Paired nicely with a beef roast and root vegetables. Consistent with previous bottles. So hard to stay away from this wine, even though I'm sure it will age nicely over the short to medium term.

This wine was all about the second day. Closed and sullen on day one with alcohol and acid sticking out (me: "I'm never buying Foillard again!") Second day, fresh strawberry and cherry with a distinct vein of acid and smooth, integrated tannins. Only nitpick is a somewhat short finish. Lovely, easy drinking wine with sufficient complexity to keep one's interest. Good on its own and with food.

Opened up after a few hours in the decanter, dry red fruit nose with some floral and gamey undertones. Vibrant palate, some dark and tart cherries, strawberry and sweet raspberry fruit with moderate acidity providing a solid balance. There's a density to the fruit that should better integrate with a bit more time. Good stuff.

Decanted 1.5 hours prior to dinner of ginger, peanut, soy pork and broccoli noodle stir fry. This is a complex, rustic wine that brings loads of puckery bitterness against a backdrop of sweet and sour fruit. Violet, ruby, cloudy, color. Nose brings musty funk, moldy fruit, bitter black licorice, tart cherries, menthol, spicy herbs, and a hint of banana. Concentrated palate brings a surge of bitters framed by fresh, green strawberries, raspberries, bananas, ripe cherries, and salty olives. This leads into a tart finish of green apples, kiwi, and vermouth that is still unresolved and disjointed. This wine actually over-powered our dinner selection so would suggest something more rich. But overall, a great wine that needs a few more years. Drink 2016 - 2026.
Aromatically more "Foillard-like" than the past few vintages, at least according to my possibly faulty memory. Gamay fruit, sure, but also that other thing I've always assumed to be "Py." Flavors, though, are much simpler than I recall them being back in the '94-'04 period, again perhaps the product of an inaccurate series of recollections. What's odd is that I always used to prefer Foillard to Lapierre and now it's exactly the opposite.

- Ruby color with medium forming legs and aromas of raspberry, strawberry and rose. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of cherry, strawberry and strawberry jam with a medium body. Round texture with a medium finish - A little bit disappointed compare to its compelling 2010 vintage. May be due to bottle shock, it was somewhat not balanced and overly jammy.

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted non-blind over two days --
NOSE: DAY 1: grapey; a bit savory and simple; ripe fruit. DAY 2: nice high-toned element --- tart, juicy red berries --- pomegranate.
BODY: black cherry color of medium-light to medium depth; medium-light bodied.
TASTE: DAY 1: grapey; fresh; strong leather note (brett?); 12.8% alc. not noticeable. DAY 2: fine tannins; acidity is on the high side; leather note not as strong as yesterday; pleasant garrigue aspect; actually better today than yesterday. The proprietor of my local wine store encouraged me to try this after I told him I don’t like Beaujolais. Obviously, I’d simply never had good Beaujolais prior to this, because I think this wine is some kind of stunning! Probably my QPR of the year @$27, and now I have a new type of wine to explore. Gut impression score: 91 – 93.

Drank from Magnum. Raspberries and cherries. There's was just a bit of tannin. Clean wine. Lacking some earthiness or minerality, which made it seem a bit simple. I don't have much experience with this wine so maybe it just needs a bit of time, but this bottle was a somewhat disappointing for the price.

My second bottle since mid-June, 2013. had expected (unrealistically) greater integration by now. With the passage of another 2-3-years, its nascent glory will become manifest.
At this time, a seriously delightful mouthfull if a somewhat unruly complexity, like a young very talented athlete, who, despite his present imperfect coordination, holds great promise. Your patience will be rewarded.

I haven't been comprehensive, but of the 11s I've tasted (Lapierre, Thivin, Coudert, Chamonard, Brun), this is easily the most complete. It has a level of concentration that is quite remarkable for the vintage, and while there's plenty of tannin the tannin is tannin is fleshy and smooth, and there's great acidity to balance the rich berry and pomegranate flavors that are complicated by ginger and spice notes (perhaps slightly reductive). I like this better than the Corcelette so far, which I remember being slightly green. Drinks really well now but I could see it improving if it can shed the slight reduction and the tannins mellow.

Clear medium red. Flowers and sour red fruits. Light, incisive tart fruit and crystallized flowers and herbs with a whiplash of a finish that is just full of licorice and even some graphite. So much less juicy and ripe than the '09, but more than enough fruit, just classically zingy Gamay. Great complexity for the genre.

BODY: medium bodied; blood red color of medium to medium-deep depth; medium-light bodied
TASTE: oooh … this is nice! Fruity, with a nice leather streak beneath it all; raisins and prunes, but this doesn’t come across as overripe; “bigger” than I was expecting; strong leather note; good acidity; alcohol is not noticeable; almost no tannins; very primary; somewhat simple; well-balanced; fruit did darken over the course of four hours; nice now, but I can imagine this improving with short to mid-term cellaring.

The first day it was mouldy, juicy, a bit smoky and really fresh. The second day nose is more open with notes of wet mould, moss, animal skin and forest. Also some red meat, mushrooms and black berries. Taste is juicy and savory. Pleasant structure is very balanced between some rather soft tannins and lasting acidity. Leaves the mouth really fresh and willing to gulp some more. Delicious!

Floral with red fruits like cherry and strawberries permeate from the glass. The sensation across the palate is sensual, smooth and long with the Fruit, Acid and tannin in balance. Decanted and started drinking immediately. Heady aroma of tart red fruit, potting soil, bread crust, and smoke. Tastes like a delicious mix of berries, earth and vegetation, a bit savory. Excellent acidity, refreshing and at the same time has depth. Fairly long finish of berries and sap with a bit of soot/smoke. Surprisingly, doesn't seem to change much over the course of 3 hours, besides a slight funk blowing off. In any case, good stuff.

Red fruits dominate this 2011 CdP, which offers a lovely expression of red berries and cherry, complimented by some subtle vegetal characters, damp clay, moss and a nice minerally streak. Acids are singing - crunchy and giving the wine nice focus and length. Tannins are refined and elegant. Excellent stuff.

Mostly Rieslings: A young Morgon, but it's showing very well. Surprisingly expressive aromas of berry compote, roses, violets and pepper. Fine tannins on the palate, balanced by ripe red fruit and snappy acid. Flavors of berry compote and highlighted by iron and graphite. Equally bright and ripe, this wine's a joy to drink. Lovely wine, but it doesn't seem to be as compelling as the 2010 at this stage. There is ripe fruit and a lot of fine grained tannin, a strong mineral streak too. It could be that it is too tightly wound to show well, but I think it just isn't as complete of a wine as the 2010.
On day 2 it shows more tannin and very mineral. Seems like some cellar time is in order.

Drink to 2029. 94.

Grazie Tim!

PnP that's evenly split between secondary and early tertiary characteristics. More delicate than most of the bottles consumed in the past few years, this is firmly in my wheelhouse as I find a balanced distribution of full-flavored fruit, elegance and length.

Bright and crystalline carmine color.

On the palate still tight and youthful with lots af acidity. Fascinating wine and definitly a reason to learn more about beaujolais and Morgon in detail.

Had the second bottle, exactly a year later, and though still rugged, the palate has filled out and the finish is more resolved and refined. Overall, it still needs more time but very consistent with last year's tasting notes.

Lovely nose - overripe strawberries, leather and something "earthy". Hint of flowers.
Round and juicy mouthfeel with an inviting fruity character. Excellent balance, plenty of acid. Good intensity.
Finish is nicely acidic also, lightly tannic. Very good length.

Bright red fruits with pronounced acidity. A wine that goes very well with itself. A pleasure to drink.

Gorgeous wine. Seductive nose. Vibrant red fruits on the palate. Needs a couple years to peak but so good right now. Fantastic.

This is fine and floral with pristine red fruit aromas. Lacy in the mouth. A wine that builds right through the palate with all sorts of engaging floral, mineral and fruit flavours. Crisp and detailed with cherry stone flavours that are left in your mouth once swallowed. Beautiful poise and just about the best CdP since the remarkable 07 for mine.

I'll hold off on trying another bottle for a year or so, but this is really good stuff.

From memory. Nicely proportioned although definitely midweight. Juicy red fruits with some profoundness. I think it might need more time for things to integrate and open up. Will open the next bottle in a couple of years.

Kind of just a wild fruit smash, like a big fruit cocktail. Needed more cellar time.

nez sur les petits fruits rouges, subtil et complexe, bouche en demi corps avec une belle finale acidulée, c'est le genre de millésime que j'aime dans la côte du py, qui m'a rappelé un peu le 2007

Very silky and with great drive/length, tart red fruits and a slightly high-toned, floral nose with a twang indicative of brett, but at least they seem to have a really pretty strain of brett!

Delicious Beaujolais with a wonderful fruity palate and a bit of a spicy finish. Should benefit from a couple of years in the cellar.

Quite nice, but doesn't seem as nice as 2010 right now. Let's revisit in couple years, because there are some nice elements to make the wine better.

Fantastisk beaujolais; stram, mørk og rik. Topp match til grillet entrecote med bearnaise og poteter.

Highly aromatic forest fruit nose with a touch of flint and celery.
Mid-weight and almost chewy palate with refreshing acidity and pure fruit. Long minerally finish.
Beautiful.

Light translucent purple. Herbs and high toned red fruit aromas. Just unbelievably smooth texture for Gamay, positively silky. Good core of blacker fruit than the nose suggests and licorice. Great expansion of florality in the mouth. This is achingly good, especially for the vintage.
