Pale garnet colour. Medium and developing nose with red cherry, ripe strawberry, orange peel, forest floor, tobacco, leather, licorice, wet leaves, anise and rose petals. Medium taste of ripe strawberry, red cherry, forest floor, tobacco, licorice, orange peel, anise and leather. Long and dry finish. High acidity. High tannins. Medium body. A very good Barbaresco that is much less developed than the previous bottle. Drink now or over the next five years. Goes well with beef or lamb.

Probably the best Barbaresco I had from this house (I have not yet opened the 2016). Very fruity in all aspects. Typical light ruby color. In the nose roses and cherries. Smooth, full bodied palate. Harmonious and balanced. Ripe silky tannins.

I’m impressed by the perfect balanced acid and tannins and overall structure which feels feminine and masculine in the same way. Finishes with discrete dusty notes. Good lenght.

Ruby red, very closed and tight over the course of 3-4 hours. Put in the fridge and the next day it’s really opened up. Cherries, moist earth, floral notes on the nose. Medium body, great balance, flavors follow the nose, medium finish. Excellent.
Medium tawny colour. Medium and developing nose with red cherry, ripe strawberry, raisin, prune, forest floor, wet leaves, tobacco, leather, mushrooms, tar, licorice, orange peel, anise and hazelnut. Medium taste of ripe strawberry, strawberry jam, raisin, prune, forest floor, wet leaves, tobacco, leather, mushrooms, licorice, tar, orange peel and hazelnuts. Long and dry finish. High acidity. High tannins. Full body. A very good and well matured Barbaresco that is surprisingly mature. Drink now. Beef, game, lamb.

Excellent as always and one of the best QPRs anywhere. Drank side by side with a 2014 Pora and Rio Sordo. Although not the same vintage, wanted some comparison given the 2x price point of the reservas. Scored them all 93-94 but frankly the standard bottling is basically just as good and half the price so highly recommend. Overall, this is a top notch producer with excellent product all around.

From 75cl, tight-fitting, perfect cork. Decanted 1 hour, continued to improve in glass. Bright redcurrant/cherry/oak aromatics; grippy tannins very present from the entry to the finish; considerable dried cranberry concentration on the mid-palate—this is one which is really worth holding and sloshing around in the mouth to release the retronasal, herbal aromatic action. Furry tannic finish. The best is clearly yet to come, perhaps in about 3-5 years when the tannins have had more of a chance to integrate. 90P(+)

From magnum. Really pretty, translucent Nebbiolo fruit. Silky mouthfeel. Not the best example of this wine in that it comes across as rather simple. But that said, it is easy to enjoy. It just drinks more like a Langhe Nebbiolo than a Barbaresco, IMHO. I went too deep on this.
Maybe doesn't have the concentration of the greater vintages, but a nice Barbaresco. Red fruited with a little menthol with crisp acidity. Tannins a bit rough around the edges. Unclear if this will get better with age.

Another Corked bottle. I know it can be random, but I get a lot of corked Produtorri from a run of vintages (12-15) I bought at Total Wine a while back. The failure rate has been frustrating.

Excellent. 1 hour decant and then 1.5 hours of additional air over dinner during which it kept evolving. Lots of life left but showing well right now as others have stated. Rose, cherry, great acid profile and good tannin backbone. Just delicious!

2015 Piemonte Mini Horizontal (Omaha, NE): Popped and poured; consumed over a three hour period. No formal notes. The 2015 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco pours a deeper garnet color with a translucent core. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. No signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is currently bursting with red and dark fruits: blackberries, Luxardo cherry, pomegranate, green herbs, red flowers, green herbs, and tar. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. The notes on the nose are confirmed. The finish is long and savory. Really compelling stuff in the context of the night. I think the 2015’s are drinking so well right now. Unfortunately, this is my last bottle of the “classico” but I’ll be on the hunt for more if I can score at a good price. Drink now if you’re going to allow for some evolution in the glass or enjoy through 2035.

Slow ox in bottle at recommendation of somm which I think was mistake. Definitely Nebbiolo on nose and palate, this young, fruity wine requires air. Med- body, hints of a complexity yet to reveal itself. Happy to try it, equally happy to have various riservas quietly aging in the cellar. Perhaps revisit in some years.
Very Good++, I may be underrating a bit, from memory dark cherry, some balsamic?, fennel?, ripe but not too much so. Drinks pretty well on PnP and gains complexity with air. Not sure about the drinking window out to 2032 - I'd go closer to 2028.

First taste of the 2015 vintage. Still young to my taste. Decanted 1 hour. Needs a lot of air at this stage. 1 hour not enough. Dark brick red color. Lots of fruit, cherries on the palate. Powerfull tannins. Will wait another 2 years for the next bottle.

This took about 2 hours to open, after which it showed nice ripe red fruits, dry earth and gravel, some floral hints on the nose. Medium-full bodied, excellent balance, medium long finish. Hints of beginning complexity. Drinking much better than the last bottle a few years ago, this is starting to come into its own. Excellent.

I always get a lot of red fruit notes mixed with gravel and stone accents when I drink these. The 2015 vintage of the base Produttori is drinking well now and drinks better with air. These are always good drinkers that mix tannin and fruit well while remaining lighter body so they don’t wear your out your palette. This remains one of the better QPRs around.

Savory and sanguine, with notes of barnyard, iron, and tobacco leaf accenting the primary flavors of cherry and red currant. A bit floral too, and with lively acidity keeping it moving.

Now I bet you’re thinking of, well, betting, but you’d be wrong. Today’s title is actually referencing the wine being reviewed and the fact that it revolves around a consortium of just over 50 wine growers that come together to make this and other wines.
The winery in question produces around 45,000 cases a year and is singular in its grape; Nebbiolo from the area of Barbaresco and delineates the wines between Barbaresco (50%), single vineyard Barbarescos (30%), and Nebbiolo Langhe (20%).
Today’s wine is the:
Produttori del Barbaresco “Barbaresco” 2015
Since its formation in 1958, Produttori del Barbaresco has stood the test of time and has maintained its desire to make only outstanding Barbarescos. Controlling 250 of the 1,700 total acres in the Barbaresco D.O.C.G. appellation, the consortium produces this wine as well as 9 other single-vineyard wines, which are produced only in the best years.
This wine is no stranger to me, having reviewed the 2016 vintage back in March 2020, and insuring it was on the shelves of the wine shop even before then. Having arranged to make my homemade pasta sauce for the evening’s meal, I knew that this would be an ideal wine. The four 93 Point reviews, would announce the certainty of this wine being a big hit.
From the start, with its dark cherry fruit along with a touch of oak (the wine seeing 24 months in large oak casks – most likely neutral oak), the brightness of the wine shows through aided by the tannins that have softened over the years. The wine culminates in a long, satisfying finish with just a touch of spice.
No worries about the vintage, the string of outstanding ratings assures you that the wine retains its quality year after year. For those looking for a wine slightly more lush, bold, and beautiful, may I suggest any of their single-vineyard wines? I’m sure you enjoy it, in fact, I’d be willing to make a 50-to-1 bet on it!
Cheers

Whoa...to my palate, these are drinking way better than they were upon release. Three years ago, I thought they drank okay...but seemed a little disjointed and wasn't really sure where it was going. This is in contrast to almost every vintage in the last 10 years which seemed to be very obvious where each were headed. Well, everything has come together really nicely and I think these are banging right now. This is a more round version of Produttori's "classico" with the 2015 vintage no-doubt contributing to its fleshiness. The acid and tannin you want and expect are well represented. A wonderfully balanced wine. I only swooped up one of the Riserva's (Montestefano) when they were released and sort of wonder if I overlooked 2015. Oh well, gonna enjoy what I have! Drink now (no decant) and through the next 10-15 years, no cap. An absolutely killer pairing with Morgan Ranch Wagyu Picanha...

Decanted 3.5 hrs. This had opened up fairly well by the time it was poured, showing attractive and typical cherry and warm earth aromas. The palate is medium bodied and broad, with a silky texture. This is fresh but a little lower in acid than the 2016. Tannins are still prominent, though the decant helped integrate them. To me this is 3-5 years from early maturity.

Another outstanding vintage of Produttori's Barbaresco. Still seems on the young side and needs some development. Nose is earthy and menthol-y. Palate is medium body, has real depth from the dark nebbiolo fruit giving a combination of brightness with a darkness of forest floor. Significant acid. Modest tannins.

I just do not get along with this right now. Techical score higher than enjoyment score - the wine is well made. I do not think drinking this within 5 yrs is a smart move.
Decanted 1 hour. Dark, ripe fruit - the warmth of the vintage shows. Tannins still show, and this will probably be better with a bit more age, but drinks okay now with some air. This is a very well made wine and great for the price but I do prefer the profile of the '16 and '17. A-
This is showing better than around 1 year ago, the tannins are starting to integrate nicely, the fruit is starting to shine through the savoury, earthy notes that were more apparent 12 months ago. A more 'savoury' vintage than say 2016, yet with plenty to enjoy. I prefer the 2016 vintage, yet understand why many would enjoy this. I can only see this improving over the next 10-15 years.

👃When decanted you get hit with that lovely liquorice nebbiolo posesses, creamy liquorice in this case. Red berries too. Its as if the comparatively light barbaresco body makes itself known on the nose too.
👅High- acidity, oak, forest floor (sous bois 🤫), lighter body, tobacco. The pick up in alcohol is noticeable. I find that there is tannins but in a quite enjoyable way - then again im always for drinking younger rather then older 🌝. I'm on board with cellaring both don't think there's any shame in drinking now.
Enjoyed with Ossobuco 🥩

The nose is a bit medicinal and the tannins and acid are high. There is a very pronounced bitter herb/astringent flavor that is overpowering the wine right now. Will let it sit overnight and try again tomorrow.
On night two, it was a little bit better. That bitter note wasn’t quite as prevalent, but was definitely still there. Hoping this is just an off bottle.

Lovely floral nose - I could spot some hints of lovely lift from the VA even with Covid, very Italian nose. Some tannins and heat on the finish. Drinking well surprisingly as previous notes suggested this was shut down, faded a little on the second day.

Similar to previous note this felt rather hot, and oxidised from aging in wood - not full of complex fruit, IMO. Think i prefer my Nebbiolo a little fresher, cleaner - or much heavier. Maybe, these Pdb just arent fitted to my palate. That being said, i think some rest will do these bottles good. Acid is definately high, very noticeable. Next bottle after 2024. Id call it a hold.

So clearly 2015 is a good wine, but 2016 is just at an all new level, this shows more of a savoury herbs, dried florals, sour cherry, cola, bark, along with grippy tannins, bright acidity and a dry finish. I have 3 bottles left, and I just don’t see this touching these bottles for a while.92 due to the quality but in my eyes a huge step behind the 2016

Its not bad, but it's not good either. First day the tannin will linger around your tongue for a minute. It's not complex just grippy. If you like rubbing leather for days this it your tea. It took 4 days for tannins to settle and 5 days to make this an average wine with floral nose and some dark fruit on palette. 91 after 5 days is an 88 because waiting 3 days for average is not very eventful. This review is to express the wine as it is now. It's purpose is not to indicate and project how much better it can become.
I think this is shut down or just coming out. Gave very little besides cherries on 1st day - but lots of em. 2nd day some depth and dirt had developed, and it was more than just a red-fruited Langhe Nebbiolo. My first pdb base Barbaresco. Feels like a big step down from the Riservas. Hold.
Very nice. Lighter color than usual and more of a fruit forward aroma. A little shallow but needs some time to open up. Leaving the rest a few years to see how it shapes up.

A little bit of variation to this bottle, or the development showing, quite a lot of tar, anise, allspice, little dark cherry, light mid-palate, little short for now, but certainly more savory and serious vs the 2016....maybe a phase?

We drink this often. Mostly as an everyday wine (it's at the upper end of what we consider an "everyday wine"!) but sometimes also when we have guests (it's at the lower end of what we serve our guests!). You can drink this young but are better off decanting it for 2-3 hours. You get red fruits if you PnP and moves to dark fruit after 2-3 hour decant. Some hints of earth as well. Nice wine. Decent QPR. Would be better with a few years of age but we drink them young (they don't last long in our cellar). 2015 is a great year. We prefer it to the 2016 and 2017 but all years are very good. Note: I prefer old world wines (not fruit bombs). If you prefer fruit bomb new world wines, you may be disappointed with this wine.

This pours quite nice and light in the glass. Light Ruby at the core with just a touch of light bricking with some onion skin at the rim. The nose is unfurls beautifully over the course of an hour showing bright spiced red cherry, dried orange peel, saline, red plum, and light spice notes. The palate keeps the tannins under control. Medium plus tannin and medium acid give this a fresh but youthful impression. In my view this is a classic Piedmont Nebbiolo expression that is drinking surprisingly well right now, with a bright future ahead. The supposed ripeness of the vintage doesn't seem to detract here at all, and if anything has perhaps helped to provide some early accessibility.

One of my absolute favorites. I cherish the moment of having a bottle once or twice a year. Some would mistake this for appearing to be light but they would be sorely mistaken. Powerful truffle, mushroom and rose petal like aromas. Wax, leather and dried plums as well. Flavors of dried red fruits, tar, tobacco, and baking spice. Full bodied once it opens up and reveals its true colors. Brimming acidity with a long yet powerful spicy finish. There is truly no grape that can quite express itself like Nebbiolo. Treat yourself to some high class Barbaresco for a reasonable price from a solid producer.
First from a new shipment recently purchased. Solid wine, as expected. Dark fruit, still a bit austere with some acid and tannin. The more air the better but with 2 hours of air this is a nice food wine now and will improve from here. A-

Perfect pizza wine four hours decanted. Vicolo Corn Meal Goat Cheese Pizza with our fresh ingredients.
The body is round, rich & lush. The structure, tension, balance & finish still need 3-5 years plus years to truly shine. Slightly sweet & sour & floral, dark cherries, ripe blueberries, dark plum, black raspberries, dark, slightly, sweet tarriness, anise, lead pencil, dry stone, dry clay, dark spice, limestone, crushed, dry rocks, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, vanillin, fresh & dry tobacco, dry twigs, tree sap, dry herbs, savory meats, touch of pepper with candied & withering; dark, red, purple & some blue flowers framed in lavender & violets. Very good cool stream river acidity. The finish is still youthful (even decanted 4 plus hours) well balanced fruit & earth, ripe, juicy, elegant & it persists endlessly.
Even better in 3-5 years.
Produttori at the time we were there in the fall of 2015 was the 3rd largest European Co-op. It is located at the top of the town of Barbaresco, right under the church. We tasted there before going into Gaja down the street. Then, onto one of the best Michelin starred restaurants that is adjacent to Gaja we’ve had. 70 Euros lunch for two. The food was outstanding & rarely had that level of service.

Decanted 2.5 hours. This is dark and rich, with a lot of ripe fruit and supporting tannin. I have a lingering concern about 2015s - both this as well as some others like the Felsina Fonalloro, that some bottles have had a roasted element to them that I do not enjoy. Given the heat of the vintage I think it is valid concern, but not universal (2015 Piancornello Brunello has not showed that and even some previous bottles of Produttori and Felsina did not. So not a consistent issue, more of an occasional worry). A-

A traditionalist Barbaresco, fermented in stainless steel tanks and macerated with the skins for 25-30 days. This bottle is from Lot 18.080, ie. the wine is bottled in mid-March 2018, after about two and half years of aging in large botti casks. 14,5% alcohol. Decanted for 1½ hours. Tasted in Produttori del Barbaresco 2016-1970 vertical.
Translucent, luminous ruby-red color with a subtly developed brick-red hue. Very off-putting, musty nose that reminds me of a mouldy earth cellar. Surprisingly, the taste is almost clean with no noticeable off-flavors, but, alas, no noticeable fruit either.
Ruby color. Nose of red fruit. Light medium body. Bold acidity and tannins. Flavors of cranberry and strawberry with, indeed, a touch of sage. Still on the young side. Probably needs another 2 years before truly being in it's drinking window.

Fine Wines SG - Nebbiolo BYOB (Praelum Wine Bistro): Pale ruby. Nose seems to be slightly subdued, but shows much more on the palate. Tannins were high, but linear and clean, with bright cherry fruits of medium ripeness, as well as the classic roses and tar. With that clean palate, it surprising led to a long persistent finish. Light and young looking, nice nose of fruit [cherry and pomegranate] with a bit of leather and wood noted as well. Very nice on the palette, dry tannins, more of the nice fruit and nice acidity. Such a pure, detailed and complex nose on this one, dark cherries, river stones, sandalwood, spice, but predominantly very complex and alluring pipe tobacco scents. Whilst still completely gluggable the very concentrated palate is beginning to shut down and become dominated by the tannins. This is delightful.

4 hrs air. Second time around with this wine, this time with enough air to make it sing. And sing it did, with a well balanced nose of cherry, tar, beef tartare, clove? Tastes were a mix of dark cherry, clove, a little very dark sautéed mushroom. More impressive than the last time I had it. While there are quite strong tannins I did not find them particularly clunky -chewy, definitely - but not obtrusive. Acidity a little too low to make this perfectly balanced and I also suspect this is for consumption within the next few years (say 5). Still a very very enjoyable bottle. Score : 92. Relative to expectations: +

A broad textured Barbaresco with some lovely fine grained tannin, white mushroom, and tart cranberry/wild strawberry fruit. Good substance that needed air to emerge (better on day 2). Lacks a touch of the purity and depth of a '14 or '16, but super enjoyable. I also agree with prior notes describing blood orange, and a certain glossiness to this vintage.

Have enjoyed it since the first day of its release. That said, it's never touched me the way that 2014, and 2016 have. To me, it's best days will be enjoyed while the aforementioned vintages are resting/improving. Some sap to the cherry core, good soil, and mushroom at the periphery. Like it, not in love with it. Better after 45 minutes open; some structure emerges . 14,5% abv. At € 25,19, it's still a good value. recommended
Mild and agreable Nebbiolo aromas, with herbs, muscat and sweet spices. Fresh, intense and relatively light weighted in the mouth. Should probably have got some more air.

I had two that I decided to leave out of the cellar and just drink more or less as soon as I bought these. Figuring I leave the rest for a few years, these will be very enjoyable down the road.

Veldig lys, gjennomsiktig, rubinrød farge. Kirsebær, lette jordbær, søtlig julemarsipan og brente nøtter. Fine, men merkbare, tanniner.

What a consistent wine. And you knew it would be tasty in 2015. On the structured side, perhaps a bit closed. Medium cherry, Roses, some dirt, tannins. Open one now but save all the others.

yup. this is a baby. but its already oh so good. especially with a little bit of air the nose really opens up to that rose, licorice, cherry. The rest of these babies are gonna take a nice long nap if I can hold off from opening them right away.

A bit closed but elegant bouqet with licorice, floral and herbal notes. Medium+ tannins and acidity. Well balanced classic Barberesco. Decant and serve at about 18 celcius temperature.

red fruit aroma, strong acidity and balance with mineral at the end, grippy tanin, mild lasting (<10s), drink now or wait few more yrs aging but not too long bcoz of using old style cork, feels like burgundy (1 hr decanter)

Young, but in a good way. Bright, pure, complex with flowers, herbs. Great balance and length. Tannins lurking in the background, but not obtrusively. Really enjoyed this. 4/2/20: A bottle all to ourselves this time. Consistent with last one, but seemed a bit younger. Let it rest a few years.

Light, pale red. Such a complex nose of floral depth, rose, violets, herbaceous heathland, baking spice, mineral, intoxicatingly pure. Palate initially quite tannic, but the tannin disappears with food though it remains quite light bodied and austere has a weightlessness about it, black cherries, pencil shavings, minerals, lovely.

Notes from.2 days open. Amazingly bright and ripe barbaresco. Lovely nose with loads of pure rose and sweet cherry, a touch of va and a suggestion of liqueur. On the palate, very nice extraction, and drinking very well already. Lovely weight and a nice finish.

Textbook Nebbiolo, and delicious with it: glorious nose, with heady scented flowers, bitter orange and strawberry; more red fruit on the palate, but also a decent amount of chunky (but not unattractive) tannin. Ready to enjoy already though.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #145; Italy, Barbaresco (By CvR): In the bouquet cherries, brushwood and autumn forest. Earth as well. On the palate juicy cherries and berries, forest floor and minerals. Still very primary. A touch of sweetness, firm acidity and sticky tannin. Give the wine another 5+ years of cellaring. 89+ for now.

This wine had strong aromas of strawberry, cherry and new leather. The alcohol level was definitely a bit elevated. On the palate we got intense dried cranberries and red plum. The wine is still very young and has very grippy, chewy tannins that explode with cranberries. The tannins are the first wave of the attack and they come in fast and strong. It takes awhile for the tannins to dissipate. This wine needs a lot more time in the cellar before it should be tried again. At least 5 more years. Other than that, it’s a really great wine.

Circumstances did not allow enough air time so take this as provisional and possibly conservative. Nose strong on cedar and tar and clove. Taste dominated by cherry, all spice, and clove again. Still very young. Score 90+. Relative to expectations: 0?

Tasted over about 4 hours next to the '16. This has darker fruit, warmer feel, and a slight roast/toast vs. the cleaner and more elegant '16. They are both very good wines, that will improve with age, but I think I prefer the '16. A-

Ruby red in color. Nose of recurrant, cherry, soil, sweet spice, wet stones and resin. Dry on the palate with assertive grip, the tannins are still young, medium acid, medium alcohol. It feels riper than usual. This should be reaching peak within 3 to 5 years. It will live longer but given the profile, I'd say this is for short term consumption. That is, "in Nebbiolo terms."
With 2 hours of air this is similar to my last note. Dark fruits and nice concentration but plenty of tannin still there. Well made but needs some time. Very good quality for the price. A-

I think it is in a face in between...its not really closed down but also not really open. I also think it lacks some acidity , to be a long lasting wine. But never less in the Zalto Decanter and Also Burgundy glass it did well and was a pleasure drinking.

Classic nose of rose petals, tar and cherry aromas. On the palate, soft tannins, cherries, and red fruits and a hint of truffles. Alcohol content was quite palpable (which was not to my preference), otherwise an amazing bottle. As mentioned by a few commentators, I agree it's fruit forward.

Mmm Produttori. Dreamy nose of Disaronno, figs, ink, cherry ice cream. Highly structured from the start and through the finish. Long. Cherry ice cream with a warming mug of coffee on a cold day making waves of comfort. I know this has secrets that will only be unveiled with further age, but I have no guilt about appreciating this now.

Slow ox for 12 hours and tried twice (upon opening and after 6 hours). upon opening, tart acidity, massive amount of tannins. Closed at first, with a slight strawberry note. After 6 hours, the wine still had prominent tannins but aromas were more in balance. After 12 hours, tannins had melted, aromas were darker, tar, marzipan, sour cherry. Paired very well with osso bucco. Evidently too young but in 5 to 10 years, this should be amazing, excellent value.

This was quite light in appearance upon initially pouring the wine but what was in the glass was very nice. The aromas for me were pretty focused on cherry with maybe just a bit of something floral going on. I found the palette very nice, with quite an intense dry feel. This matched beautifully with my pizza, which was cheese, pepperoni with some pepperoncini peppers and honey. A very nice light enjoyable bottle of wine.

Festa del Barolo Sydney 2017 (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Pot pourri, slightly orange peel, a little plum and sweet spice. Juicy, fleshy in fact, a little peppery spice with plummy fruit and silky, slightly grainy tannins on the long finish. Lovely.

A private lunch (Caffè Toscanini, Amsterdam, NL): Not decanted, in order to enjoy it on its primary fruit. Lovely young Barbaresco, elegant and fresh, lots of ripe cherry fruit, hint of roses, generous (14.5% ABV) but the alcohol is well integrated, firm but finely grained tannins, energetic and with lots of potential, but very pleasant already. Drink now - 2030.
Surprising open for business as pop and pour. Pure red fruited, quite assessable. Seems a bit watery on the backend of the palate, which is my only complaint. Love how open this is now. (Don’t think it’s not tannic—it is).

Not going to rate this as it's my first experience with the producer and I am not that familiar with Barbaresco. I found it really intriguing. Light bodied, somewhat tannic. Nose was closed for business on day 1. Left in a decanter in my EuroCave overnight. Day 2, the tannin faded to a longer, silky finish. The wine never really opened up though. Would love to cellar a few of these and see where they go. Would hold if I had additional bottles.

Produttori delivers yet again. First of all if you are going to open this so young, PLEASE give it at least a 45 minute decant, it took at least that amount of time to open up and really allow its class to shine through.
Nice nose of rose and Christmas cake, the 2015 is fuller on the palate than the 2014 but still has the lovely red cherry and textbook tension that I personally always look for in nebbiolo. Wonderful medium long finish, this will likely be a 94/95 point wine once it picks up some secondary notes after a few years in the cellar.
Comparatively speaking I think the 2014 shows a touch more acidity and lift while the 2015 from a warmer vintage shows a bit more body and fruit, but both are wonderful examples of the region and for my money consistently remain the single best QPR in the world of fine wine. Back up the truck (again).

Medium red color. Strawberry, cherry, cedar nose. Medium body, ripe fruit, bright acidity, then a wave of tannins crashes, taking over the finish. Very good with an upside, should have known better to open one this young.
Put it in the fridge and on day 2 it’s still pretty tannic but more enjoyable. The rest will sleep a while.

Tasted over two evenings and this is really well made. Bright red and blue fruit, medium bodied and a nice balanced finish with strong acid and good tannin supporting it right now. This will likely improve, but pretty good right now and a good value. Better than several higher priced Piedmont and Tuscan wines we had this week. A-/?

Slightly bigger, more radiant and warmer (for lack of a better word) than the 2014 tasted next to it, that seemed more classic. Super perfumed, seductive and aromatics, with notes of sweet cherries, crushed flowers, mint, also some peppery notes and a touch of dark minerality. It‘s medium+ bodied, with medium+ tannin that seems very polished for the vintage and medium+ acidity. Very good length. This is something that will give immediate pleasure while some of the more classic/structured vintages will age longer and better.

This is a monster of a wine, very concentrated with nice ripe dark cherries and chalky tannins. Tannins very present at this stage, def more of the ripe fruit than the 2014. This is developing nicely. Next of my case of 6 will be opened (hopefully) in 2 years. 93-94 can't decide.

Will become a 92 with some time in the bottle. Amazingly consistent high quality product that delivers the best of nebbiolo. Still a little tight with some green wood lingering in the mid palate giving way to an uplifting long finish with plenty of fruit.

Very drinkable with room for improvement. Dark cherry and orange flavor, I expected this to be riper than it was. Perhaps more tannic than the ‘14, with a touch less acidity and a plumper mid palate. Still maintains good freshness. I did not think the ‘14 was ready last I had it, but this can be drunk now. Overall, not a terribly complex wine, but good for $30. Also very versatile for Nebbiolo. Once you get into the $40 range, there are some entry level Barolos I’d rather drink.

Luftet 4 timer. Mørk rød med kompakt kjærne og rosaorange kant. Jordbær, blomster, krydder og sprit på nese. Mye av det samme i munn. Imponerende frukt , men alkoholen henger litt over vinen og demper moroa. Blir bedre ved 16-17 grader i glasset. Herlig struktur, god lengde. Drikk nå, eller vent lenge.

Black raspberry, lavender, rosemary, cinnamon, mineral and leather. Such a full and gorgeous body, with a sappy, long finish of red fruit. Structured, but ripe and enticingly forward. There’s grip, very fine tannins and the proper tension. Drink 2020 - 2032.

Popped and poured; consumed over three hours. On the outset, this was bursting with raspberries on the nose. After about an hour, this gained some weight and the fruit shifted to crushed blackberries, pomegranate, and tar. On the palate, it was much the same with good acid and a nice salinity on the finish...which was really long BTW. This is a really good showing and I’ll likely buy more.

A solid producer that is always reliable. Chose this while having dinner in Rome. The nose was beguiling with rose petals, violets, truffles, and red fruits that never fail to impress. On the palate the attack was initially sweet with liquorice and had a good long finish. Thankfully this was not a tannic monster and was a joy to drink. This wine paired very well with truffles too.

Piedmont; 2/11/2019-2/15/2019 (Alba, Italy): Had this next to the 2014, which I actually preferred to this. Nonetheless, both of these wines are incredibly honest to the vintage. Ripe and fleshy and incredibly open already, this had a lot of juiciness that I really enjoyed. However, it was missing more of the elegance and finesse that the 2014 had, and that's what made me prefer the slightly older version of this.

Tasted over three days. A technically excellent Barbaresco in all regards, and yet the wine did not quite achieve the level of quality expected based on the press it has received. Lighter, higher toned, and more red-fruited (slightly under ripe raspberry and strawberry, ripe lingonberry and cranberry) than the 2014 vintage, and also lacking touches of that wine's verve and underpinning substance. It also showed rhubarb, hibiscus tea, and appealing herbaceous elements, including sappy underbrush. While expectedly reticent on the first day, nothing suggested that it would flesh out and turn deep on the second and third, and, indeed, it did not. On the third day, the wine may have taken a step back.
I agree with outplaying's assessment and comparison to the 2014 vintage. The wine will evolve over the next five to ten years, and may improve, but I would not count on it. The top recent vintages of this label that I have tasted are 2008 (for its femininity), 2010 (for its traditional character), and 2012 (for its intriguing combination of forwardness and deep substance), with the 2014 deserving of honorable mention. 91-92.

Excellent potential but (not surprisingly) a bit too tightly wound right now. Good underlying fruit that is darker than other vintages, Good balance. Missing a bit on the pretty side, as the aromatics are muted and there is a slightly heavy set note to the palate. But perfectly nice and should improve over the next several years.

Tasting note from memory. We had a bottle of this at Campamac and we also did a tasting at Produttori along with the 2014 vintage. Truthfully, with what I had heard about the warm 15 vintage, I was expecting this to be much richer and riper than the 14. The fruit is a little darker toned, and the wine is a little more simple and less interesting to me, but not by much, and I am splitting hairs. I think the 14 shows a little more mineral quality, and has better aromatics. I preferred the 14 by a small margin, but Ann preferred the 15. I will pick some up to drink on the earlier side, with the 2009 and 2012's.

Small tasting glass @ VINEUM during service, so a brief note. From magnum. Decanted for about 2 hours before serving alongside Tagliatelle with fresh truffle, cream, Parmesan cheese and rocket cress. This will benefit from more age for sure, but with 2 hours decant already very pleasant!

Very lean looking as you can almost see through this. This is what they might call "backwards" as it feels like the structure hits you before the fruit. Lengthy yet fine tannin. Generous acidity. Somewhat reserved fruit but not really closed. Just a bit shy. Not a lot of density as witnessed by it's near transparency. Pretty damn good but you're gonna want to sleep this a while. On a surface level I'd say like 6-8 but it's very backwards. Probably not a vintage for long cellaring. I'm guessing ten years and it will be a nice place and go for another decade from there. Very good.

Decided to try one of these, three left in the cellar.
Decanted, walked away a half hour, and started sipping. Still sipping, getting ready for dinner. What is the right pairing for home cooked cranberry beans and brown rice ... with a side of squash? A fiber festival!
Very approachable, pumping lovely aromatics out the top of the glass. Huge fruit, balanced acidity, tannins as usual but (so far) not wiping out enjoyment. And this is without food! During and again after food, shockingly the same result.
I usually give these at least 5 years, as I will with these, but this vintage seems very ripe, feminine, and ready to drink now and likely decades to come.
I wouldn't know how much of this relates to a warmer riper vintage, and who knows maybe Produttori is recalibrating for a more "ready to drink" product. One couldn't blame them, very few oldsters willing to invest in treasure, space and time to wait for the desired outcome.
End of bottle report, tannins are moving forward but are well balanced still in keeping with the fruit and acid. Good now, great later, what's not to like?
Will be laying in a supply, three is not enough.

Open for 2 hours before tasting. Nose was very sweet and one-dimensional. Watermelon fruit, candied cherry and strawberry. Palate was very tannic; hard to pick out much more than under-ripe plums and a sage-y earthiness. Still quite young and could be good in another 3-4 years but for now it is not wowing me.

At Tasting Event (short TNs)...Another beauty tasted glad to have a 1/2 case of 2014 and will now get the same for 2015. The very Italian gent informed that at 10 years these develop to a wondrous level, so will be begin knocking them back 2023-2027 (@ yrs 8-12) for the full on experience, and then hold 1-2 for a longer haul if deemed appropriate in said future. 1 hour decant. Quite fruit forward nose with raspberries and cherries, but also roses, espresso-powder and tea. After 3 hours, more leather notes. On the palate the fruit shows first with great depth and intensity, then a very firm backbone and acidity takes over from the mid-palate and into a very long finish. This is delicate cherries and wild raspberries mixed together. This is a wine for the future, but also one I enjoy now, since I often like Barbaresco's before they reach full maturity. Again PdB has made an outstanding Barbaresco, and I think this is a wine with a very long dw. This is my favorite vintage by far of this wine, as it balances finesse, complexity and intensity better than I have tasted in the past. 92 points and it can only go up from here

Warm earth character on the nose. Mineral and bright red fruits; supple palate, quite elegant style. Good concentration, a lot held in reserve. A succulence here, finer tannins. Not as dry as the Langhe. Needs time unsurprisingly.

After only a hour open in the bottle, it poured with some big, joyous aromas of wild strawberry, candied and dry red berry fruit and a seductively sweet floral perfume. Additional swirls in the glass gave up sweet orange peel, wood glue, cherry cough syrup, and a touch of spice.
On the palate it was snappy and fresh with fine grain tannin that is far less austere than the past few vintages, at least at this very early stage. No harm at all in opening one now to see if you like it. I did and will at least grab a six pack. 14.5abv
I was initially worried about the ripe vintage leading to darker fruit (like 09), but it seems to have retained its red fruit character, albeit with a very sweet nose and 14.5abv. It may have less longevity, but Nebbiolo regularly fools me in that regard.

2018 Visit to Produttori del Barbaresco with Aldo and David: Aldo finished up with accessible 2015 Normale. An attractive nose of spices, cherries, soil, rose petals and underbrush, with a touch of tar. In the mouth, savoury and earthy with fresh and dried mainly red berry fruit, brushwood and a little tobacco. Well balanced with decent acidity and integrated, relatively fine tannins. Good ripeness, volume of fruit and concentration. A good vintage for the Normale.

Opened to breathe for 1-3h, sampling continuously throughout. This has a nice aromatic nose of spicy red berries and tar. The palate shines bright with bright red berry fruit, tar, cedar bark, hints of sweetness, and quite a hit of chewy tannins before the acid finish. Unmistakably a very young, well made Nebbiolo in its character development phase. Delicious with my grilled salmon, somewhat less exciting on its own as a meditation wine because of its rough edges and obtrusive tannins. I've tried a half dozen '15's this summer, and while this is a good showing, it displays less unique personality than several other Barbaresco's from this vintage at a similar price point. 91-92
Friske røde bær (bringebær), samt noen litt mørkere kirsebærtoner. Noe lær. I munnen mer jordbæraktig, med markante tanniner og en litt ru munnfølelse, som ventet av en så ung barbaresco. Fullt drikkbar allerede likevel. Også en veldig tydelig syre.

Decanted 8 hours earlier. Red/tawny. Fragrant anise and bark. Light, elegant, dull cherry fruit, good savory flavors. Looks like another very good young Produttori normale, gratifying insofar as there is no obvious overripeness or heaviness at this point.

The nose was remarkably pretty, showing fresh strawberry and cherry up front, followed by notes of dusty rose, sweet airy spices and cedar. On the palate, I found silky textures giving way to depths of black cherry, minerals and spice, as zesty acidity excited the senses, accentuating inner florals and a hint of bitter herbs. The finish was long, as fine tannin settled in, resonating on notes of dried cherries, minerals and a bitter herbal twang. This is a beautiful wine already, with a bouquet that tricks you into think it's feminine, a palate that focuses on ripeness, yet then a finish that promises further development. Color me impressed.

A 50-to-1 Shot

Gå bare ombord nu, men ingen hast +10-15 år.

Popped and poured. Nice color. Nice cherry flavor. Benefits greatly from a bit of air. The tannins are still rather strong, but a glass saved overnight improved dramatically.
Went well with toasted chiabatta dipped in freshly made pesto.

The nose is medium I smell red cherry and strawberry. Hints of black cherry and dried fruit. . Black pepper. Smokey as well.
On the palate. Dried fruit. Leather. And black cherry. Tannins are aged grippy on the finish.

Corked.

Great wine!

14,5% abv. At € 25,19, it's still a good value. recommended
