The nose opens a bit messy, complex but not too harmonious with herbaceous notes, crushed black and red fruit, cheries, some caramel. Eventually it gets a bit cleaner and more elegant, but still here and there somewhat. Feels rather full bodied and again making wish for a better structure. Quite fruity with some red cherry, raspberry and herbal, almost minty notes. Bit spicy, metallic aftertaste with lingering cherry jam notes. It's not bad at all, but somehow awkward and a bit disappointing.

Savoury and complex. More like St Julian than Margaux.
Tasted alongside Wynns John Rodrick 2004 it’s a very different wine. Not better, not necessarily worse, but remarkably savoury, and perhaps showing some of the extraction that was evident in its youth.
13.5%, cork.

During a Matter of Taste walkabout tasting, only brief impressions. From MAG. Nice showing, elegant, balanced with good aromatics.
