Brighter red cherry with some purple-black fruit kick off the straight-shot profile of the 2019 Margaux. To no one’s surprise, this is about as primary and linear as it gets in its current state. The classical characteristics here surely make for an age-worthy wine, and one that will require a ton of patience before it will start giving up the real goods. Ultra pure. Ultra clean. Mega linear.
This is one of those “awesome potential wines,” and one that will be best in 15-20 years I’m sure. Compared to other 2019 BDXs I’ve been tearing through, this Margaux is going to be more of a stubborn bumpkin in its youth. 96++ with the potential to rocket into a perfect score one day… or maybe two……..

The Blind Side - no, not football! (Chateau Simms): This was one of my contributions....originally, I was going to slip into the 2019 blind tasting, but then thought it deserved to stand on its own and be appreciated for what it is. Also, I had forgotten what young Bordeaux (especially Margaux) tastes like and I thought it would be a fun wine to follow throughout the years.
Needless to say this wine did not disappoint! This is why I love Bordeaux and Margaux! The wine shows classic Ch. Margaux aromatics with a perfumed bouquet of purple and white flowers, sweet red and purple fruit and a slight hint of vanilla and spice. The palate is filled with silky dark cherry, plum and currant notes coupled with notes of black soil, tobacco, coffee and sweet toasted oak. The wine is pure silk going down and the finish is quite long. This wine will definitely flirt with perfection and is so darn good now! Love it! 97 points today.

Very elegant. Super classy. Comes off with a light touch, like gliding across the floor on tinker bell wings if you can imagine. Expressive on the nose.

Eyes Wide Shut - Day 1 (A quiet place): Nose: Light and fresh red fruits. Class and elegance shows beautifully. White and soft red flowers accompany the fruits, providing additional grace. Clean earth here accompanied by fresh, gentle undergrowth.
Palate: Great elegance on the palate as well, just like the nose. Fresh red fruits, clean minerals, light graphite and airy forest notes. A light coating of graphite to keep things tidy and serious, without completely coating the fruits.
Amazing pristine purity to everything at the moment. Gotta love 'em young.
