High should fill, with some signs of seepage. This still had a wonderful nose, and fully developed beautiful tertiary notes of tobacco leaf, pencil lead and earth. The fruit has faded, so this is definitely one for fans of old wines. Those that favor fruit forward expressions of Bordeaux are likely to be disappointed and find this well over the hill.

I’ve had my share of 1970s but this one was near the top if not the top. 11.5pct on the label. It started shy but within 30 minutes (and a Somm induced decant) it was abundant. Eucalyptus note was pronounced and very tertiary in terms of aroma and palate but the texture, acidity, mouthfeel and finish was pure Bordeaux and a true delight. Would love to have another 11 bottles of this but alas I only have 1. I’ll save it till I’m 60. Highest recommendation.
This was drinking incredibly well. We opened and decanted for sediment then rebottled and brought to the restaurant. Poured perfectly rich red color. The red fruits are still there. A hint stronger acid than perhaps some have but it came across as very refined. Drinking very nicely. Would love to find more of these available.
