Drunk at One Harbour Rd, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. On one hand we had high hopes for this bottle given the revered '59 vintage but on the other hand the variability of old burgundy tempered our enthusiasm. So it was probably right that the result should be somewhere in the middle. Pleasingly not oxidised but clearly an enormous amount of acid in the wine and just not enough fruit or structure to cope with it. Things improved with food but the acid remained long after the food had gone and eventually the wine started to fade us you might expect. I was hoping this was to be my Clos de Tart epiphany but it was not to be.
