Wines Tasted at the La Paulée Verticals Session (The Maybourne, Beverly Hills): Slightly deeper color than the 2015. Much less stemminess in the aromas. Medium weight with an exhilarating, enveloping feel. Sweet, ripe red and blue fruit, a light touch of wood, light char (less than the 2015), terrific acidity, and here, an uplifting dollop of green from the whole cluster. Incredible balance, texture, and finish. Absolutely superb wine that is already exciting. Unlimited potential development over the next 15-20 years. This is a strikingly finer, lighter style than Clos de Tart wines from the late 1990's and early 2000's.

Salon Ficofi Paris walkabout tasting and dinner, no detailed tasting notes. From MAG. Modern, polished but little aroma, beaten by the competition today.

JD Friday Wine Group - GA Host (City Club FW - Wine Room): Tasted blind - fairly dark, but transparent in the glass. Lots of fruit and earth, a bit of cola. High acid. It’s crazy to me that I tasted this wine blind two weeks in a row, after never tasting it before. This one was more tightly wound than the previous one, but wasn’t decanted as long. I called it a 2017 Clos de Tart because it tasted even younger than the previous one I had. Still delicious, and without any hints would have called it a California pinot.

La Paulée de Los Angeles - The Verticals (Maybourne Hotel - Beverly Hills CA): Walkaround vertical tasting. Lots here, extremely lush, while firmly backward, this is a very powerful wine that shows the 2016 vintage well. Again, I struggled with an overall assessment, but like where there is heading a lot.
